HTC Droid Eris :: 3G Mobile - Data Connection Failure
May 5, 2010I purchased an Incredible, which I was not too happy with, so I decided to send it back and reactivate my Eris. My Eris was at 2.1v2 at the time. I called Verizon and had them do the switch through their customer service number.
Immediately I began to notice that I had a lack of 3G. My Turn Mobile On setting would be stuck on "Turning On". I could force it by switching airplane on and off and then using the power button to choose Mobile settings. Once I'd get it on, 3G would be spotty and drop in and out, and when I do have it it is ridiculously slow. Speed test shows downloads of 302 kbps and uploads of 1023 so it appears I have upload 3G but not download. Many times throughout the day I get data connection failures on apps requiring internet.
So, I called Verizon, we went through all their steps including escalation to tech support and they decide it is my Eris (which worked perfectly previously). They are sending me a replacement. In the interim, I went back to the Incredible. And immediately had the exact same problem on the Incredible. I called Verizon, and went through all their steps, and now they want to send me a new Incredible. I went back to the Eris, and upgraded to 2.1v3, still the same problem. I am 100% confident that when I get the replacement Eris it will solve nothing. APNs are at correct default.
HTC Hero :: GMail Message Not Sent On Mobile Data Connection
Sep 23, 2009While I was out today with "Mobile network" selected and an HSDPA connection I was able to update weather, view a Google Map, browse web pages and read GMail messages. However, when I replied to messages in the GMail app my replies were not sent. They sat in the GMail app with the word "Sending" shown in red in the Inbox. I tried toggling the mobile data connection off and on a couple of times, but still no joy. As soon as I returned home and reconnected through WiFi the messages were sent within a minute or so.Has anyone any suggestions as to what I might do differently next time?

The protocol library was written in Java and I am implementing it in android via a Service. where the Connection class is a Thread that handles the communications with the controller. It's where the Socket lives.I'm using the Preferences mechanism to store the IP and Port. If I feed the Socket the correct IP and Port, the Connection Service works beautifully. However, I am trying to simulate a user entering the wrong information and having the connection fail. The ultimate goal is to present a dialog and offer the ability to "reconnect" or "update settings". However, when I enter a wrong Port number, the application simply hangs.I was under the impression that Threads executed concurrently so I've tried moving the call to start the Connection Service to a Thread, but it still hangs the application.

May 1, 2010New Incredible, setting up and downloading everything in sight on Thursday. Late last night (Friday) started having issues with mobile network and internet access while not on wi-fi. I have been using wifi predominantly so I think this issue was in the background but I didn't notice because I wasn't using 3g internet access. When I shut off wifi, I was getting access errors and, in my QuickSettings app, it said that there was no APN configured. The HTC settings app, under mobile network, simply said "turning on".
Searched around and discovered that this might be a problem with the app itself (QuickSettings) so I uninstalled it, did *22899 and rebooted. 3g problems went away but now I'm getting intermittent status bar messages that say "message not downloaded - generic network failure".
I am using Handcent and I *think* I'm getting all the messages I've been sent but how could I tell? I've been getting some, at least. I turned off the auto-retrieve for the HTC native messages app but I'm still getting the status message periodically. The phone will vibrate and notify like I've gotten a SMS but all I'm getting is the error message - about every 10 minutes.
From searching around it appears that this has been a thing with the Eris but the fact that it *was* working and now it's not is confusing to me. Is there a known conflict out there with an app combination that does this? I searched the forums and the google but I'm coming up empty.

Nov 2, 2013About 3 days ago I began receiving a "Login Failed" notification on my Samsung Galaxy S3. It appears to be in reference to my roadrunner email account, and when I open the notification it gives me a pop up screen saying the "server password has changed" and asking for the password. I had not changed my password, but it would not accept the password on the account. I searched and found that about a year ago this seemed to be a common problem. Most of the answers amounted to 'uninstall and reinstall your email', so I did. No luck. Then I uninstalled the email from my phone, went to the roadrunner account online, changed my password, then reinstalled the email account on my phone. That worked for about 12 hours and then I started receiving the notifications again. Currently I have just uninstalled email from my phone completely while I search for a solution.
Then yesterday my phone began taking random screen shots. So far it has taken 5 screen shots at random times. I realize we just celebrated Halloween but I didn't expect my phone to become possessed.

Neither phone is able to send or receive text messages. The phones spin for awhile and then finally displays a failure message. I read one suggestion to turn off WiFi but that didn't work. No other problems have been found so far.

Jul 13, 2010I returned my perfect working non-defective EVO last week because my friend has a better deal for the monthly cost. So I joined his family plan and returned mine.
Unfortunately, my new EVO are having some problems. My new one has mild light leakage below the menu button. The volume control button is a bit loose, its workable, but just not as sturdy as on my previous EVO. Occasionally it has text messages delay, which never occur on my previous EVO, Im not sure if its related to Sprint or the phone itself. The battery is not as good as the previous one. Even though I can definitely get through the day with 15 hours for each charge, but I got 20+ hours on my previous EVO. Maybe itll get better once I charged it a few more cycle, its not the biggest concern for me. My biggest concern is actually my own stupid mistake! When I was altering the settings for my phone, I accidentally press and tried to active the Hotspot option. From there one, Ive been receiving the Data Call Failure Error 67 message randomly. Sometimes I just dismiss the message and its fine, sometimes I cant use the 3G after dismissing it. Ive tried to update the profile; turn off the phone; pull the battery. Sometimes it works, sometimes dont..
I don't need the hotspot function and didnt sign up and pay the $30 for it. I really dont need it, I just press it by accident ONCE! Is there any cure with this? I dont want to receive the error message randomly. And I don't want the hotsopt feature! I dont want to call Sprint yet before any other possible remedy, its kind of my last resort. Ive read from some other places that they just tell you to do a hard/soft reset and it is not a guarantee that itll work.
HTC EVO 4G :: Data Call Failure - Error Code 130
Aug 24, 2010My Evo has no data connection all of a sudden and pops up with an error that says, "Data Call Failure Error Code 130. Network error. Sign in failed. Please wait a moment and try again, you may need to contact Sprint."
I didn't do anything weird to my phone or anything to have this happen all of a sudden. I've tried doing a battery pull several times and tried updating my profile, but nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone else experiencing such an error?
General :: Weird Data After Failure Rooting One X?

HTC Incredible :: Get "generic Message Failure" In Status Bar When Send Mms / Fix This?
May 15, 2010Anytime i try and send an MMS through handcent i get "generic message failure" in the status bar. If i try to send through the native app i get nothing. just acts like it sent. i can receive mms from people on ATT/Verizon just can't send. I did a factory reset just to see if any apps were interfering with it and still have the same problem.

Only once have I somehow seen the picture show up. Usually, it just keeps giving me this message over and over. I have also tried to update the phone profile and that did not fix it either.

HTC Incredible :: Getting An Error Message Which Reads Connection Failed
Jul 27, 2010I picked up my new incredible last week (Awesome!). It's been working great. However, within the last day, I've been getting an error message which reads "Connection Failed: This application requires network access. Enable mobile network or Wi-Fi to download data." I've gotten this message when initiating the browser, going into email, etc. Of course, I can't access anything via the web.
When I go to settings, mobile network is checked off, although it does say "turning on..."

Jul 28, 2010I have had my HTC desire for about a week now and can't access any youtube videos. I can select a video to view and it looks like it's loading but after serveral minutes the error message 'Sorry no network connection right now, please try again later' or 'Sorry, this video cannot be played. this video is not available'
My internet seems to be working although it seems very slow (thought it should be alot faster). Is there something I need to set up to be able to view the videos? I've tried using the youtube widget and also using Dolphin HD but with no luck.

The main function is by pressing on a button in Android device a message should go to computer via internet (I don't know, but I think it should be with UDP). I know that I need to set the server for computer and write down IP and port to the android app code. I don't have any clue how to do it. Sep 18, 2010I went to install a theme on CM6 final and now my EVO will not bring up a 3G connection anymore even after flashing a stock rom. It will not connect to data or even show the 3g symbol.
I can still make calls though.
Does anyone know what setting might have changed or anything I can do to get my data back?

Aug 18, 2010When I'm in a call over a month ago, I was able to check on the traffic in the maps app..but now when i try to do that, i get the message "connection data lost" and therefore am not able to check the traffic until I am done with my call. Sep 11, 2010Even though I have "Background data" and "always on mobile data" enabled, my data connection keeps dropping. The "3G" will dim itself after a period of inactivity even with having three or more bars of signal strength. For most applications this is not a issue but it reeks havoc on Google Talk (have "automatically sign in enabled) and sometimes the Android Market.My phone has been doing this for a while. I just updated to Fresh 3.2 and installed the latest radios. Still having the same problem. What can I do to fix this? Has anyone else had this problem before.

Apr 14, 2010I've got my Desire to allow background sync and auto sync etc, but I was wondering if there was an app that anyone knew of that would tell me which application has been using the data connection and for how long etc? A bit like the battery stats that says which application has been using the battery but for data connection if you see what I mean.
I've seen a few apps that seem to give an overall usage figure so you can track how much data you're downloading in a month but nothing per app.I originally posted this in the HTC Desire section but I think this section is more appropriate, not sure how to move a post so have done it again.
