HTC Droid Eris :: Secure Way To Mount Road Bike?
May 22, 2010
I was finally able to come up with secure way to mount my Eris to my Road bike, although I believe it is secure enough to work on a mountain bike to but I will have to try that later. I had been looking for a while to find a way to attach my Eris to my bike without the use of bulky devices like the universal one from the bike store. I finally saw the Shell / Holster Combo at Verizon and decided to give it a try.
I purchased the Combo from Verizon for $23. Here is a link to the Combo. I have attached pictures. This Combo seems very durable so I think it is a good fit for this job. It says the phone is supposed to be faced in, but the holster doesn't appear to be causing any problems with the phone its just a snug fit. Which is what I want anyway..................

i will be doing a distance bicycle ride from philadelphia to atlantic city for charrity soon... i was going to stream pandora during my ride (going through the speaker on my hip) ... how long do you think the battery would last streaming on my hip? how much more charge do you think a double a battery would give my droid with this device? I'm thinking of getting this device so i can just plug in and charge my phone and keep on peddling my way along. this will be an all day event.

When purchasing the eris I had it in mind to possibly trade stocks from scottrade mobile, or pay my cell phone bill via it. How secure is this device to put important passwords into it?

I'm sure I'm not the only one with naughty pics of my girl friend or other girls on my phone that I don't want the girl friend, other girls, or friends and people in general to see...
Is there a way to put these files in a secure/passwored folder on the SD card that the "Albums" or any other video/pic app can't access? Besides keeping my phone locked, I don't want someone accidently flicking through the photo album and stumble upon these. Also I noticed even switching the Wallpaper shows all the pics on the phone.
I have an idea of an app called "Stash" where you can move any files (maybe even contacts/texts) to a particular place on the SD card that the phone can not find.

I have been trying to get help with this for awhile, but have got no where. I am about to just get a replacement. Only thing holding me back is that my moisture sticker is pink, even though I've never got this phone wet. Anyway, the issue. When plugging my phone to my computer, it will not recognize. Can't run ADB commands, do not get an option on the phone to mount sd card or that it's even connected. However, it will charge. I have loaded different ROM's, reloaded windows, tried it on ubuntu, multiple machines, different sd card in the phone.

I just added the leaked 2.1 yesterday and was trying to add the new 2.1 music player that a few people have added. I dl'ed it on my computer and connected my eris to my PC through USB. Once I connected, it gave me three options, charge only, HTC Sync, or disk drive. I chose disk drive and added the new musicplayer file to my phone. Forgetting how to access my SD card files, I went to Settings>SD card &phone storage> and quite regretably hit Unmount SD card. In doing this, the only option I have on that screen is to Format (erase) my SD card (Which I'd rather not do). Now when I connect using USB, I only get the first 2 options, charge and HTC sync, and cannot connect with my PC anymore as a disk drive. how I can connect back up with USB to my computer? and where do I go to access the files I've added to my SD card? Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking of getting a car mount and I'd rather mount it to the air vent than the windshield. Maybe something like this but I dunno.

I have had my HTC Droid Eris for 6 months now and am pretty pleased with it. I have an Apple computer and had downloaded an app to sync photos and music from my Eris to my Mac. It worked great! However. After I got the 2.1 update on my phone, my Mac and Eris cannot sync!!! I plug my Eris into my Mac, and it usually pops up on the phone with an option to Mount the SD card. However, now it merely shows the charging symbol over the battery icon and never gives me the option to mount! I can turn on debugging mode and when I plug in my phone to my Mac, it pops up with the debugging icon, so it recognizes it, but for some weird reason it won't mount!

I have Win XP Home Edition and HTC Eris (which I love). However, I seem to have lost the ability to mount / unmount the Eris as a USB drive a few days ago. I have transferred files from/to my sd card successfully, However I can no longer do so. Regardless of whether I have USB debugging set or not, I never see the "Mount USB" Notification any longer. It just "disappeared". How can I get it back?

Ever since I installed Android 2.1 on my Eris, I have been scouring the internet for a car mount for it that isn't an ugly, bulky, universal mount. The Moto-Droid and iPhone both have their own unique mounts all over the place... so my question is, is there one for the HTC Eris?

I know, I know, don't use your phone and drive, but you know, sometimes you have to. I find the droid kinda tricky to power on, unlock, then call a certain contact. There are way too many screens to go through, even with contact shortcuts right on my home desktop. What are your tips and tricks for making this process easier? I like the "voice dial" app and I wish I could tie that to one of the hard buttons on the side of the device. is this possible?

When I insert the USB cable, I can go to notifications and mount the SD card so I can transfer files to and from my PC. This all works fine. Lets say I am all done with the connection to my PC so I want to disconnect the USB cable. I go to notifications and select "turn off USB storage". I get the message that I need to "unmount the host". So I go to settings and unmount the SD card, go back to notifications and turn off usb storage. Done, all this works fine too. Later in the day, I want to browse some videos and picture that are located on my SD card. I get the message "SD card unmounted". No problem, I will just go to setting and mount it? However, not mount option exists in settings. The only way I can mount the SD card after it has been unmounted, is to insert a USB cable, go to notifications and select mount, or to power off my phone and then power it back on.

I do not like windshield suction cup mounts when using a GPS in my car.
I always used a dashboard beanbag mount with my Garmin GPS.
I just bought the Droid X Car Mount and I can now use my Garmin beanbag with it by inserting the ball joint into the back of Droid X car mount - fit's perfectly.

Folks - does anyone have an opinion on which email package is better, roadsync or touchdown? I have touchdown on the device now and while it works fine, its relatively slow and locks up a fair amount. The fact that Roadsync was developed by DataViz made me think it might work a bit better. I don't want to go through the pain and suffering of setting it up if it isn't better.I actually wish the embedded app would work with exchange and then I wouldn't have to do any of this! Anyone know when they are going to fix it?

Found this in another board in this forum. Installed it and it works fine on my Captivate. The only mods I use are Rooted and Non-Market Apps enabled in settings.db. Otherwise, its a stock phone. I text a lot while walking. I DONT recommend anyone try this while driving, but for walking while texting its quite handy..
The app is called Road SMS:Walk Safely With The Samsung Road SMS App AndroidSPIN | Your No.1 source for Everything Android.
Galaxy S users can download it via Samsung Apps, but since AT&Greed is the devil, we cant download it. If you have sideloading/Non-Market Apps enabled, you can grab the apk here and install.

When the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).
HBoot: 6.93.1002
S-Off ( Revolutionary)
Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.

After getting the update to CL14 we were told the Sprint Nav would be fixed. We have spent hours on the phone with Sprint support and TelNav (the supplier of Sprint Nav) and they told us that the hardware on my Moment is faulty and to replace the phone! The problem with the Nav is that it sometimes does not register my location on the road, gives incorrect directions, and sometimes the correct direction too late (i.e. after we already missed the turn). All the necessary settings on phone are on: GPS and Wifi - which is what we were told.So - does anyone have a fully functioning Sprint Nav on their Samsung Moment phone updated to CL14?
