Feb 17, 2010Can anyone make recommendations for a Better Keyboard skin with larger keys. I have downloaded quite a few, but they all seem to be very similar in size.

Motorola Droid X :: Froyo 2.2 With Droid X / Black Keyboard With Bigger Keys To Swype?
Aug 22, 2010Swype on the Droid X with 2.1 originally had a black keyboard with bigger keys to swype or type on. With Froyo, it's now showing as a white keyboard with smaller keys that looks look the Swype keyboard I had originally had on my Droid 1. Is this the "new" keyboard look for Swype on the Droid X or is there a way to bring back the old look before upgrading to Froyo on the Droid X? The version that is showing on the DX now is 1.64.40.9380.

Nov 12, 2009I have had the Droid for a week now...I m droid number 2 the first one the touch screen would not work. I am coming from a Blackberry curve. The droid Im finding is hard to text on. I have to text one handed (don't ask why..) so the phyical keypad does me no good. Is there a way to make the keys bigger on the touchscreen? I did 2300+ texts last month so I really need it to be easier to hit the keys. Also i find the words I've already texted are very small compared to the BB curve anyone have any thoughts on that. This may be too much phone for me..i love the apps amd how superfast it it. but the texting is a issue.

Jul 23, 2010Is it just me or are the keys a little too much on the skinny side? I am coming from an iPhone 3G and I found it much easier to type on that. I predominately type in portrait mode and I find myself having trouble with this keyboard, especially when it comes to the spacebar. This is a huge surprise actually. I was expecting it to be significantly easier because of the screen size, but it just isn't.
Maybe I just need to get more used to it. However, if this problem continues I think I'll have to return the phone because messaging and email are two of the biggest things for me. Can I download any other keyboard that have fatter keys? I tried Swiftkey which didn't really help. Does anyone have better keyboard on their Droid X?
HTC Droid Eris :: Make Notification Bar Bigger?
Jan 25, 2010Just got the phone over the weekend and love it! so far the best phone i have ever owned. is there any way to make the notification bar bigger? i have big fingers and so far that seems to be my only problem is trying to drag that bar down to see my notifications. if it could be like 5 pixels or so wider it would be much better.

Dec 30, 2009Being new to the Eris and smartphones in general, I apologize in advance if I've missed something common-knowledge...
Today I got a 16GB Class 6 SD card in the mail, one to both max out storage and to settle a hunch -- that the class of card (i/o speed) would noticeably affect how the Eris responded. Class 6 cards are about 30 - 50% more cash than Class 2, but triple the rated write speed. Just happened to find one cheap enough to try it out...
Wow. Not only has everything from the pattern unlock screen to the browser become far more responsive, but the stutter for actions in the Sense UI is gone.
Now, for the circumstances... formatted the new card and copied the entire old card's contents onto it w/USB & my desktop. Added another 2GB of music while mounted... still slick. Mind you, tasks themselves don't happen any faster... just the delay between them I'd gotten used to, vanished...
Am I missing something? I'd hate to get anyone's hopes up, if this is just something that only resembles a performance tweak. Either the system or software use SD memory more than I'm aware, or this is all in my head. All I can say for certain is that my Eris is much nicer to use now.

Nov 10, 2009I may be blind, but I can't find a way to type a "?" or a "|" I may be able to forgive the latter but what the heck on the "?" I figures at least it would be in the ALT-SYM menu, but it's not there either.

Jun 16, 2010Guys I find my self constantly hitting the period instead of the space bar and half of my texts/emails all have . laced all throughout them. Is there anyway to change the keyboard to where the space bar is bigger? I don't care about voice search so if I could get rid of that and make the space bar icon bigger that would be great.. is it possible?
I am coming from an iPhone where I could type like crazy quick on there. I can do the same on the Evo and love the bigger keys but for some reason the poisitioning of the space bar is killing me.
Motorola Droid :: Clip Corners Of Keys On Keyboard When Typing Fast
Nov 20, 2009I've done this several times with the W key on the keyboard. When I'm typing really fast and drag my fingers to type "saw" for example with just my left thumb I'll catch the bottom left of the W key while the A is pressed down and it'll lift up and make a popping noise. I'm worried eventually I'll snap the W off the keyboard.

Oct 17, 2011My wife really likes the idea of the bionic/lapdock combination. She wants to be able to use her phone like a netbook with a proper keyboard at least for typing up notes. She would also like to watch some netflix/hulu. In many ways the bionic/lapdoc combo seems perfect. You don't have to pay extra for the tethering, you get a real keyboard and a reasonable screen. Having said that I havent heard any very positive reviews. Mostly it seems like a great concept but poorly executed and really far too expensive.
Get a small cheap laptop and tether - most likely have to pay extra to the plan for tethering.Get a small bluetooth keyboard so at least she can type more easily, not so bad as the bionic has a pretty large screen, more reasonable still if the waits for nexus prime probably. Anything to watch out for when choosing a keyboard for this?
I tried to look for some sort of standalone screen with hdmi input that maybe you could plug the phone into but didnt find anything really, and nothing cheaper than the lapdock.
HTC Droid Eris :: Soft Keys - Supposed To Light Up?
Jun 19, 2010I'm on my 3rd Eris - replaced each one for the silent bug. This one hasn't gone silent yet, but the soft keys (home, menu, back, and search) don't light up. Major PITA when using the phone at night. When I took it back to Verizon,they said the buttons aren't supposed to light up. Now I'm second guessing myself. So, can someone with an Eris check it out on your phone and see if the buttons light up? Is there a setting for this that I'm missing? BTW - This last replacement shipped with 2.1 installed and hboot 1.49.

Is there a way to disable the bottom keys (Menu, Home, Back, Search, etc etc) from vibrating when touch? Even when I dial a number the keys are vibrating (haptic feedback) I've read the manual. May 2, 2010I have a couple quick questions about the Sense keyboard on my Incredible.
1. I'm coming from an iPod Touch keyboard and have been continuously hitting the period that is next to the space bar. Does anyone know if there is any way to remove certain keys from the keyboard? I really don't need a period and comma right next to the space bar on the alpha side. I know it's nit picky, but I like having a bigger space bar. 2. I've noticed when logging into websites that require a Username and Password that I am having to remove the keyboard when I go from the Username field to the Password field. On my iPod there was a "Next" feature that would automatically advance the cursor. Am I missing something on the Incredible? Didn't see anything available for switching data fields.
HTC Incredible :: No Input From Some Keys On Keyboard
May 1, 2010I am at a little over a day with my first smartphone, the Incredible.I'm mostly impressed, but this keyboard issue is really bugging me. Basically, here's what happens: I go to compose a message, I turn the device to landscape mode, and when I press the W key, it does not input regardless of where I push relative to the key. On rare occasions, it will work, but I can't think of anything that I might have done to fix the problem.I tried to sleep/resume, power off/on, remove/replace battery, and calibrate the text input, but there seems to not be any resolution.Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone figure it out? I'd hate to exchange the phone for this one thing, but you don't realize how often you need the W until it won't function!

While reading the kbd_qwerty.xml file I noticed the different tags used and explained here. I was expecting to see certain tag to reproduce what BetterKeyboard application does. They draw more than one key on each button. Example.
Are they adding images or this is somehow possible from the xml?
HTC Droid Eris :: Shift / ABC Keys Not Working Properly Since Update.
Jul 23, 2010Since I updated my software the other day, when I type a text message in the native program I cannot use the Shift (up arrow key) when the phone is vertical. When I flip it horizontal the shift key works, but then the ABC to # key no longer works. Does anyone else have this problem? Verizon's only advice was to pull the battery out...of course did nothing.

Jan 7, 2010I was smsing this morning on my HTC Hero using the normal virtual keyboard that came with the phone. But all of a sudden, the keyboard changed into something different.
The keys became smaller, the number keys are with the alphabet keys(on top), and there is an extra key to toggle to tamil(?) characters. And when I type, there is no more 'feedback' from the screen. The auto correct feature is gone too. how to get my old virtual keyboard back?
Android :: 3rd Party Keyboard Have Always Cursor Keys
Jun 22, 2010One nice thing with the Evo is the always there cursor keys. I like some of the alternative keyboards but they all require toggling the ABC/123 key to get to cursor keys and then you have to go back to the keyboard to continue typing. It's quite annoying, and no matter how convenient they are (better key spacing, swype and what not), I just keep going back to stock for that convenience.
With the Evo being the first 4.3" screen, there is plenty of real estate to throw cursor keys in there with the keyboard as shown. I'd gladly pay for swype, better keyboard or keyboard pro (think that's the main ones), if they were able to do this.
