HTC EVO 4G :: Adding Temple University Email Account
Aug 7, 2010
I cannot for the life of me get this Temple University email on this phone. I hate to compare to the iPhone but it was a straight forward process. How do I get this email account on here?

I have been trying to add an email account to my phone through the email button.I have also tried using K-9, but still no luck.I have added my gmail account with no problem, but would also like to add my yahoo email address. There seems to be a facility to do so.I have put my yahoo address and password in to the appropriate section, but the next page asks for my 'Username'.Any idea what the 'Username' means?I have tried putting in my yahoo email address, both with and without the 'yahoo.ca' bit, but I get an error message saying 'Setup could not finish.Username or password incorrect'.

I just bought an Epic 4G, and I'm trying to configure it with my email account. I clicked on the email icon on the home screen, and it instantly brought me to a screen that asks me to enter my email address and account password. "You can configure email for most accounts in a few steps," it says. Lies! I've entered my info at least ten times now, double-checked every time, and every time it tells me that either my username or password are incorrect. I promise you this is not the case. I'm trying to configure a Yahoo account.
I tried to add the account manually and the phone says it can't connect to the server.

I plan to get a Droid X here sometime in the coming month, and I'm terribly excited about it. One thing I'd really like to be able to do is check my university email on my phone, without having to go through a browser. Is it possible that I'll be able to do so? When I go to log in to the website where I check my email, it says "Microsoft Exchange" at the top. I've heard others mention "exchange" email accounts. Is this what it's referring to? Will I be able to check my universal inbox and get my school email?

I tried following the directions posted on my university's website and also contacted IT department but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Here are the directions I tried to follow:
GroupWise IMAP
Configure Your IMAP Client
Configure your IMAP client using these specifications:
imaps.luc.edu is your "Inbound Mail," "INBOX server" or "Incoming E-mail server"
993 is your "Port", for INBOX server Port," or "Incoming E-mail server Port"
SSL is your security setting.
mail.luc.edu is your "Outbound Mail," "SMTP gateway," or
"Outgoing E-mail server" if Loyola is your Internet provider (see note below)
your Loyola Computer ID is your username
the client should check for new e-mail every 10 (or more) minutes
Note: If you do not connect to the Internet through Loyola, your "Outbound Mail" or "Outgoing E-mail server" specification will NOT be mail.luc.edu. Check with your Internet service provider for the correct specification. The outgoing email settings must be incorrect. After fooling around, I managed to make it work so that I can read my university email with email app but responses to said emails will end up going through my gmail account. I want to be able to send outgoing messages through my university address as well. It should be possible seeing as my university is offering IMAP functionality, plus my girlfriend goes to the same school and her Blackberry is synced up with the email server perfectly.

Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

I'm trying to add a second gmail account (my wife's), and I keep running into a response message after a couple of minutes, saying "Can't establish a reliable data connection on the server". I've tried forcing the transaction through Wi-Fi and cellular paths, always with the same result.
I see any number of threads in a variety of forums with this problem, going back months, but I didn't find any viable solutions. The most common solution offered is to do a factory reset on the phone, which I'm not near ready to do yet.

I've set up an email account on my mini pro (NOT gmail or exchange) and it all works fine updating my inbox manually , however, I cant find any settings to automatically retrieve my emails periodically ( as far I can see auto sync refers to gmail or sony sync or road sync for exchange). Is there any way to auto sync an individual email account ?

I am currently using a x10i (x10?) on tmobile, i have the data plan ($10), and have my email connected via gmail. however, it seems like i have to do manual refresh in order to get email update. Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.

I am trying to set up my email account with Virgin Media on my Desire but I can`t get the settings right, it`s a pop account, I can receive mail but I can`t send it. I`m with Three mobile but my phones unlocked, When I connect via wifi to my home it sends ok, but this seems a bit pointless when I`m away from home.

I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.

I was wondering if it is possible to hook into the gmail and email applications and check to see if it contains text that matches a regular expression, and if it does, make that text into a link with a URI that would open my application. What i am thinking of is similar to how the gmail application can detect a web address or phone number and make it a link. Is something like this possible?

I remembered from my G1 days a way to sync the E-Mail app up to Yahoo's free (not PoP3) servers so I gave it try on my new BH2 and it works just fine:Here are the steps:
1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).

I have tried to setup the network and when it is all done the problem comes up that it won't connect to the network or I get a message saying network not within range.
