I got a Android Dev Phone 1 from U.S and now staying in China with China Mobile. I don't plan to use any GPRS connection and only want to use the voice and wifi feature of the phone for development work. I wonder if I can by-pass annoying APN setting screen? I don't understand why this is mandatory?

I have a Droid Eris that i just got with the 2.2 leak i think well the phone was acting up so i reinstalled the leak now i cant get pass the activation part. if i hit activate the screen goes black and i cant touch anything to make it go back on i have to take out the battery but emgency calls work fine but its only 4 emergency so im asking is there any way to bypass the activation or a way to go back to 1.5 plz help me i really like the phone i would like 2 mainly use it 4 music. N i dont have verizon as my servce so cant go 2 them 4 help or can i?

My phone boots up OK then it goes to the activation screen but after a couple of seconds (10 - 30, seems random) the phone hangs. When it's at the activation screen it seem to connect to the cell service (Fido) but R in the status bar would indicates that it's roaming (clue?). I have to take out the battery to reboot. It's a T-Mobile G1 that I'm trying to get working with Fido (Canada). It's a phone I bought used (activated but locked) but then I reseted it to factory default which deactivated it. I unlocked it. I tried to activate it through wifi. Followed the instruction and downgraded it to rc29. I've tried different rc, different roms, same thing.

Then turned it on and it went right to the home screen......on my eris when I got it new I had a screen that came up right away about must activate to go further. Ok, so why would I want/need to do this? Simple, I'm deployed to Iraq and my cell phone service is on a military suspense. I did a reset after the last update, and now cannot use the device until it's activated, or I find a way to bypass the activation.
What I've tried so far (thanks to Google):
-tried tapping the 4 corners, starting top left, going clockwise. Doesn't apply to this phone, but was still worth a shot.
-"end call" on activation 4-5 times
-reboot 3-4 times

View 2 Replies View RelatedLove the Eris so far...minus 1 glitch which is hopefully user error. Has anyone else had a problem with it calling from your pocket? It has happened to me a few times the passed couple of days (just picked up the phone this weekend) where the screen is somehow activated in my pocket, possibly after a missed call or text, which results in "pocket dial". Is there an alternative method to "unlock" the screen so maybe it doesn't happen so easily? This is my first touch screen to maybe there is a trick I don't know about.

Charged the battery, powered it on and discovered that it requires service activation in order to use it. I ordered it to use the WI FI capability here until I reactivate my Verizon service when I get home this fall.
I have read several threads in different forums discussing procedures to bypass the activation screen and I've tried them all. Tapping the corners in a clockwise motion or canceling the (*228) activation call and rebooting 3 times. I even contacted Verison and HTC technical support and they couldn't figure it out either. They think it's because I have no cell phone service here so cancelling the activation call method doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to bypass the activation screen from the ##778 command on the emergency dialer. I have read where it's possible to bypass using the A-KEY command.
How to get pass the activation screen on the Droid Eris to view the phone? I know on the Motorola Droid u can bypass by touching each corner of the screen, but this does not seem to work on the Eris.

It will be a variety of phones so that is why I am posting this here.It appears there are several different ways of bypassing the screen.I seriously doubt that they will allow Rooting of the phone, but I will pass it along as a suggestion.
Seems like the most common is the 4 corner clockwise tap. This seems to work for HTC and Motorola.What I cannot find is if this is permanent or not? If the phone Is powered off and then back on, does this have to be done again or is it once and done?I've read both, but without device in hand, I cannot confirm or deny.

I've got the Google dev phone from USA and I'm trying to activate it on Telenor in Norway. I've tried a whole bunch of different APN settings but nothing seems to be working. After filling in my username and password it tries to connect to google servers for activation a couple of minutes before it reports an error "There is a problem communicating with the Google servers." I've tried to delete all APNs and adding a new one. The settings I'm using now is: Name: telenor APN: telenor MCC: 242 MNC: 01 The rest is unset. I've also tried with username/password "dj/dj" and "wap/wap". And also changing the APN value to "internet".

The main.xml contains the layout (view) of the main screen. I have created an options menu which has another screen which shows you setup (R.layout.setup). The dialogsetup.xml contains the layout (view) for it.
When you press the menu button, you get the options menu. If you select "Setup", then it will display the setup screen. Now what I need to do is take the values from the setup screen (radio button and text values) and place them in the main screen so that when you exit the setup screen and go back to the main screen, you can take those values and use them in your main code.
A couple of days ago i rooted my phone but just flashed engtools3. This morning i decided to try out a new ROM. I flashed XTR 3.01 and was going through the setup and was asked to activate my phone. But just to point it out again the moment can be turned off or put on airplane mode even while its locked. This may be a bad thing if someone steals your phone and you want to use someones phone to either call or text it so that it will ring to find out who has it. All the thief has to do is put it on airplane mode or turn it off to deactivate ringers, sound, and gps.

My questions are
1) Can i launch in the service following activities? if

3) I want to access empty space available on sd card. How should i do it??
For example, firstly download the app "ABC", "Open" button and "Uninstall" button will be displayed at the bottom of the screen when the installing is completed. Secondly, activate "ABC" by tapping this "Open", and tap HOME key when the app is running.　After that, restart the same app from the Launcher on the Home screen, and finish the restarted one from BACK key. Then, despite having closed the restarted one, the same app is displayed. (I forecast the cause, it is maybe the multiple activation of the app.)
Q1. Is it the problem as the specific of Android Market that multiple activation occurs when the app is activated with above process? If it's no problem, is the cause the app "ABC" which I downloaded? Q2. Is there any way to avoid the multiple activation in designing of apps?
