View 5 RepliesSo I have the Droid X but I noticed that the Droid 2 now has a themed version of Swype to fit in with the rest of the UI. I like it a lot.
My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
why are my google voice text going against my regular text charges !
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was looking if anyone could get me the stock keyboard with the upgrade voice to text mine has mysteriously vanished im running cyanogen mod 5.05
View 1 Replies View RelatedNo root required, works fantastic.
-Download and install hi-res version.
-Goto keyboard settings and enable HTC_IME.
-Long press on any text entry, select imput method and then select HTC_IME as default.
Trying out better keyboard,, been wanting good text input like what comes with 2.1 for a while, the accuracy of the voice input is decent from what i can tell, but when im done recording the text doesnt go into the text field, instead i have to click the text box again and it comes up as a suggestion, is this right..is this how the app is designed..also any other suggestions for 2.1 quality voice input for texting without rooting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was about to come on here and praise how cool the new Voice to Text feature is in the new 2.1 update but I have found it to be a pain in the neck. I was driving the other day and decided to use it. I spoke very slowly and enunciated the words clearly and that thing wrote something entirely different. No offense but I sounded like a slow person the way I was talking and it still typed the wrong thing!
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter some hours of being on/being used/whatever, my Droid X occasionally freezes when I press the voice-to-text button on the Swype keyboard, as well as the same button on the search widget (basically anything that uses the voice-to-text service). The rotating symbol is shown on the screen, but it's frozen, and so is the rest of my phone unless I hit home. I don't have a task manager running, and restarting the phone allows me to use voice-to-text again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem with voice to text: when I click on the microphone icon on the Swype keyboard, the phone locks up with the rotating graphic frozen in the center. The keyboard also becomes unresponsive and I can only press the Home key to return to the Home screen. I switched back to the multi-touch keyboard and the voice to text worked just fine. Does anybody have the same problem or have any tips for fixing this? I really prefer the Swype keyboard but will have to stop using it if the voice part doesn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using google voice to get visual voice mail, however it is using up my limited text messages. Is there a way I can avoid the visual voice mail from going to text and access them directly through my gmail?.As well as, my voice to text on google voice is usually unreadable is this normal?.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Droid 2 running 2.3 and a Bluetooth headset (Samsung HM3500). Speech-to-text (of the sort activated by pushing the microphone button in any text-input field) does not work through the Bluetooth headset.
Oddly, after initially booting up the phone, it works through the built-in microphone. I then activate and pair my headset. Voice recognition doesn't work through the headset (or through the built-in mic). I then disable Bluetooth, turn off the headset. Voice recognition continues not to work!
I know the headset works. And when I press the headset button, it enters "voice command" mode where it asks me to "say a command." This mode works over the Bluetooth headset! Also, I tested this behavior in the Voice Recognizer of ApiDemos, and its also broken in the way described above.
So the 2.1 keyboard speech to text feature has proven itself nearly flawless for me and as such, I'd really like to use it to write much longer things like entire emails, but I'd like to know if there's a way to add punctuation and start a new sentence.
View 4 Replies View Relatedis there a way to set this up? when I choose to send a txt it asks me gv or handcent if I choose handcent I think the txt is through my mobile number, right? if they dont work together what is the best way to text without using the gv app?

View 14 Replies View RelatedYou want predictive text wth physical keyboard here is how you do it.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI think theres an app floating around to measure text speed somewhere. IF not tell me how fast you text with it. My friend hates it so he uses swype (which i can't use worth crap) I text really slow on it, so i got an n1. Verizon plans are just too expensive for me anyway.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen Trying to use voice to text, for an e-mail, text, pretty much anything i get a "connection problem"
Anyone know of any apps that disable this feature? or just a setting in general that i am missing?
I use the hardware keyboard exclusively, but am wanting to use the software keyboard more, figuring that my next phone may only have that. My real problem is figuring out how to move the cursor around in the text. If I want to go back and edit using the hardware keyboard, I just use the d-pad to move back to the spot I need. How do I do that with the software keyboard? Am I forced to tap the screen (which never chooses where I want it, and I have to key pecking at it to get it in the right place)?
View 14 Replies View RelatedSorry for the newb question. Of course you can tap in the right spot, but that is not very accurate. The d-pad on the hard keyboard works of course, but what about on the soft keyboard?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there an app out there that will allow you to modify the vertical keyboard to text using the normal T9 mode for texting?
Note: I did search before posting and came up empty handed so dont bash me if this has been asked before.
I tried it and it works so far.
Dev = ne0fhyk from XDA.
From the XDA forum: Link to app page = [APP][ROOT/Keyboard] Keyboard Manager - Dual keyboard: Portrait/landscape switch - xda-developers
Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'
Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon
-' start on boot' feature is disabled because it's not yet complete and tested... Sorry for the confusion
Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.
The app is still in development.
Can we download the HTC Keyboard apk file from Here ? I would really like to try voice input to text and email. Swype is great, but would like to have the option. I am using the leaked 2.1 OS as well. Has anybody tried this install from XDA forums? I want to make sure I don't ruin my phone if I do.
View 30 Replies View RelatedI am so bummed out about this. I tried powering off the phone and then turning it back on which didn't make a difference. The screen stayed completely black when I took it off my ear when I was supposed to put my password in to get my VM. I had to wait for the call to end before I could operate any buttons at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes the new 2.1 OTA for the eris include voice-to-text feature for the keyboard entry? I don't see it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDont get me wrong, the QWERTY keyboard is sick, and I love it. But after typing on the keyboard for while, I wanted to switch it up, so I tried the on screen key pad. And to my surprise, the on screen keyboard appears to be much quicker than using the QWERTY!
View 15 Replies View RelatedI just got the official OTA update to 2.1 and I've had a lot of fun playing with it, but one thing I was really looking forward to was the "New support for Voice-to-Text entry" that Verizon claimed on it's official Droid Eris Update Features List: http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/eris.pdf
At this point I feel like an idiot not being able to find it. I know that it's usually just a microphone on the keyboard, but there is definitely no mic icon for me. Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone been able to use voice-to-text on their newly updated Droid Eris?
I would honestly love to find out that I'm just being stupid and the answer is right in front of me... but the more I look, the more discouraged I get.
