I got my Eris 2 days ago. I updated to 2.1 yesterday, using the update function. I notice there is a new notification? icon in the top bar. It never appeared before the update. I looked through the manual both for 1.5 and 2.1 and it is not listed. It looks like an over the ear earpiece facing to the right, with an arc next to it like the satellite icon has when it is connected.

Is there anyway to clear the New Voicemail Icon from the notification bar w/o actually Checking the voicemail? It doesn't seem to go away for me when I hit clear notfications lol..... IDK why but having notfications on my screen of any phone i've had has bothered me immensly... and I hate checking my voicemail for one message I kno I will be deleting in the 1st 2 seconds of listening too it

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a Gmail account setup with a pop account tied to my Gmail. on my phone I only have the Gmail account. It does show an @ sign when i get pop mail via Gmail however it doesn't show up as a number on the mail icon. only when i get a true Gmail email does it show up as a number on the icon. once i go into mail and preview the email (pop) it will show as a number on the icon. any ideas?

It's the one that's telling you that there's new updates for you contacts/facebook friends. But, this notification is extremely slow so I see that theres updates on contacts that I saw in the news feed hours ago. Now I do have majority of my contacts synced with facebook obviously and I don't wish to unsynce them. So is there a setting to get rid of that icon?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hate posting a query about something so seemingly simple. I googled around and can't find a duplication of the icon in the notification area of my new (since January) Eris running 1.5 stock.
I'll describe it: it in most ways resembles a little musical note, perhaps an eighth-note, but with a diagonal slash through it (not in a circle as the "no" sign).
Nothing running in the background, music-wise. On page 47 of the user guide/manual is a list of all stock icons; it is not there. No new apps have been installed for weeks.Any ideas as to what it could be?
I recently switched from sense to home and I have a little problem.My email and messages icons dont have the notification icon when I receive my emails.Usually if you have two or three new emails it says so on the icon, well im not getting this.I am getting the notification icon up the task bar, but not on the icon.What to do?

I downloaded an imagine off Google picasa, it was successful, I cleared it, now every day the icon will appear with the same file name only a different time. Use case: Yahoo Weather app, the persistent notification in the pulldown is beautiful. I want it to always be there. However, the little temperature notification icon is pretty ugly, and I want to hide/disable it.
Using JB's "disable notifications" won't work since it will disable the entire notification, not just the icon.
I've had a D2 for some time now. no issues. My wife bought a D2 last night and wants to put music on her phone for ringers. I used Sailing media for mine, again no issues. Even with her card formatted and mounted the USB icon in the notification bar will not show up on her phone; therefore making me feel dumb.
My phone no issues, mass storage window pops up along with phone icon, hers.

I like how my Eris has default buttons to quickly switch on Wifi and Bluetooth, is there an option to do the same for GPS Satellites? i hate going through the settings menu to turn it on or off. I think i've seen pictures of peoples setups where they have this and airplane mode as quick on/off buttons but i can't seem to find it.

Yeah, so my wife's Eris has had a weird glitch since she got it in January. Before any suggestions, we've tried factory wipe, Settings > Applications and making sure it's the default action, but still no go.
Her messaging icon on the home screen launches other random programs at will. Sometimes it's the last used program, other times it's just completely random apps. I've searched for answers but no dice. Any suggestions? We've also tried recreating a new icon for the screen, and it does the same thing.
*edit* she did have Advanced Task Killer & Advanced Task Manager installed for a time, but has since removed them. I thought maybe it was an app, but she says it has done it since she unpackaged it from the box.
Is anyone else having problems with their mobile icon toggling on and off? Mine will not turn off. when I press it, it does its animation but stays green. Im not sure if the 3G is still on or not. I presume its off since i do not see the 3G icon in the top of the screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a friend with a moto droid using handcent and he is able to speak a voice quick reply into handcent and it types it out...(handy while driving). I installed handcent on my eris today and do not have the microphone icon available on the quick reply screen. Any ideas how I can get it to work? Is this available on the eris?

The only way i can get the GPS status bar icon to not be there is to restart the phone. I can kill all running apps, kill all running services, and put it in airplane mode and it continues to sit there and blink the little green lines for hours.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn my GPS on the satellite shows that it is active, I do my thing and when I turn gps off the satellite icon shows as active in the notification heading broadcasting still I have to reboot phone for it to disappear. Anybody else have this prob with the eris?
