Right now I have my gps voice disabled on my 2.1 leak. Is there anyway to change/download better voices to encourage the use of the voice?(at least for me) idk what anyone else thinks but this would certainly be funny just to have for kicks.

Today i tried to do something that i used to do back in my Alias 2 days (regular cellphone), but couldn't.
Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone...
I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.
Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big
In what way can a google voice number be used with an eris? I see alot of people wanting a GV invite. What can be done that is so sought after?

Basically now I have to decide if I want to use goggle voice with my current phone number everyone knows or make a whole new one which gives you extra features like free sms. Which way did you guys go, and also lets say I choose to keep it with my current number, could you in the future decide to make a goggle number or are you stuck with that decision you made when signing up?

To put it plainly, the existing voice dialer in the ERIS stinks, and there doesn't seem to be any change with 2.1 over 1.5. Are there good dialers that can be purchased or freebees? I know about Vlink or something like that but the Beta is closed and the real version hasn't been released yet. What is everyone using?

View 3 Replies View Relatedthe voice comman feature of the eris is pretty interesting. long press the green call button to bring it up, here are some suggested commands that came built into the my touch some work, some dont, if you try one let us know if it works or not.i do know that you can say "open (app name)" and it will open any app on your phone, it's pretty good, even got bonsai blast.

View 22 Replies View RelatedOK I see there are a few threads on this so called "voice dialer".However, if you're driving along and activate voice dialer (which is simple enough, no problem there) what's the point of having to say "Call Robert Smith" and then have to look at the screen, see if it's got the correct name and touch it to make the call?Doesn't this defeat the purpose of voice activated dialing?My older Motorola Krave had a real touch free voice dialer that responded to you and asked if it's choice was correct at which point you could say "yes" and it would dial it.Now we have the latest greatest Androids that can't do that.Whoever developed this app had no clue about the dysfunction and potential hazards involved with this "feature".I love my Eris but was completely disappointed with this app.

I used to tap my bluetooth, have my phone in my purse and say 'Call Bob Mobile' and woosh - it calls Bob on his mobile. I've tried the voice dialer that came with the phone and it can't understand a work I say even when I'm holding it right next to me. It's driving me nuts. Are there any apps that will make my bluetooth call Bob when I tap it?

However, this is the frist phone I have had where the voice recognition actually works. Google voice search is incredible. The wierd thing is though, my voice dialer doesnt work AT ALL. I thought it was maybe becuase I was running ATM, but I stopped like 2 weeks ago and it still isn't working. I mean it wont recognize anything- not even redial or open calendar.

When you first make a call with GV selected it pulls up the GV dialer google_voice_android_1.jpg.Then it switches the the Eris dialer.Does anyone know if/how the GV dialer could be used instead of the Eris'?I really like the look of the GV dialer much better than that of the Eris.

At this point I feel like an idiot not being able to find it. I know that it's usually just a microphone on the keyboard, but there is definitely no mic icon for me. Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone been able to use voice-to-text on their newly updated Droid Eris?

My only problem, is that when i get SMS, the phone isn't lighting up like normal. In settings, i have it set to blink status light when a text comes in but it's not working. Vibration works and it makes a dinging noise but no light. Anyone else have this problem?
The Google Voice webapp for the iPhone looks pretty good from the screen shots I've seen. I guess that's one way to get apps on the iPhone without approval. I'm just wondering why my Google Voice doesn't look as polished on my Android based Droid Eris. Will they be retooling the GV app for our phones?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure when this started happening, but it hasn't always been like this. when I press the search button and use the voice option, or if I use my voice search widget and say anything without specifying a location (e.g. "Pizza") , the results are displayed for New York City. I live in Pittsburgh, PA. If I click the "Enter Location" drop down in the google search results and force it to "Use Current Location", nothing happens. It used to know where I was and bring local results if I didn't say a location. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
