I noticed that with the 2.2 upgrade, a press on my bluetooth headset's button automatically starts the voice dialer.Is there any way to control this feature or change settings for my bt headset device? I found a workaround with app Call Confirm for now.

I've seen an app that can launch voice search from the BT headset, but it still uses the phone's mic. It would be great if the voice dialer could be completely replaced with the much more functional new Voice Search. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've searched the forums but haven't found a fix for this yet. I like to call people on my way home from work. I used to tap my bluetooth, have my phone in my purse and say 'Call Bob Mobile' and woosh - it calls Bob on his mobile. I've tried the voice dialer that came with the phone and it can't understand a work I say even when I'm holding it right next to me. It's driving me nuts. Are there any apps that will make my bluetooth call Bob when I tap it?

I had her go into the voice recognizer settings but the option to train it is not there as it was on the D2.She also says it doesn't prompt her for confirmation and she can't find the setting to have it confirm before dialing. Is there an option she's missing?

I'm having an issue with the Voice Dialer on my Incredible. I'm wondering if other people are having this too...
Assume I have a contact entry "John Doe" with both a Mobile and a Home number.
When I speak "John Doe", if the dialer can't correctly pinpoint the contact name (eg: "John Doe" vs "Jane Doe"), then it correctly shows me all of the numbers for both people. However, if it correctly matches to the exact name ("John Doe"), then it shows me only the primary number for "John Doe".
It doesn't matter whether I say "Call John Doe", "Call John Doe at Home", or "Call John Doe on Mobile". In all cases I just get a single number offered.
The native voice dialer sucks. Is there a way to calibrate it?
Voice search works pretty well so I'm not sure why the voice dialer sucks for me. I've been using voice dial on feature phones for like 5 years and they all worked much better than this.
Mods, please leave this thread here in hopes it actually garners some attention, the support section does not receive anywhere near the traffic this one does!
This literally happens to me EVERY time I try to use it, it didnt always do this so I'm not exactly sure when it started. I've done the normal reboot etc, does anyone have a fix/reset for this thing?
I'm not sure if it has to do with today's update but I have a pretty good idea it is. Whenever I got to ATK it shows many more apps 'open' than I specifically opened.
Say I opened Music and internet. Voice dialer, maps, and gesture search will have opened as well.
So my wife bought me a bluetooth headset (we have a hands free law starting in Ontario next month) and I finally got around to trying the default "Voice Dialer" app.Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this isn't really a voice dialer. The app is _called_ voice dialer, but you can actually use it to search your phone for _anything_.When I try to use it to call someone, I say "Call Patricia". It pops up a box that asks if i want to call her work number or mobile number. At this point there doesn't seem to be any way to choose an option by _voice_, instead you have to actually press one of the options on screen.

1. Turned on Bluetooth
2. Turned on my Bluetooth headset - got the headset connected message.
3. Pushed the button on my bluetooth headset and said: "Call _______ at home."
Nothing happens. How do I fix?I used the update.zip file linked at Android Central to manually update to Android 2.2.
This isn't really Incredible specific -- more of a general Android 2.2 complaint, but the inability to access Google Voice Actions/Search over bluetooth is a HUGE missed opportunity by Google, in my opinion. I mean, I LOVE the new voice actions -- it's such a great feature and really makes the phone easy to use. However, it's inability to work over bluetooth makes it difficult, if not impossible to use in the car -- a place it would be perfect for. If you want to use it in the car, you basically have to scream loud enough so the phone mic can pick you up over the road noise and it also requires holding down the search button to initiate, so it's not exactly hands free.
As it stands now, if you access the phone via Bluetooth, all you get is the voice dialer, which only provides the ability to dial names and numbers via voice commands. Imagine if you could access voice commands via bluetooth and create text messages and emails while driving, notes to self, get directions, etc. Since voice actions can also handle calling contacts, I'm not even sure what remaining value the "voice dialer" has over the Voice Actions/Search functionality. At a minimum, Google should at least provide a setting for specifying which voice app (voice dialer or voice actions/search) would be accessed when connecting via bluetooth.
Anyone know if it would be possible for a developer to come up with a custom application that would allow voice actions via bluetooth? My guess is that Google will fix this eventually, so maybe I just need to be patient. It just seems like it would be relatively easy and could be included with an update to the Voice Search app.
My husband bought an Incredible the other day and he has had one problem that is potentially a deal breaker. He uses his phone in the car a lot and part of that he uses a bluetooth headset. When playing with the phone he found he could not simply press the button on his jawbone to bring up voice dial (which I mean, we could do on motorola flip phones many many years ago). Even if he puts a shortcut the the "voice dial" application he needs to unlock the phone by pressing the top button, slide the unlock screen, press the app, then say his command.
If that were not enough there is no repeat back to the headset, you must manually confirm the selection. I don't know about you but to me that seems to defeat the purpose of voice dialing, which is meant to keep your hands free and eyes on the road. I have seen gesture search recommended but that would not be ideal to use while on the freeway. Are there any workarounds to make this work properly? I was wondering if on other phones the root community has developed their own solution to the problem on other phones as well, that might give him a little hope for when the incredible gets rooted.
Now that we have root, will there be a way for us to get bluetooth voice dialing working? A well needed feature.

It doesn't look perfect (still have to activate through phone, not BT)...has anyone tried it?Might be worth $4 if it works since I don't see when real VD is going to be added to Android.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a google voice number and i installed google voice on my droid with android 2.2 but it dosnt do what I want it to do.I want a dialer that is only used to make calls from my google voice number. I know you can setup google voice to:
-to make all calls from GV
-to make only international calls from GV
-make no calls from GV
-ask if you want to use GV (before every call)
I dont want any of these. I want my normal dialer to use my normal number and whenever I want to make a call from GV I want to click on an APP and have a dialer appear and any calls from that dialer are made with the GV number.my BB worked this way. I would click on GV and then start dialing and it made the call with GV.
So, I've been playing with Voice Dialer (native app) and trying to find command words like "menu", etc.
Maybe I speak with too much of an accent or something, but (in general) it works pretty awful for me.
However, I have stumbled across options that I'm not seeing in the regular menu system...
like an option to turn on "audio dock". When I selected it, I got a message that audio dock was not currently available.
or "open SIM card lock setings"
Anyone else find weird things using Voice Dialer? Any helpful menu options found?
I have a BlueAnt Endure headset connected to my XPZ. Randomly my phone will dial someone from my phone book. I have just realised that it is because I keep the headset in my pocket (when not in use) and if I accidentally lean on it and subsequently press the command button twice within a few seconds it will enable the 'Voice Dialer'. It will then interpret any noise or voice into random numbers or sometimes a phonebook name.
I have called BlueAnt and they tell me that I cannot disable the 'Voice Dialer' command within the unit.
Is there a way to disable this action on the phone? Is this a SONY or an Android thing?
Do I need to install a custom ROM to disable this function?
I know this is a known issue on the Incredible and Desire, and now it seems like the EVO too. I have regular sony headphones in my EVO and after about 2 or 3 minutes the icon will change from headphones to headphones with mic the voice dialer comes up and the music player just starts to skip. Is there any way to disable the voice dialer?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOK I see there are a few threads on this so called "voice dialer".However, if you're driving along and activate voice dialer (which is simple enough, no problem there) what's the point of having to say "Call Robert Smith" and then have to look at the screen, see if it's got the correct name and touch it to make the call?Doesn't this defeat the purpose of voice activated dialing?My older Motorola Krave had a real touch free voice dialer that responded to you and asked if it's choice was correct at which point you could say "yes" and it would dial it.Now we have the latest greatest Androids that can't do that.Whoever developed this app had no clue about the dysfunction and potential hazards involved with this "feature".I love my Eris but was completely disappointed with this app.

I use a blutooth headset, and use that because I work outside and my hands are usually sweaty or wet. The issue is that it's awful. It hardly ever hears me correctly, and without any warning it calls the wrong person! Very annoying at 7 in the morning, or 10 at night when you start dialing random people.I tried a different method, saying "open contacts" and it still dials random people.The Google Voice App understands me perfectly when I use it for texting or email. View 7 Replies View RelatedIv had my Eris for about a month now and love it.It's easily the best phone I've had (my previous were all dumb phones). However, this is the frist phone I have had where the voice recognition actually works. Google voice search is incredible. The wierd thing is though, my voice dialer doesnt work AT ALL. I thought it was maybe becuase I was running ATM, but I stopped like 2 weeks ago and it still isn't working. I mean it wont recognize anything- not even redial or open calendar.

When you first make a call with GV selected it pulls up the GV dialer google_voice_android_1.jpg.Then it switches the the Eris dialer.Does anyone know if/how the GV dialer could be used instead of the Eris'?I really like the look of the GV dialer much better than that of the Eris.
