Cracked screen just got my fresh new evo.I've got about 30 apps and tons of settings is there anyway to transfer this?What about my mobile hotspot and all that is it going to be activated on the new phone then the old one is going to lose that ability? I might need the net to transfer things!

So, I just called Sprint and told them I was told I could get my Activation Fee waived, the guy who answered said he couldn't waive the whole fee but he gave me 50% off. Better than nothing. Anyone have any luck getting it completely waived?FYI, Sprint charges $5 extra to your monthly bill if you don't use Auto-Pay I just figured that out. So before you pay your bill you can set up Auto-Pay online.

I activated the new phone, instealled MyBackupPro on it, and restored. Only problem is, my contacts came through corrupted, so didn't transfer.Now I need to go back to my old phone and get the contacts off of it using MYBackup Pro. But the phone won't let me past the activation screen. I don't want to reactivate it, I just want to use the app to download the contact information to the SD card.Why is it requiring activation to transfer information? How do I fix?

My wife's new Droid just arrived and I'm planning to put JRummy's Pink Froyo on for her. Thought it might be nice to have it done prior to her getting home from work. I'll obviously still be signing in with her google account and I have wifi at home should I need to access any data. But she needs her current phone right now and activating this new one would in turn deactivate the one she has with her.

I've tried a whole bunch of different APN settings but nothing seems to be working. After filling in my username and password it tries to connect to google servers for activation a couple of minutes before it reports an error "There is a problem communicating with the Google servers." I've tried to delete all APNs and adding a new one. The settings I'm using now is: Name: telenor APN: telenor MCC: 242 MNC: 01 The rest is unset. I've also tried with username/password "dj/dj" and "wap/wap". And also changing the APN value to "internet".

My phone boots up OK then it goes to the activation screen but after a couple of seconds (10 - 30, seems random) the phone hangs. When it's at the activation screen it seem to connect to the cell service (Fido) but R in the status bar would indicates that it's roaming (clue?). I have to take out the battery to reboot. It's a T-Mobile G1 that I'm trying to get working with Fido (Canada). It's a phone I bought used (activated but locked) but then I reseted it to factory default which deactivated it. I unlocked it. I tried to activate it through wifi. Followed the instruction and downgraded it to rc29. I've tried different rc, different roms, same thing.

Asof yet i have not received messages off orange to activate the phone/sim. Any idea how long this should take as it's been 3 hours now! Ok, so why would I want/need to do this? Simple, I'm deployed to Iraq and my cell phone service is on a military suspense. I did a reset after the last update, and now cannot use the device until it's activated, or I find a way to bypass the activation.
What I've tried so far (thanks to Google):
-tried tapping the 4 corners, starting top left, going clockwise. Doesn't apply to this phone, but was still worth a shot.
-"end call" on activation 4-5 times
-reboot 3-4 times
I'm on my parents family plan. Because I won't be able to take my parents to the store on Thursday morning (b/c of work) I am thinking of pre-ordering it. Will I be able to take it to the store for activation/transfer my numbers and everything without the "primary phone owner" or whatever Verizon calls the main number on the family plan? Whenever I try to call them or go online I'm unable to do anything because I'm not the head honcho.

1. This site strongly recommends that you charge your battery before activating it.
2. Other sources have noted that you should start it up and use it until it is mostly drained before charging it.
Does anybody have any scientific evidence to support one theory over the other? What are the consequences of letting it drain before charging if you side with #1?
Love the Eris so far...minus 1 glitch which is hopefully user error. Has anyone else had a problem with it calling from your pocket? It has happened to me a few times the passed couple of days (just picked up the phone this weekend) where the screen is somehow activated in my pocket, possibly after a missed call or text, which results in "pocket dial". Is there an alternative method to "unlock" the screen so maybe it doesn't happen so easily? This is my first touch screen to maybe there is a trick I don't know about.

Charged the battery, powered it on and discovered that it requires service activation in order to use it. I ordered it to use the WI FI capability here until I reactivate my Verizon service when I get home this fall.
I have read several threads in different forums discussing procedures to bypass the activation screen and I've tried them all. Tapping the corners in a clockwise motion or canceling the (*228) activation call and rebooting 3 times. I even contacted Verison and HTC technical support and they couldn't figure it out either. They think it's because I have no cell phone service here so cancelling the activation call method doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to bypass the activation screen from the ##778 command on the emergency dialer. I have read where it's possible to bypass using the A-KEY command.
I got a Android Dev Phone 1 from U.S and now staying in China with China Mobile. I don't plan to use any GPRS connection and only want to use the voice and wifi feature of the phone for development work. I wonder if I can by-pass annoying APN setting screen? I don't understand why this is mandatory?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've done some pretty extensive google searching, as well as searching here on the forums, and unfortunately I can't find the answer to this one.If I flash a custom ROM to my DX with ROM Manager and Clockwork, will my phone require me to activate again with the Verizon service? I'm in Japan for the next 2 weeks, and obviously I'm away from any Verizon networks. I have service while roaming (and a temporarily upgraded international unlimited data plan), but I don't have access to some services that I normally would while on my "home network". In fact, if I go to the Settings > About Phone menu, the "Check for upgrade" option is completely grayed out.So what's up? If I flash a ROM am i screwed until I get back to the States?

Is there any way that you can get them to waive your activation fee for a new line? I'm purchasing my Droid at Best Buy.I just jumped ship from sprint. At Sprint you normally could call CS and eventually get them to waive your Activation Fee.Other times when the phone CS didn't work, usually we could just e-mail CS and they would waive your activation fee.I was told however that Verizon are very strict with their Activation fee.
