I just purchased a Bluetooth headset for my phone. I notice that when I press the main button on the headset the phone asks me to say a command. How can I call a contact from my phone or dial a phone number? What else is possible over Bluetooth headsets?

I have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhile I'll admit I have a slow 'southern drawl', I was amazed at the voice to text feature of the Evo when I first got it. I use it for 90% of my texting. Since the 2.2 update I am having a terrible time getting it to accurately recognize 50% of my speech. Is anyone else having this problem or did they just remove 'hillbilly' dialect? I am running the unofficial .3 version.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a BlueAnt ST3 and the volume is great when you hear the callers voice or it says "connected to phone", etc. But the volume coming from the voice of the Evo bluetooth asking me to speak now or verifying my caller choice is very low. I have looked in the bluetooth settings but don't see anything related to volume. Is this just the way it is? If not, has someone figured how to increase the phone volume without increasing the overall volume of the phone (media vol, ringer vol, etc).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Blueant S4 bluetooth speakerphone, Im trying to use the voice dailing feature with the new 2.2 froyo release and it sucks.....really. Even not using the blueant speakerphone and just using the phone trying to speak commands directly at it in a quiet room, it dosent even work. Example I tried to call my mother today when prompted I said "Call Mom" the phone decoded that as "Call Aubrey" lol which is a imporvement from the "nothing found" errors ive been getting....is there another app to replace the stock voice dialing application that works better?

However there is something that is annoying me with the default keyboard.
Now there is a "Voice" search button on the bottom left of the Froyo keyboard, where there used to be a simple "Down" button that would hide the keyboard. I don't know if pressing the back key is something I can get used to for all of those login forms.
Is there a way to bring back that "Down" button?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a newb when it comes to Bluetooth; tonight I borrowed a Moto HS850 and tried it with two ROMs on my Eris:
- HTC/VZW stock 2.1 pre- July OTA (= leak-V3)
- Tazz Froyo CM6 2.0
Results:
No problems pairing or connecting, answering, disconnecting, or last-number redialing.
I could NOT initiate voice dialing at all on the stock 2.1 ROM, and on the CM6 Froyo ROM, the headset could initiate the voice dialer, but it appears that no voice input was being transferred to the voice dialer.
So, I guess I have two questions:
- are all the Froyo CM6 ROMs essentially the same when it comes to Bluetooth capabilities and bugs?
- ignoring cases of gross interoperability problems (can't pair/can't connect), are the results obtained highly sensitive to the brand and model of the paired BT device?
Anyone try voice dialing over bluetooth in 2.2?

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy jabra BT8040 worked perfectly with my Evo for the last 3-4 months. Then the other day, I lost connection to phone and had to re-connect (even having to re-enter the pairing code). After this, Now I can hear media through the blue tooth, however, I can no longer make / receive voice calls through the bluetooth even though it says it's paired. Tried a bunch of things (including re-pairing) and nothing seems to work. I'd hate to buy a new bluetooth and have the same problem.

Seems a common issue with several of the German cars and my research indicates it is because HTC loaded a crappy version of bluetooth with the phone, not the true 2.1 version that is in other phones. Phones from 6 years ago and every one since function better than the Motorola Droid does in this aspect.With over 800,000 units said to be sold(Moto Droid)... the number of stars for this issue are very low.... In fact the overall participation on google code is low i think.I'm asking everyone to go on Google Code, log in with your gmail account, or do whatever you have to do to be able to 'Star' the issue. View 49 Replies View RelatedThis isn't really Incredible specific -- more of a general Android 2.2 complaint, but the inability to access Google Voice Actions/Search over bluetooth is a HUGE missed opportunity by Google, in my opinion. I mean, I LOVE the new voice actions -- it's such a great feature and really makes the phone easy to use. However, it's inability to work over bluetooth makes it difficult, if not impossible to use in the car -- a place it would be perfect for. If you want to use it in the car, you basically have to scream loud enough so the phone mic can pick you up over the road noise and it also requires holding down the search button to initiate, so it's not exactly hands free.
As it stands now, if you access the phone via Bluetooth, all you get is the voice dialer, which only provides the ability to dial names and numbers via voice commands. Imagine if you could access voice commands via bluetooth and create text messages and emails while driving, notes to self, get directions, etc. Since voice actions can also handle calling contacts, I'm not even sure what remaining value the "voice dialer" has over the Voice Actions/Search functionality. At a minimum, Google should at least provide a setting for specifying which voice app (voice dialer or voice actions/search) would be accessed when connecting via bluetooth.
Anyone know if it would be possible for a developer to come up with a custom application that would allow voice actions via bluetooth? My guess is that Google will fix this eventually, so maybe I just need to be patient. It just seems like it would be relatively easy and could be included with an update to the Voice Search app.
I've seen an app that can launch voice search from the BT headset, but it still uses the phone's mic. It would be great if the voice dialer could be completely replaced with the much more functional new Voice Search.
