So I got xtrROM 3.1 Beta and I love everything about it except the Vanilla Messaging app... I like it way better than the sense one... So is there anyway I can get it onto my phone without having to flash a different one? I know there was a port to of it for non root phones but supposedly it was having a bug that would make each message appear twice... so I don't want to deal with that.

The reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOK so if you use POP3 on several computers to get gmail, you may be familiar with this. Basically it makes it so every client gets your email. Anyhow heres my problem, freakin PoS default android email will not recognize it as a correct username. Is anyone familiar with this? Know a better email client than the default (and don't suggest K-9 please, I'm currently using it and hate it). I wish someone would get the HTC mail app to work on vanilla.

I have finally figured out how to get the Vanilla MMS app ported for us 2.1 leakers that can't root. Thanks to jonasl over at XDA for helping me figure this out. Took some time.Problems that I have with it:Every time someone sends you a message, it sends 2. It only notifies you of one, but two show in the thread. I'm trying to fix it.That's it so far, let me know of any you come across and I'll see what I can do.

I'm pretty tech savvy, so it's nothing over my head, I'm just unfamiliar with it.I'm really unhappy with Motorola's latest droid x update. Updating to Froyo seems to have just made my phone significantly slower, the rotation is less responsive, etc. (the 2.3.15 update) All I would really want to do is, I'd want to root the phone and just load a stock Froyo ROM onto here. No extra moto or verizon BS, just the stock OS and whatever apps I want on it. Does that make sense? How would I go about doing that?

One of my main motivations for going root was to get rid of the awful HTC dialer. I know there are few ROMs out there that use DialerOne as a default but I'm looking for something more like the Moto Droid or the other vanilla ROMs I've seen. A few people are running WhiteWidow ROM but it looks like that one's been taken down for now.

- When i receive a picture message, its displayed in a slideshow and only have 5 seconds to view it before it disappears.
HOW DO I DISABLE THAT OR ADD MORE TIME TO VIEW IT?
- I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to save a picture i receive,

I just rooted yesterday using the EE3.0 rom. I'm trying to use Metamorph to apply a new lockscreen, the Vanilla one from here: [THEME] Vanilla Lockscreen NON-Transparent Background [UPDATED: 07/05/2010] - xda-developers
I was able to apply the rotary one here [THEME] Rotary Style Lockscreen for EE 3.0 or CE 1.1 [UPDATED: 06/08/2010] - xda-developers
However, I can't seem to change it to the first one, which is the one I really like. Metamorph goes through and applies the XML and apk, reboots, but always comes back to the rotary one.
I'm new to this site although i've used it plenty of times for help with my eris. (for which i thank everyone) i've been looking into rooting and custom roms and whatnot for a while and last thursday i rooted and add the tainted vanilla v1.4 custom ROM and i love it. the wi-fi tethering and overclocking is so awesome. but i was wondering if my new rom automatically saves apps to the sd or if i have to enable this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow easy or difficult would it be to get the stock Android messaging app (like on the Nexus One) and modify the apk so that it will install on an UNROOTED Droid Eris? Because if you download the stock messaging apk, it won't install because it is basically named the same thing as my HTC messaging app that comes stock. So if Handcent and all installs as seperate messaging apps, is there a way to make the stock Android messaging different so that it will install? If I can modify the Handcent apk, resign, and install it successfully, shouldn't there be a way to modify the stock Android messaging app and install it without root?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cant load any contacts while trying to send a text (i can but it takes FOREVER!!!like over a minute or 2) say im trying to text "tammie" i will type in "t" and it will load everyone and their mothers names that have a "t" anywhere in their name, then take a minute or 2 to FINALLY find "tammie"...and half the time i find "tammie" it will close out as soon as i tap the name.. even if i go into people/contacts, and try to send a text that way it takes forever their info to load to get into message them. the fastest way is to scroll through all of my old text messages and hopefully i have text that person before..any ideas whats going on?
i cleared my web history, cookies ect..tried deleting photos and videos, and deleted all of my old texts, thinking i was somehow short on memory, even though i have a ton left...
How Do I stop the stock messaging app from turning on and running when ever i get a text and how do i do this with other apps thank you

View 9 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid Eris 2 days ago and have had multiple problems with it. The first problem was it wasn't receiving a signal at all. The 2nd problem I had was after I had wiped my device flashed the ROM and rebooted it kept saying htc.touch.input.app has encountered a problem and i had to force close it. Now it is not letting me get in to the stock messaging app to read any texts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've kind of made a similar post about this before. I keep having this issue where ill be txting someone and all of a sudden ill get constant force closes on my messaging app followed by it then losing all my threaded txts.
I'm using the native app with sms pop up and a sms widget that just makes my icon look like the eclair version.
I also sometimes have an issue where ill be txting, get a force close error and it will delete whatever txt I just received without being able to read it...
How do I get jpg that are sent to me in text messaging to save to the album? All i get on the menu screen is the option for wallpaper, lockscreen, footprint.

I get one to my handcent and one to my default messaging app. I dont think i can uninstall the default program and i tried messing around with settings but still nothing.. Anyway i can turn off the messages going to my default messaging app?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI made this update this morning. This will replace the stock HTC Dialer with DialerOne (it will actually integrate it into the phone), a much better option for a dialer. You can make this dialer look like the Vanilla dialer as well. Credit to the creator of DialerOne.

I've been playing around with a few different ROMs to find the one that's the most stable for me, but something weird has happened. Most of the ROMs I like the best have the vanilla dialer which I love but the look of the dialer has changed and I'm not sure why.
At one point the dialer had the END, SPKR, MUTE etc., on the call screen so if you pulled the phone away from your ear you could see those buttons. Now when I'm on a call I have a little tab that I have to pull up to access the number pad and I have to hit MENU to bring up the END, SPKR and MUTE settings. I really want to go back to the way it was before. This has happened on several ROMs.
