I just installed handcent and it works great. The only thing is i get double the messages. I get one to my handcent and one to my default messaging app. I dont think i can uninstall the default program and i tried messing around with settings but still nothing.. Anyway i can turn off the messages going to my default messaging app?

Newly replaced Eris, so I'm reinstalling a lot of apps. But now I've forgotten how I fixed this problem the last time. I'm getting double the messages (and notifications), via both Messages and Handscent. All i really wanna see/hear from/use is Handscent.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed Handcent because of the battery drain issue, and like it a lot, but now I cannot turn off the OEM Messages program. I tried going into the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications to turn it off, and it doesn't work. I also did the "Use Handcent as default SMS" when that box first pops up. I get two different ringtone notifications too. Although I switched the ringer to the same one both through the phone's settings and through Handcent's settings.

Whenever i download it i end up receiving 2 messages, one from my original sms that comes loaded on the phone and one from Handcent sms. Any ideas on how to stop receiving them from the one that comes preloaded.

If I receive a sms or mms I want to send that to email but i don't want any notification on phone.
So basically I want to replace the default messaging application.
How can I make my application the default one that receive the sms?
I know this is probably something REALLY easy to do but i cant seem to figure it out. I just changed to using Handcent SMS instead of the default messaging app and i cannot find out how to stop the notifications from the default messager app, because now it shows 2 notifications, one for each app, and select them, it will take me to the message, but i'll have to manually clear the notifications. Anyone know a fix for this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having some problems with the default messaging app. Everything was fine until I downloaded Handcent. After playing around with Handcent, I decided to remove it. After I did, when I tried to send a picture with the default client, it would appear to send properly, but the person I was sending too would get a notification that the attached media was 'too large' or something similar, and not be able to view the picture Finally, I reinstalled Handcent and could send pictures from it just fine. I noticed that Handcent asks to resize pictures when sending where the default app does not. I could not find any settings for 'resize' in the default app. I figured I just had a bug with the default client, and continued to use Handcent with no problems. I would periodically check the default client, with the same results.Finally, after several days of using nothing BUT Handcent, I decided to give the default app another try, and now I find that it is working again with no problems, and in fact, the pictures I send with it that are apparently NOT resized look better on the phones I send them to than the ones I send with Handcent. Has anyone else had a problem like this, or know what could be going on?

Close it and the home screen still shows a "1" on it as though we haven't read it. How do we set it so that once a message is read, its closed.

- When i receive a picture message, its displayed in a slideshow and only have 5 seconds to view it before it disappears.
HOW DO I DISABLE THAT OR ADD MORE TIME TO VIEW IT?
- I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to save a picture i receive,

First post here. I tried searching (a lot) and couldn't find the answer. You know the box that pops up when you send a text that asks what app you want to use? There is a message at the bottom that tells you how to change defaults once you check the "don't ask me again" box. I didn't bother to read that and now can't find where to change the default. Anyone know or can someone look at that box and read what it says at the bottom? I can't anymore since I chose a default and the box no longer pops up.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow easy or difficult would it be to get the stock Android messaging app (like on the Nexus One) and modify the apk so that it will install on an UNROOTED Droid Eris? Because if you download the stock messaging apk, it won't install because it is basically named the same thing as my HTC messaging app that comes stock. So if Handcent and all installs as seperate messaging apps, is there a way to make the stock Android messaging different so that it will install? If I can modify the Handcent apk, resign, and install it successfully, shouldn't there be a way to modify the stock Android messaging app and install it without root?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cant load any contacts while trying to send a text (i can but it takes FOREVER!!!like over a minute or 2) say im trying to text "tammie" i will type in "t" and it will load everyone and their mothers names that have a "t" anywhere in their name, then take a minute or 2 to FINALLY find "tammie"...and half the time i find "tammie" it will close out as soon as i tap the name.. even if i go into people/contacts, and try to send a text that way it takes forever their info to load to get into message them. the fastest way is to scroll through all of my old text messages and hopefully i have text that person before..any ideas whats going on?
i cleared my web history, cookies ect..tried deleting photos and videos, and deleted all of my old texts, thinking i was somehow short on memory, even though i have a ton left...
So I got xtrROM 3.1 Beta and I love everything about it except the Vanilla Messaging app... I like it way better than the sense one... So is there anyway I can get it onto my phone without having to flash a different one? I know there was a port to of it for non root phones but supposedly it was having a bug that would make each message appear twice... so I don't want to deal with that.

Its all black, and just says ME: Other Persons name: no avatar etc. Anyone know if theres a way to show the contacts avatar/image just like the Hero? I hate to install handcent for functionality that basically already exists by default. I Know it doesnt have popup's etc like handcent, but unless theres another app out there? I just hate to install app after app taking up memory.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid Eris 2 days ago and have had multiple problems with it. The first problem was it wasn't receiving a signal at all. The 2nd problem I had was after I had wiped my device flashed the ROM and rebooted it kept saying htc.touch.input.app has encountered a problem and i had to force close it. Now it is not letting me get in to the stock messaging app to read any texts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've kind of made a similar post about this before. I keep having this issue where ill be txting someone and all of a sudden ill get constant force closes on my messaging app followed by it then losing all my threaded txts.
I'm using the native app with sms pop up and a sms widget that just makes my icon look like the eclair version.
I also sometimes have an issue where ill be txting, get a force close error and it will delete whatever txt I just received without being able to read it...
How do I get jpg that are sent to me in text messaging to save to the album? All i get on the menu screen is the option for wallpaper, lockscreen, footprint.
