Motorola Droid :: Text To Voice App
Dec 2, 2009When driving, I'd like to have my Droid read my emails to me, so I don't have to look and drive, err... wait for a stop light to read my email. Is there an app for that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was about to come on here and praise how cool the new Voice to Text feature is in the new 2.1 update but I have found it to be a pain in the neck. I was driving the other day and decided to use it. I spoke very slowly and enunciated the words clearly and that thing wrote something entirely different. No offense but I sounded like a slow person the way I was talking and it still typed the wrong thing!

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter some hours of being on/being used/whatever, my Droid X occasionally freezes when I press the voice-to-text button on the Swype keyboard, as well as the same button on the search widget (basically anything that uses the voice-to-text service). The rotating symbol is shown on the screen, but it's frozen, and so is the rest of my phone unless I hit home. I don't have a task manager running, and restarting the phone allows me to use voice-to-text again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem with voice to text: when I click on the microphone icon on the Swype keyboard, the phone locks up with the rotating graphic frozen in the center. The keyboard also becomes unresponsive and I can only press the Home key to return to the Home screen. I switched back to the multi-touch keyboard and the voice to text worked just fine. Does anybody have the same problem or have any tips for fixing this? I really prefer the Swype keyboard but will have to stop using it if the voice part doesn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Droid 2 running 2.3 and a Bluetooth headset (Samsung HM3500). Speech-to-text (of the sort activated by pushing the microphone button in any text-input field) does not work through the Bluetooth headset.
Oddly, after initially booting up the phone, it works through the built-in microphone. I then activate and pair my headset. Voice recognition doesn't work through the headset (or through the built-in mic). I then disable Bluetooth, turn off the headset. Voice recognition continues not to work!
I know the headset works. And when I press the headset button, it enters "voice command" mode where it asks me to "say a command." This mode works over the Bluetooth headset! Also, I tested this behavior in the Voice Recognizer of ApiDemos, and its also broken in the way described above.
is there a way to set this up? when I choose to send a txt it asks me gv or handcent if I choose handcent I think the txt is through my mobile number, right? if they dont work together what is the best way to text without using the gv app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to compose a new txt message in GV, I dont have the option of adding a contact. I have to type in a phone number. Is there anyway to integrate Google voice with contacts?
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I have the Droid X but I noticed that the Droid 2 now has a themed version of Swype to fit in with the rest of the UI. I like it a lot.
My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
When Trying to use voice to text, for an e-mail, text, pretty much anything i get a "connection problem"
Anyone know of any apps that disable this feature? or just a setting in general that i am missing?
I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes the new 2.1 OTA for the eris include voice-to-text feature for the keyboard entry? I don't see it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the official OTA update to 2.1 and I've had a lot of fun playing with it, but one thing I was really looking forward to was the "New support for Voice-to-Text entry" that Verizon claimed on it's official Droid Eris Update Features List: http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/eris.pdf
At this point I feel like an idiot not being able to find it. I know that it's usually just a microphone on the keyboard, but there is definitely no mic icon for me. Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone been able to use voice-to-text on their newly updated Droid Eris?
I would honestly love to find out that I'm just being stupid and the answer is right in front of me... but the more I look, the more discouraged I get.
You get the number from Google voice and obviously you can make calls. Why can't you just cancel your voice and text plan and just keep your data package and use it like that? Will T-Mobile allow that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCould be a coincidence, but it appears it started happening right after I did the PRL update (*228). I have voice and text, but no email/pandora/weather bug/market. All I get is 'network error...I have done another *228, rebooted several times and did a battery pull.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI know that the OTA update for the moto droid included a voice to text feature in the stock sms. Does 2.1V3 for the Eris include this too? Autolock runs in the background, does anyone know if this sucks the battery dry?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to develop an app around the voice recognition functionality of Cupcake.
As a sample code, I used the VoiceRecognition.java project available under API Demos. (http:// developer.android.com/guide/samples/ApiDemos/src/com/example/android/ apis/app/VoiceRecognition.html)
I want to know if I can extract the text result on the list view and use it as a String further on? The part of code I am refering to is below where mList is defined as ListView:
CODE:.................
I want to use the result to be able to take further action.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm really keen to get this working. I've tried installing from several locations. I follow all the steps correctly ( i think!), but every time i tap the text box with the htc mod enabled i get this error message.

Has anybody used Voice Text in the UK? I'm only asking because one of the comments in the Market says it's not available. If yes is it any good? Does it work well?
