with the new 2.1 leak and the use of google navi, can anyone suggest a good mount for my car?
brands/diff types? i want a simple/clean looking version.
I have been trying to get help with this for awhile, but have got no where. I am about to just get a replacement. Only thing holding me back is that my moisture sticker is pink, even though I've never got this phone wet. Anyway, the issue. When plugging my phone to my computer, it will not recognize. Can't run ADB commands, do not get an option on the phone to mount sd card or that it's even connected. However, it will charge. I have loaded different ROM's, reloaded windows, tried it on ubuntu, multiple machines, different sd card in the phone.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just added the leaked 2.1 yesterday and was trying to add the new 2.1 music player that a few people have added. I dl'ed it on my computer and connected my eris to my PC through USB. Once I connected, it gave me three options, charge only, HTC Sync, or disk drive. I chose disk drive and added the new musicplayer file to my phone. Forgetting how to access my SD card files, I went to Settings>SD card &phone storage> and quite regretably hit Unmount SD card. In doing this, the only option I have on that screen is to Format (erase) my SD card (Which I'd rather not do). Now when I connect using USB, I only get the first 2 options, charge and HTC sync, and cannot connect with my PC anymore as a disk drive. how I can connect back up with USB to my computer? and where do I go to access the files I've added to my SD card? Thanks in advance!

View 30 Replies View RelatedI have had my HTC Droid Eris for 6 months now and am pretty pleased with it. I have an Apple computer and had downloaded an app to sync photos and music from my Eris to my Mac. It worked great! However. After I got the 2.1 update on my phone, my Mac and Eris cannot sync!!! I plug my Eris into my Mac, and it usually pops up on the phone with an option to Mount the SD card. However, now it merely shows the charging symbol over the battery icon and never gives me the option to mount! I can turn on debugging mode and when I plug in my phone to my Mac, it pops up with the debugging icon, so it recognizes it, but for some weird reason it won't mount!

I receive an error from windows saying 'USB Device Not Recognized'. It lists it as an unknown device and will not mount the SD card. Ive tried restarting both the phone and computer to no availer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Win XP Home Edition and HTC Eris (which I love). However, I seem to have lost the ability to mount / unmount the Eris as a USB drive a few days ago. I have transferred files from/to my sd card successfully, However I can no longer do so. Regardless of whether I have USB debugging set or not, I never see the "Mount USB" Notification any longer. It just "disappeared". How can I get it back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since I installed Android 2.1 on my Eris, I have been scouring the internet for a car mount for it that isn't an ugly, bulky, universal mount. The Moto-Droid and iPhone both have their own unique mounts all over the place... so my question is, is there one for the HTC Eris?

It will charge but now I can't even mount my phone
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was finally able to come up with secure way to mount my Eris to my Road bike, although I believe it is secure enough to work on a mountain bike to but I will have to try that later. I had been looking for a while to find a way to attach my Eris to my bike without the use of bulky devices like the universal one from the bike store. I finally saw the Shell / Holster Combo at Verizon and decided to give it a try.
I purchased the Combo from Verizon for $23. Here is a link to the Combo. I have attached pictures. This Combo seems very durable so I think it is a good fit for this job. It says the phone is supposed to be faced in, but the holster doesn't appear to be causing any problems with the phone its just a snug fit. Which is what I want anyway..................
When I insert the USB cable, I can go to notifications and mount the SD card so I can transfer files to and from my PC. This all works fine. Lets say I am all done with the connection to my PC so I want to disconnect the USB cable. I go to notifications and select "turn off USB storage". I get the message that I need to "unmount the host". So I go to settings and unmount the SD card, go back to notifications and turn off usb storage. Done, all this works fine too. Later in the day, I want to browse some videos and picture that are located on my SD card. I get the message "SD card unmounted". No problem, I will just go to setting and mount it? However, not mount option exists in settings. The only way I can mount the SD card after it has been unmounted, is to insert a USB cable, go to notifications and select mount, or to power off my phone and then power it back on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the magnetic flap of my droid pouch has activated the phone every time I insert or pull the phone in/out of the pouch. Even though, the screen will shut off as it supposes to be, but I just wonder will the magnetic will affect, or damage the phone, such as the GPS feature.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI understand that one should not use a case with magnetic closure because it adversely affects the Moto Droid -I believe the concern is the GPS radio. When I first got the Droid I used an old Covertec Palm case, which has magnetic closure, to tide me over until I bought a new case. Did I fry the GPS radio? Google Maps cannot find my location and my SMobile security system cannot find me either. WeatherBug is on and off in knowing my location. Thoughts about magnets and Droid?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI may be purchasing a Droid soon. One thing that worries me a little is the GPS/Dock function that "activates" when you dock it in the media or car dock. From what I understand this triggers due to magnets that the Droid senses.
I use a leather money clip that holds like 10 cards then has a clip with a magnet in it to hold bills. (See picture).
My concern is that if I keep the Dtoid in my right pocket with my wallet it's going to activate and start draining the battery like crazy. As the phone would be too big to fit in the small "change" pocket on jeans that I used to use for my LG Voyager and previous phones it has me a little worried how I'm going to tote it around. I may buy one of those glasses cleaning clothes and wrap it in that, but the magnetic portion could still be an issue.
I originally purchased a holster off of ebay that was meant for an iPhone (seeing as they're about the same dimensions), but its clasp is magnetic and will randomly confuse the phone into thinking it's in car mode.I just got another case (this one) that has a velcro clasp and was marketed for the Droid. Well...it came in the mail today and my phone definitely doesn't fit in it.Has anyone found a decent holster that doesn't use a magnetic clasp? I found that verizon has one, has anyone tried it? I don't ever use the belt clip, so I'd like to get a case that the belt clip is removable.
View 12 Replies View RelatedSo it's no secret that the super-special-awesome multimedia and car docks use magnetics to get you into that mode. But I got curious just now, so here is what happens when you put 1/4" cube neodymium magnets on certain spots on the device. If you already figured that this is how it works, good for you.
These pictures are terrible, yes. You can click on them to see them in their full-sized horror. I didn't make a point of being artistic here, I just want to show you what happens. And yes, that is a box of Sensodyne. It was on my bathroom vanity, which is the best-lit area of my house at nighttime.
This is where you want to put the magnet to activate the sensor.
But the polarity is the key to choosing which "dock" gets activated. I don't have a polarity indicator to tell me which pole is which, but suffice it to say that one pole activates multimedia, and the other activates car.
I tried this with 5mm diameter, 1mm thick neodymium disks, but they didn't work. That's the only other size I have besides 1" cubes which I'd be afraid to put by my phone though.
You may want to look into something like 5mm by 2mm or 10mm by 2mm or something. 1/4" cubes aren't very compact if you're looking to be thrifty and make your own dock. You could just slip a thin disk into your design and it'd be totally discreet. Hey, making your own dock or buying an el cheapo one and slipping in a 10 cent magnet sure beats buying a $30 one, doesn't it?
This also shows us that there may not be any more special docks to come, and if there will be, they won't be based on this technology. After all, both poles of the magnetic sensor have already been used.
I do not like windshield suction cup mounts when using a GPS in my car.
I always used a dashboard beanbag mount with my Garmin GPS.
I just bought the Droid X Car Mount and I can now use my Garmin beanbag with it by inserting the ball joint into the back of Droid X car mount - fit's perfectly.
I recently purchased an 8gb sdmicro card for my samsung moment, which i put in my phone, then got home tried to hook it up to my pc with the usb cable...nothning happened, but i got this error warning or so talking about usb malfunction or something, heres a screen shot of what i saw popped up. do i need to install new usb drivers for the phone? also i can hear the pc making that dun dun,... dun dun sound when u plug in a usb device, but it keeps doing it over and over... while the phones charing thru it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).
HBoot: 6.93.1002
S-Off ( Revolutionary)
Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.
When I plug my Eris into my PC using the USB cord I select "Mount as disc drive" however I cannot find my phone anywhere on my computer. I've tried restarting my computer and my phone and it still doesn't work.

I own a motorola milestone, and I love it to pieces. However, I am finding that the leather case I have has a magnetic clasp which triggers the phone to enter into multimedia mode. This is very annoying, as I never plan to use this mode so I was wondering one of two things.
1. am I able to reassign the magnetic trigger from "open multimedia dock app" to "enter standby". Considering I just rooted the phone, i would imagine that I have the priveledges to do so, but I'm unaware of what level that control would be on and if I could manipulate it without bricking the phone.
2. am I able to completely remove this app? so that the magnetic trigger just does nothing?
Has anyone used those magnetic macro or optical zoom lenses you can attach to the camera lens?
