HTC Desire :: Voice To Text On Froyo
Aug 3, 2010I had voice to text using a modified keyboard, but it crashes with Froyo. Does anyone know how to make this work again? do I just download another keyboard from the market?

HTC Desire :: Still No Bluetooth Voice Dialling In Official Desire Froyo
Aug 1, 2010I have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

Jul 24, 2010Trying to get the 'Voice to text' trick working...Voice search working installed the HTC_IME_hi_25.apk and long held to select the input method. I can see the little mic next to the space bar but...when i press the mic key nothing happens! if i hold too long it goes to settings. Have seen on youtube I should get a 'speak' box come up after i press the mic, but nothing. tried uninstall the HTC_IME_hi_25.apk and voice search, but still not working. Have ticked and unticked boxes in the HTC_IME_hi_25.apk setting ... does it matter?

-Download and install hi-res version.
-Goto keyboard settings and enable HTC_IME.
-Long press on any text entry, select imput method and then select HTC_IME as default.

Also when I press and hold the search button for voice, it always takes me to the internet. I can get the navigation software to open by saying navigate to destination. Aug 3, 2010While I'll admit I have a slow 'southern drawl', I was amazed at the voice to text feature of the Evo when I first got it. I use it for 90% of my texting. Since the 2.2 update I am having a terrible time getting it to accurately recognize 50% of my speech. Is anyone else having this problem or did they just remove 'hillbilly' dialect? I am running the unofficial .3 version.

Jul 30, 2010Alls well that goes well with the new Froyo leak.
However there is something that is annoying me with the default keyboard.
Now there is a "Voice" search button on the bottom left of the Froyo keyboard, where there used to be a simple "Down" button that would hide the keyboard. I don't know if pressing the back key is something I can get used to for all of those login forms.
Is there a way to bring back that "Down" button?

Aug 5, 2010I updated to the rooted FroYo, and I'm not seeing the voice input button on the stock keyboard anymore, it's been replaced by a button that toggles between english and spanish. Is there another way to access it so I can text or email by speaking to my phone? Did everyone else have this happen with the stock ROM, or is this a root issue?

Aug 20, 2010I've been playing around with the new voice commands in Froyo (Sending Txts, Calls, etc.), and I've noticed that while the feature is cool in theory, it seems to fail in practice. To be more specific, the Voice software can't seem to recognize any name that isn't John Smith, David Samuels, etc.
As an example, I have repeated tried to use it to text a friend of mine who's name is Ryanna (pronounced like the singer). I have tried using "Ree-ahna", "Ree-anna", "Rye-anna", "Rye-ahna", and other methods of pronouncing it, but all of them fail. The software doesn't even bother to take a guess!
Is there any way to "train" the software to better recognize names?

Nov 2, 2010I have used Lambrospowers (XDA Forum) Rosie patch to enable drag n drop when in helicopter (leap) view. It works flawlessly on my rooted stock Froyo Desire. If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.

Jul 23, 2010I am toying with the idea of putting a Froyo Rom on my desire, but have several questions that aren't answered in other posts.
1. Will I need to unlock my phone before, during or after changing the Rom? I am not overly bothered by the orange stuff on my phone, but am worried about losing my WiFi connections!
2. Do I need a goldcard? Some instructions say yes, other no. None mention orange handsets specifically.
3. Which is the easiest & safest method to root my phone, if I want to put the Froyo Rom on it?
4. What if I want to change Roms - do I need to do the whole process again? I've seen something about a Rom manager, but where do you get it and how does it work?
5. Which Rom do I use? I've looked at some I'd the modacco forum ROMs, but most don't actually say what you do or don't get with them.
6. What's that difference between a2sd and a2sd+? Does it come as part of the ROM or so I news to get it separately?

I want to know if I can extract the text result on the list view and use it as a String further on? The part of code I am refering to is below where mList is defined as ListView:
