I have a DIR-655 and just got my Droid X. It will not maintain a connection to it. I tried all the obvious things... Forced it to G only, tried using the guest zone with different encryption.

I made a post about this in the Froyo 2.2 features I was not aware of thread, but am making a new post here - just in case it is because of something else, like, say, the baseband update.According to DROID by Motorola - Android phone - Motorola USA I have wireless B,G connectivity.However, my DROID is currently connected to my wireless N router, which it can now see since I switched said router from the 5.8 GHz band to hte 2.4 GHz band.No, the router it not provisioned to supply N and G - it is supplying N only.

But when i try to go to a website in the browser it will not load the new page and after a while it says "web page not available the web page at www.website.com might be temporarily down or it may have been moved permanently to a new web address. here are some suggestions : Check to make sure your device has a signal and data connection. reload this webpage later. or view a cached copy of the web page from google. So it will not connect to another website. So i went to the verizon store and asked them what was wrong, but then my droid connected to their wireless network just fine. So i came home and the same problem happened again with my wireless connection. Has anyone else had this problem and if so then how do you fix it. Is it my droid, or my wireless router.

I will respond to any direct questions in regards to my configuration.I have a brand new Motorola Droid 2 and a Cisco 851w wireless router which I have configured myself.I can successfully associate the droid 2 to my wireless network. It obtains an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.Using an android market ping utility, however I cannot ping externally or even to my gateway.I've tried the following in the process of my troubleshooting:tatically assigning my droid's internal addresses (and explicitly naming DNS).Unhiding my SSID Provisioning an alternate completely unsecured, unhidden wireless SSID (as opposed to an original hidden SSID, WPA2/PSK configuration)Restarting the phone and routerLaptop devices are able and have been able to associate, and pass traffic without issue for over a year.I cannot really pinpoint an issue with this setup, as I am able to associate and browse consumer/business wireless networks elsewhere without issue. Searches for the above described issue yield the same suggestions I have attempted in the process of my troubleshooting.

For example, if I am using last.FM and I turn on my wi-fi, I get an error that the app can no longer connect to the last.FM servers. If I turn off wi-fi, it starts working immediately. View 22 Replies View RelatedThere appears to be an issue with my Hero-router WiFi connection. Has anyone had similar experiences or have any advice? My Hero can generally see my home wireless router and report a good signal, though the visibility can drop out (when my other devices are still happily connected). It can also see my neighbors' networks, so it isn't a range issue.
For the most part, the Hero just doesn't seem to want to connect. If I reboot the router it will connect briefly for a couple of secs. I've tried altering a few of the router broadcast settings, trying b-only/ g-only/ b+g, but this hasn't helped (n isn't available, but I understand the Hero to be g anyway). I haven't yet been to another WiFi area, to check if it will connect to other networks. My suspicion is it is a specific compatibility issue with my router (Zoom).
I have a factory unlocked HTC Desire with the official 2.2 froyo firmware installed. When I turn on the wifi using the inbuilt HTC wifi widget, it takes about 10-15 seconds before the phone connects to my wifi router and the wifi icon is shown in the notification bar. I am using a Dlink dir-655 router. The settings that I have on the router are as follows:-
wireless mode: 802.11g only
encryption: wpa2 personal AES
mac filtering on (phone's mac address has been added to the list)
SSID is hidden
Other devices such as my laptop and nintendo wii connect to the wifi router within seconds.
How do I connect to my router at home? I assume its for the best to do when I am at home (better battery life, faster, etc.) but I can't get it to connect. I have a 2wire router and the only time I've ever used the wireless Internet is with my buddies xbox 360. All we had to do there is type in the number code that was on the bottom of the router. When I type this code in on the Droid X it looks for an IP address but is unsuccessful, even when I am sitting right next to it. Does anyone now how I can get this to work? I probably left out info you need to help me too, so if you need anything just ask.

My current 2 year old samsung i760 is running an app called WM wifi router that is currently doing this, for free. To me this is a deal breaker if the phone cannot do this. I have looked everywhere on the interwebz and have not found no such info for this phone.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted Evo 4G currently running the latest Fresh. Also running the current Wireless Tether App 2.0.5 pre 9. I am always having a problem of the client computer just dropping connection and no longer can find the broadcasting signal. Seems like the phone just stops broadcasting randomly. Only way to fix it is to disable and then enable the wireless tethering again. This happens about every 10-15 minutes, on any computer I try. Work, home, shop, everywhere. I also tried wiping the phone completely and re-installing the app. Is there a more reliable wireless tether app out there?

Very strange because I was in the middle of downloading a market app when it just disappeared. Can the Verizon towers go out occasionally causing me to lose 3G or do you think something happened to my phone in some way?
