View 6 RepliesDoes the new 2.1 OTA for the eris include voice-to-text feature for the keyboard entry? I don't see it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the official OTA update to 2.1 and I've had a lot of fun playing with it, but one thing I was really looking forward to was the "New support for Voice-to-Text entry" that Verizon claimed on it's official Droid Eris Update Features List: http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/eris.pdf
At this point I feel like an idiot not being able to find it. I know that it's usually just a microphone on the keyboard, but there is definitely no mic icon for me. Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone been able to use voice-to-text on their newly updated Droid Eris?
I would honestly love to find out that I'm just being stupid and the answer is right in front of me... but the more I look, the more discouraged I get.
Could be a coincidence, but it appears it started happening right after I did the PRL update (*228). I have voice and text, but no email/pandora/weather bug/market. All I get is 'network error...I have done another *228, rebooted several times and did a battery pull.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI know that the OTA update for the moto droid included a voice to text feature in the stock sms. Does 2.1V3 for the Eris include this too? Autolock runs in the background, does anyone know if this sucks the battery dry?

View 3 Replies View RelatedToday i tried to do something that i used to do back in my Alias 2 days (regular cellphone), but couldn't.
Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone...
I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.
Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big
When driving, I'd like to have my Droid read my emails to me, so I don't have to look and drive, err... wait for a stop light to read my email. Is there an app for that?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was about to come on here and praise how cool the new Voice to Text feature is in the new 2.1 update but I have found it to be a pain in the neck. I was driving the other day and decided to use it. I spoke very slowly and enunciated the words clearly and that thing wrote something entirely different. No offense but I sounded like a slow person the way I was talking and it still typed the wrong thing!

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter some hours of being on/being used/whatever, my Droid X occasionally freezes when I press the voice-to-text button on the Swype keyboard, as well as the same button on the search widget (basically anything that uses the voice-to-text service). The rotating symbol is shown on the screen, but it's frozen, and so is the rest of my phone unless I hit home. I don't have a task manager running, and restarting the phone allows me to use voice-to-text again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem with voice to text: when I click on the microphone icon on the Swype keyboard, the phone locks up with the rotating graphic frozen in the center. The keyboard also becomes unresponsive and I can only press the Home key to return to the Home screen. I switched back to the multi-touch keyboard and the voice to text worked just fine. Does anybody have the same problem or have any tips for fixing this? I really prefer the Swype keyboard but will have to stop using it if the voice part doesn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedYou get the number from Google voice and obviously you can make calls. Why can't you just cancel your voice and text plan and just keep your data package and use it like that? Will T-Mobile allow that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using google voice to get visual voice mail, however it is using up my limited text messages. Is there a way I can avoid the visual voice mail from going to text and access them directly through my gmail?.As well as, my voice to text on google voice is usually unreadable is this normal?.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Droid 2 running 2.3 and a Bluetooth headset (Samsung HM3500). Speech-to-text (of the sort activated by pushing the microphone button in any text-input field) does not work through the Bluetooth headset.
Oddly, after initially booting up the phone, it works through the built-in microphone. I then activate and pair my headset. Voice recognition doesn't work through the headset (or through the built-in mic). I then disable Bluetooth, turn off the headset. Voice recognition continues not to work!
I know the headset works. And when I press the headset button, it enters "voice command" mode where it asks me to "say a command." This mode works over the Bluetooth headset! Also, I tested this behavior in the Voice Recognizer of ApiDemos, and its also broken in the way described above.
So I have the Droid X but I noticed that the Droid 2 now has a themed version of Swype to fit in with the rest of the UI. I like it a lot.
My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
Ocassionaly, when responding to a text, the area you type in for me that says "Tap to compose" is greyed out and when I type, nothing happens. Usually requires a reboot. Anyone have any idea why it would be doing this or how to fix it? I love my phone, but the reboots take forever.
View 2 Replies View Relatedis there a way to set this up? when I choose to send a txt it asks me gv or handcent if I choose handcent I think the txt is through my mobile number, right? if they dont work together what is the best way to text without using the gv app?

View 14 Replies View RelatedYou know how when you type something incorrectly it corrects it to the most likely word? Well, in a few cases I have saved words on accident, like I saved the word "tou" once by accident. So now every time I type that it stays at that and doesn't auto correct to "you." How can I go into my saved words or even predictive text menu and edit words?

Anyone know of any apps that disable this feature? or just a setting in general that i am missing?
So I got a invite using my edu email account. Basically now I have to decide if I want to use goggle voice with my current phone number everyone knows or make a whole new one which gives you extra features like free sms. Which way did you guys go, and also lets say I choose to keep it with my current number, could you in the future decide to make a goggle number or are you stuck with that decision you made when signing up?
View 8 Replies View RelatedRight now I have my gps voice disabled on my 2.1 leak. Is there anyway to change/download better voices to encourage the use of the voice?(at least for me) idk what anyone else thinks but this would certainly be funny just to have for kicks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI assume that this has been asked and answered many times before, but the market keeps changing and new tools come and go. To put it plainly, the existing voice dialer in the ERIS stinks, and there doesn't seem to be any change with 2.1 over 1.5. Are there good dialers that can be purchased or freebees? I know about Vlink or something like that but the Beta is closed and the real version hasn't been released yet. What is everyone using?

View 40 Replies View RelatedCan we download the HTC Keyboard apk file from Here ? I would really like to try voice input to text and email. Swype is great, but would like to have the option. I am using the leaked 2.1 OS as well. Has anybody tried this install from XDA forums? I want to make sure I don't ruin my phone if I do.
