Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to transfer data between 2 applications( one running on Android Phone and another application running on PC) via USB connection? If yes then please tell me the what are the settings to be done.

Imagine the situation that Any data plan is not activated and as soon as u enable the data connection hundereds of thing in android want to connect to internet and when u disable the data connection again . Ur money is deducted.
Now u will ask me if i dont have a data plan why i enable the data connection.?
So here is the thing I want the data connection to be enabled so that i can open free site like facebook on Opera Mini.
So is there any way so that i can enable the data connection but my phone does not connect to internet to itself but i control which app connects. In my case opera mini.

I am tired of my phone loosing connection when I try and use pdanet or trying to transfer files. I get almost all the way with the file then I loose usb connection. My wifes phone does not have this problem for the most part. Only when pdanet. What can be done? I have tried many different drivers and still same issue with my phone.

This kind of sucks, seeing as how I used that to put the update.zip on the phone in the first place.Now, I need a way to transfer files between my Windows 7 PC, and my Froyo Droid.I've looked through the forums a bit, and I've seen someone suggest ES File Explorer for this purpose. I searched the market, and I wasn't able to find it. Does anyone have an alternate suggestion, or a way for me to get this one to see if it will work?

This is the scenario on Windows Mobile. My question is ,if Android had supported mPDP, how does one application know which PDP should be used to transfer data?
Or Application (ex: Browser) doesn't care these issue, and it will try all PDP to transfer data ?

Then this year my brother gave me an iPhone 4S as my 21 years birthday present. It was a great gift, however, the problem comes to me that how I can transfer my contact data to my new iPhone 4s.
I searched Google and got some ways such as: using the Sim card, syncing to Google contacts; using Synkontact; or import and export my contact data using Moborobo.
I don't like to upload my contact data to any unknown internet space, so I choose not to use Google contacts and synkontact. Why? Because I don't trust any web storage space! So, Moborobo become my choice. I can safely export contact data on my HTC desire to my computer and import it to my lovely iPhone 4s. Ok, it's done! Easy and safe.

I've got my Desire to allow background sync and auto sync etc, but I was wondering if there was an app that anyone knew of that would tell me which application has been using the data connection and for how long etc? A bit like the battery stats that says which application has been using the battery but for data connection if you see what I mean.

So, I wanted to know how can I transfer game data like candy crush and other games to a different phone? I mean if I were to reinstall that game on another device using the same google play info, will game data transfer over? Meaning, evel and top score?
I have a spare smartphone with limited ROM; but larger than the THL T100S, the Pomp w89. The two are nearly identical, except the pomp has slightly more ROM. (The Pomp w89 was a gift to my dad but he didn't like it, preferred a physical keyboard.)

The second problem is the Pomp w89 does not send text messages. It happened within the first 2months of ownership. Something about message service number needs to be updated or something? Both are unlocked smartphones that set to use wifi only, they are under AT&T without a dataplan.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI saw this commercial the other day for the iPhone where they were saying how the iPhone can look up stuff on a map and lookup restuarant info on the web all while on a phone call. I thought, that's silly, can't every smart phone do that? I had never tried it before on my Hero, so tonight I just did a simple test, where I was on the phone and tried to look up some info on the web. No go. There was no data connection. Boy was I not happy about that. Is that a function of the OS (v1.5), or the network I'm on (Sprint)? It seems like its pretty basic that I should be able to be on a phone call AND look something up at the same time, just like the iPhone commercial. Or am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting somewhere?

I have an unlimited data plan through T-Mobile. I am using my phone in the United States, West Coast. The issue I am having is when I am using the Tethering for root user and I receive or send a call, my connection seems to pause. This also causes web pages to not load and the 3G or E icon goes away from the Status bar at the top of the screen. Does anyone know of a way for me to have the data connection continue when a cell call comes in?
This was working until today on wife's phone.Now it just says mobile data state disconnected. All shes done is installed a load of new apps.Is it possible that a bad app can screw the mobile data connection?Or could it be faulty phone?Tried the sim in another phone and data works fine so its not the network or sim.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a server application listening on port 5001 on an anroid dev phone. The client application running on my laptop tries to send data to the server application.
The client can successfully connect and send data to the server machine when the phone has wifi enabled. The command to do this is - iperf -c <ip address of wifi interface>
But when I enable the 3G connection and try to send data then it fails. iperf -c <ip address of the 3G interface>
I cannot even ping the <ip address of the 3G interface>. Is there any port blocking enforced in case of external 3G network connection. Can anyone please tell me how can I send data to the server application on 3G network. Is there any specific port on which the server application should be listening??
I've been trying to wrap my head around this and it's probably an obvious answer but why can't I dial out using my GV number unless I have a data connection active? Per Google and from what I can see, no VoIP is being used and it seems to me when I have a data connection and use GV to dial out it just dials a Google number first. I'd think the call would be made to GV, GV would patch the call through to the person being called and pass on the GV caller ID number. So why does the app need to have a data connection to work?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an app in which there are several requests to a server in internet (http), for example to retrieve images in threads outside the main UI process. The thing is that I have a Thread that manage the request with a while(!end) loop and in the end a Thread.sleep(500) that checks if there are new unhandled requests. As I read here [1] I know that this is not a good practice. And users have complain about ANR (app not responding) in several cases.
Knowing that obviously I want to refactor all the way my app manage the requests and I want to do that the best way. So, the question is; what is the best approach for doing this? A service? a broadcast receiver and send intents when I need a request to be handled?
When viewing sites with a lot of Flash ads like GameFAQs I get an annoying popup telling me that I have lost the data connection and the page could not be loaded. Only the ads are not loading, but I'd like a way to ignore or fix this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know that unfortunately detecting and changing programmatically data connection (GPRS/UMTS) on vanilla Android is not possible, and the common workaround is to edit APN settings. This is hardly a nice solution. However on my device (Xperia X10) I have an additional setting near "data roaming", that allows to enable or disable MMS and data. I suppose that this is a personalization made by Sony Ericsson, and maybe even other vendors have something like this. Is there a way to access this setting?
