just out of curiosity do you have to use the activation screen that comes up when you boot or can you just do it online like any other phone and once activated that screen wont come up?

I went to reboot my Droid because it was lagging a little and when it came back on it go stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I pulled the battery, put it back in and held the X to boot in recovery and my recovery won't come up either. It just skips right to the Motorola M and if it doesn't get stuck there it goes back to the Cyanogen screen.
I haven't made any changes to the phone at all so I am completely puzzled on why this is happening. I obviously can't take it back to Verizon since its rooted so if there is a way to fix this I really want to because I love my phone and my wife will kill me if it is screwed up.
Love the Eris so far...minus 1 glitch which is hopefully user error. Has anyone else had a problem with it calling from your pocket? It has happened to me a few times the passed couple of days (just picked up the phone this weekend) where the screen is somehow activated in my pocket, possibly after a missed call or text, which results in "pocket dial". Is there an alternative method to "unlock" the screen so maybe it doesn't happen so easily? This is my first touch screen to maybe there is a trick I don't know about.

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I'm relatively new to rooting. I'm running BB .4, and that went okay. I'm trying to install a theme using ROM Manager. I backup and wipe and it loads into recovery and all that. That runs okay. Then, when it's rebooting, it gets stuck on the DROID screen. Well,actually, it does it once, goes to the Droid eye, and then just repeats the DROID screen over and over. A battery pull allows me to get back into recovery, which lets me restore my back up and then it boots just fine, but I'd really like to make my phone purple. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone and have been using the 3G hotspot and some overclocking apps. Today I decided to load a custom rom. I did some research and bought Rom Manager and Bootstrap. I did the bootstrap and than rebooted to recovery. Than I installed rubix from the sd Card. I found someone else with the problem here and people told them to pull the battery and get into recovery. When I do that I get a droid with an exclamation mark screen. I cant seem to get into recovery or do anything and I am stuck at the rubix boot screen. It seems my problem is because I did not wipe my date or clear cache when installing... but I can't get into recovery to re-do it!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my droid to froyo (sapphire) and everything seemed to be going smooth until i rebooted the phone from recovery. The motorola M screen came up and then the sapphire came up. After about ten seconds it goes away and reappears and has been doing this for the past 35 minutes. Is this normal? Any clue on what i need to do to fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have to send my X back and well, it has the boot image of an android peeing on an apple. I don't think Verizon will take to kindly to that. So I have to reset the entire phone and get it back to factory defaults. I don't know how to change the boot animation.

My wife's new Droid just arrived and I'm planning to put JRummy's Pink Froyo on for her. Thought it might be nice to have it done prior to her getting home from work. I'll obviously still be signing in with her google account and I have wifi at home should I need to access any data. But she needs her current phone right now and activating this new one would in turn deactivate the one she has with her.

My part0 folder is below could someone please write the desc.txt file, zip it and get it working for me please. I'd like it to stretch the width of the screen and the height doesn't matter. I'm in Japan for the next 2 weeks, and obviously I'm away from any Verizon networks. I have service while roaming (and a temporarily upgraded international unlimited data plan), but I don't have access to some services that I normally would while on my "home network". In fact, if I go to the Settings > About Phone menu, the "Check for upgrade" option is completely grayed out.So what's up? If I flash a ROM am i screwed until I get back to the States?

At Sprint you normally could call CS and eventually get them to waive your Activation Fee.Other times when the phone CS didn't work, usually we could just e-mail CS and they would waive your activation fee.I was told however that Verizon are very strict with their Activation fee.
View 24 Replies View RelatedFor the past 2 hours I have been searching this site and reading about Rooting and Flashing new ROM's etc. and I'm still having trouble. I downloaded Cyanogen 6.0.0 and when the phone re booted it got stuck at the Cyanogen boot animation screen, and when I pulled the Battery and rebooted in to recovery I was able to restore everything and now the phone works again.
So first off, how long should it take after downloading a new ROM to boot back up with the new ROM installed? And how can I save the ROM in to the SD card? And when I go to DL Cyanogen it asks which home application I should use and gives me ADWlauncher and Launcher 2 as options.
I'm kind of new to Rooting and Roms but I keep getting the same problem while installing Roms using Rom Manager. I flash and then I install the ROM and everything goes well until the boot up screen. It gets stuck in a loop of the Droid and Droid Eye animation and I have to restore it. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I am using the Droid with Froyo, rooted using Easy Root.

I can only get this message when plugged into the wall charger. If i plug into USB to PC i get just a green light where the power light is any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, I have 2 accounts on my X - one is a Gmail that I rarely use, and the other is a hotmail account which is frequently used.
I'm coming from Black Berry and I kinda understand that the mail is delivered differently but ever since I set up my hotmail I've received 3 sets of the same messages, read or un-read. Now every time this has happened there has been 1 new unread message, so I assume its when my X syncs with the server. Is there something I can change, or should have done during setup? I'm using the stock email app.

I've got a blacklisted Droid and need to bypass the activation at the beginning. I can't figure how to use the phone without activating first, which can't be done.
Does anyone know a way to bypass this activation and go straight into using the phone?
I made a boot animation. Not great but I am trying. Anyway, I can get it to look right when it is set to the center of the screen (480x427 not full screen) but when I set it to 480x854 (full screen) it gets stretched out. I was told the png files had to be 256x256 so I don't know what I could change so it doesn't look stretched. My animation looks like my avatar that I made and it looks just like it does here before applying the 854 settings. After seeing a lot of other custom boots mine isn't looking so good.

My phone boots up OK then it goes to the activation screen but after a couple of seconds (10 - 30, seems random) the phone hangs. When it's at the activation screen it seem to connect to the cell service (Fido) but R in the status bar would indicates that it's roaming (clue?). I have to take out the battery to reboot. It's a T-Mobile G1 that I'm trying to get working with Fido (Canada). It's a phone I bought used (activated but locked) but then I reseted it to factory default which deactivated it. I unlocked it. I tried to activate it through wifi. Followed the instruction and downgraded it to rc29. I've tried different rc, different roms, same thing.

Ok, so why would I want/need to do this? Simple, I'm deployed to Iraq and my cell phone service is on a military suspense. I did a reset after the last update, and now cannot use the device until it's activated, or I find a way to bypass the activation.
What I've tried so far (thanks to Google):
-tried tapping the 4 corners, starting top left, going clockwise. Doesn't apply to this phone, but was still worth a shot.
-"end call" on activation 4-5 times
-reboot 3-4 times

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm a soldier stationed in Afghanistan and I received an INC in the mail today that I ordered a week ago. Charged the battery, powered it on and discovered that it requires service activation in order to use it. I ordered it to use the WI FI capability here until I reactivate my Verizon service when I get home this fall.
I have read several threads in different forums discussing procedures to bypass the activation screen and I've tried them all. Tapping the corners in a clockwise motion or canceling the (*228) activation call and rebooting 3 times. I even contacted Verison and HTC technical support and they couldn't figure it out either. They think it's because I have no cell phone service here so cancelling the activation call method doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to bypass the activation screen from the ##778 command on the emergency dialer. I have read where it's possible to bypass using the A-KEY command.
