Since I updated my software the other day, when I type a text message in the native program I cannot use the Shift (up arrow key) when the phone is vertical. When I flip it horizontal the shift key works, but then the ABC to # key no longer works. Does anyone else have this problem? Verizon's only advice was to pull the battery out...of course did nothing.

I put in all my hotmail info for the eris to automatically pull my emails several times a day. After a couple days it just stops working and then I have to reenter all my info again.It is frustrating.Has this happened to anyone else? How can this be fixed.Sorry if this is already covered here, but I did a search and nothing came up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedLast night, I checked "awake time," and it was about 6 hours (uptime was about 14 or 15). The 6 hours may have been a little bit high, but it was probably about right. This morning as soon as I woke up I checked awake time again, and it was at 14.5 hours. So it had been "awake" literally all night. I killed extraneous tasks before I went to bed, but here's what I've got installed:

This morning, I killed "Messages" because I read that the stock SMS app can cause the phone to stay awake, but "awake" time continues to increase despite the phone appearing to be asleep. A couple other things: we used my tracks yesterday, but turned off the GPS and killed the app when we were finished using it. And she played Teeter for like 20 minutes a little while before we went to bed.
Well, go the update in the middle of the night and now have a slight problem. I use the phone as an alarm and this morning it would not shut off. I have the side buttons set to disarm the alarm and nothing. I had to turn the phone completely off and then re-boot to get the damn alarm to shut up. Now I can't get "what do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze" outta my head (ringtone from Hangover).
View 14 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Froyo 2.2, Swype started to behave strangely. I noticed that with Froyo 2.2, Swype also got a newer version. However, the performance is much worst when compared to the previous version. Here is the summary of the issues which i noticed:
1. Incorrect word recognition. 30%-40% increase in incorrect recognition
2. Much higher CPU usage (hence battery drain)
3. Very bad performance in portrait mode as compared to landscape mode
For the past week or so I've been having issues with the bottom left corner of my touch screen (in portrait). If I am typing a text I cant select the letter Z or the shift/caps key. I also have a hard time selecting shortcuts in that corner. I am running the 1st 2.1 leak if that makes any difference. Is anyone experiencing touchscreen issues that may have any solutions or should I get a replacement? Does anyone think the OTA might fix this? BTW, I've calibrated my phone several times to no avail. It also happens in landscape but it shifts to the bottom right corner of course!

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I load gmail in the android browser, at the top it says "Faster Gmail available! Update now" I click on "Update now" and it goes through an install of something. Anyway, after the install the "Faster Gmail available! Update now" is still there. It will NOT go away!!!
A popup also says to change settings of the new stuff it installs go to settings->gears settings. When I click on "gears settings" in the settings menu, nothing happens I cant open the settings. I think my gears install is f-ed up and unfortunately I dont think I can uninstall and reinstall the stock browser and Id rather not do a factory reset.
Ever since my update I get a message that I the phone cannot play the video. Some play in low quality but when you try high quality it says it can't play it. I just go to the music category and most of the top videos I no longer can view. Did they change something with the update to prevent youtube videos from playing. A very low percentage play.
I'm using the youtube app on the menu.
I just updated my wife's phone to 2.1. Yahoo Mail however doesn't seem to be working. It logs into the account ok, but it shows "no mail" when I go into the mailbox. On my phone, however, it shows all of my mail, whether it is new or old.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI manually updated the phone with the file that was posted here as the leaked update. The process was easy and pretty much headache free. I used the trial version of MyBackup app and it did what its supposed to do. However I am facing some problems and have some questions also.
1. It seems that my display is not working correctly now. Maybe it is just me, but i can tell that that the backlight is not as responsive as it should be. It doesnt go to the set brightness level as fast and smooth as it was.
2. I let MyBackup restore the apps also and it was a mistake in my opinion. It erased the apps in "My downloads". Now not only can't I find a certain app (USA Today seems to disappear...and no, not the USA Today widget one. that one sucks. Anyone knows what happened to it?) I also dont know how to uninstall an app if it is not in my downloads. I suppose in manage applications? Correct me if I am wrong.
3. For me YouTube app started working better, but still says it cant play video in High Quality mode.
4. Anyone using something different from the People app?
5. Could not find a post about how to erase the vocabulary you added. I spelled something wrong and need to get rid of it.
6. The email is set to update once i day..still i get the notification as soon as I receive one. Help?
Overall, there is a little speed improvement. I didnt notice any drastic improvement, but its just quicker a bit. However, Id rather have my display back to working the way its supposed to be. I can wait until the OTA officially comes out.
It seems as though my droid x has a hard time with the wi-fi connection. I turn it on and the wi-fi signal comes up but i am getting horrible speeds. my ping is anywhere from 300 to 900 (Horrible) and then my download speed is 1400kbps or so. and the upload is around 1500 kbps or so. I have tried atleast a dozen tests. The speeds almost seem like 3g speeds. is it becuase the 3g isnt being turned off when the wifi is on and that is what i really am testing? please any advice would be great, i really like this phone but if my internet connection is going to be like this I don't think i can handle it.
View 18 Replies View RelatedA backlight used to turn on for the bottom hard press keys on my dx but ever since I downloaded and installed the live wallpaper panoplied, they don't turn on anymore. I don't know how or even why a live wallpaper would turn off backlight settings for the keys but its becoming a major inconvenience. I checked the settings but couldn't find where to tweak backlight settings. I also rebooted the phone and did a soft reset but that didn't work. Can anyone out there help a brother out?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to call in to the automated system and enter my jury ID number and pin. The ID number is 9 digits and the pin is 4 digits. When punching these numbers in using the stock dialer, the system I was calling kept messing up. It didn't prompt me like it should, and when it read my entries back to me, they were wrong. The system would report that I'd entered 88 when I'd entered 80 or something. I tried this 3 or so times before I started to think my phone was the problem. I called back with another phone and it worked fine (it was some old Motorola phone but I've actually interacted with this system using my iPhone 3G in the past just fine). I called the system back with my X and, this time, punched in the numbers slowly (half a second or so between key presses). This time, everything went swimmingly. I haven't replicated this on other automated systems, but it's clear at least one of them has a problem with the X's stock dialer when it's used quickly. Anyone have a similar problem?

3322.72 - 3321.92 then = and the answer is .799999
The correct answer is .80. This may seem like a minor point (.000001 error) but the answer is still wrong! Basic arithmetic operations should be a no brainer.A Verizon service rep confirmed this error on the Droid and Eris phones he had in their call center.
Using the stock Messenging app with the universal inbox. I have a couple of IMAP accounts setup and push turned on. Something odd happens to the Messenging app that prevents it from getting mail. It will hang quite often to the point where no mail is received at all until it gets unstuck (sometimes up to a half hour). If I go into the email account, it shows the spinning arrows as if it is trying to sync, but it just spins.
At first, I tried all the usual troubleshooting. I removed and re-added the e-mail accounts. I turned push off and on. I rebooted. I tried just about everything I could think of, but this has been going on since I got the Droid X. I made sure it was set to sync even when wifi is off. I'm not sure what is causing it to hang, but I removed and added each account and it's still happening. Eventually, I'll get the emails but sometimes it takes a half hour or more before it frees itself up. I can't even use a Task killer to kill the messenger app because when I open it back up, the arrows are still spinning.
I've recently rooted my droid and installed Bugless Beast 0.9 and Chevy1 OC'ing on it. Ever since then my browser will just decide to close and it takes me back to the home screen. I don't get a forced closed message it just takes me back to the home screen. I'm new to this rooting business so I'm not sure if there is something I am overlooking or what. I followed the instructions completed and wiped the phone before doing any of this.

When I click on send, search, or login nothing happens. It's frustrating when you're on the road and need to find something. I'm using the stock browser. We all are running the same operating system so maybe the update would work on the Eris' also. Some people Mentioned when using the leaked versions of 2.1 on their Eris' that some apps recognized them as using the SDK (who's 2.1 update is available as a download for on the official Android website) Which leads me to the theory that people have been loading the SDK update on their Eris'once again this is all theory and just a quick thought.

However, it only vibrates when I get a text message. Also, the sounds only happens at random times, when I have NO notifications. It really bothers me. I want my Droid to give off the notification ringtone only when I have notifications, not when I don't have them.

If people had to restart and pull the battery as much on a BB Storm, they'd be complaining like crazy. Actually I rarely had to pull the battery on my Storm. Of course the Storm sat for a long time trying to load a website, but it did.
This thing is starting to bug me. It's official now. Open media and Camera Roll doesn't show it's icon half the time. Start it up and everything on SD card takes a while to show an icon. Go to Market and every other time nothing loads. This little stuff is adding up. Feel free to add your little bugs.
Can anyone make recommendations for a Better Keyboard skin with larger keys. I have downloaded quite a few, but they all seem to be very similar in size.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm on my 3rd Eris - replaced each one for the silent bug. This one hasn't gone silent yet, but the soft keys (home, menu, back, and search) don't light up. Major PITA when using the phone at night. When I took it back to Verizon,they said the buttons aren't supposed to light up. Now I'm second guessing myself. So, can someone with an Eris check it out on your phone and see if the buttons light up? Is there a setting for this that I'm missing? BTW - This last replacement shipped with 2.1 installed and hboot 1.49.

Is there a way to disable the bottom keys (Menu, Home, Back, Search, etc etc) from vibrating when touch? Even when I dial a number the keys are vibrating (haptic feedback) I've read the manual. Just havent found a way to stop it
