I am using handbrake to put some movie trailers on my Eris does anyone know what the proper video resolution setting shoud be? I know the screen is 320x480 but I couldn't find the correct settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.

The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?
I have an application that uses OpenGL on a GLSurfaceView. The problem is that the initial load takes quite a while processing textures and getting things ready.
What i want to do is have a simple PNG displayed (with a slight animation) while the GLSurfaceView is getting ready. As soon as it's ready to render, i would like to tear down the splash screen.
What is the right way to do this? I've tried ViewFlipper, ViewSwitcher and a bunch of other things to switch between my R.layout.main view and my GLSurfaceView but i can't seem to get it right.
I went to verizon to deal with my silent issue. The option was to get a new or refurb phone, that doesnt have the OTA 2.1 update. Well, what is the point, if once I get the update, I have the same issues again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes everyone keep their screen brightness on auto or do you set it manually. I notice when it's on auto, sometimes the screen doesn't light up all the way. Will setting it manually drain the battery quicker? I notice in my battery usage that it says display is at like 74%. Not sure if that's normal or not. I have the brightness set at about 1/4 of the way up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am a new android user, and got my Droid 2 the morning they came out at the Verizon store. Now the guy that was helping me at the store told me that the battery life would be bad because of the high resolution screen but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I have been having really bad battery issues and I don't even use it constantly. I have it on around 20% brightness during the day, and I really only send text messages, and some web browsing but not a huge amount. My battery will be drained after 6 hours or so, and will need a charge again. When checking on battery manager it does say that most of my energy is going to my screen, but like I said I don't even have it close to the full brightness. I have been using an app killer program to try to maintain that also, but I did read somewhere that it can actually hurt your battery more, from closing and opening apps. Just wanted to hear some feedback from other users since we a couple days after launch. Everything else has been great with this phone, and I am REALLY enjoying the android OS after switching from a Blackberry.

Most of my contact photos come from Facebook, but some I will edit on my PC and load onto the phone's SD card. I know there are issues with decent photos becoming low-res pixelated, so I'm wondering if I start with the best size and/or aspect ratio, maybe the phone won't have to resample the photos itself.

What is the proper way of sizing the dimensions of an image in a hdpi screen vs a ldpi screen.
For instance, an 89*80 png displays fine, with the text, on my droid 2....but how should I go about resizing the image to be smaller on a smaller screened droid? Do I manually alter the image and place it in the ldpi folder or will it do that automatically?

However, I typically have it set at the lowest brightness to conserve battery. On my old Windows phone I was able to have the brightness adjust to full when it was plugged in. View 2 Replies View RelatedBack when I got my phone, I transfered an MP3 from the computer to the SD card and selected it as ringtone. it is still there and still works.....but now, after the OTA update, when I go into settings/phone ringtone this sound is not on the list. How do I get it back?
Also, under notifications, in the list of sounds the ones on my SD card are not there. I have a sound stored on the card that I would like to set as the notification. I mounted the card to my computer to verify that these files are indeed on the SD card. The phone just isn't seeing them in the list of available sounds...but, they do play if I go into MP3 or Music app.
Is there a button/setting to get you back to your homepage? Other than creating a bookmark for it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFYI, the slot cycle defines how often the device wakes up and checks the CDMA network for messages, incoming calls, etc. This does not effect the throughput of a data connection. It will only improve responsiveness for catching incoming calls and messages from the network.Each increment in settings doubles or haves the interval time. Slot cycle 0 wakes the device to check the paging channel every 1.28s. 1 is every 2.56, 2 is 5.12s, etc.Only thing you are doing is using more battery.any other observations are a placebo.
