View 3 RepliesIs there any way to play Streaming radio stations other than apps built for specific services (like Pandora/last.fm/slacker/imeem).To clarify, I mean online radio stations, that use .pls files to play streams. Some also have plugin players, but since Flash isn't on the Droid yet I'm not too worried about them. But it seems like it ought to be possible to play streaming .pls files.I tried to download one and it said it couldn't be downloaded because the size could not be determined.

We have a soundboard and speaker system. I would like to hook up a small PC (running either windows or Linux) to the soundboard so that whatever is playing from the computer will come through the speakers. And to control what gets played from the computer, I would like to use my Android phone.
I would consider streaming from my phone if it was reliable enough. I had first looked into streaming to the system via bluetooth - but that wasn't quite stable enough and dropped out too many times.
So my Eris no matter what player I use will eventually start skipping. It'll also start playing a song skip to another , then another then back to the original and then call my voicemail. Other times when I dont even have a music app open and try to send a text it'll start playing a song. Anyone have any clue what is going on?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering how these apps work. I was looking into Pandora. Seems pretty cool but then I saw that in order for these "streaming" apps to work, you're basically paying for internet time the whole time you're listening to the music, right? If this is the case, why use this type of app vs. simply downloading the music files to the phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am really happy with my Droid Eris, but there is one exception. I listen to Pandora on my phone almost daily at work. I have a radio that has an audio input so I connect my phone and play it through the radio. The problem is when someone calls me. I usually don't answer and call them right back from the work line, but sometimes, like today, I get frustrated and I want to answer the cell. First, if I don't disconnect the headphone jack the person calling cannot hear me. Second, if I disconnect it and take the call as soon as the call disconnects the music starts and it is usually blaring! This happened today and I was so embarrassed when the song 'Broken Wings' by Mr. Mister went blaring and about 30 people could hear it and the phone was not responding to turn it off! I really hope someone can help me with this issue.

For instance, if using Pandora or Slacker radio and I have my computer headset on, I would like to listen to the music that is playing on my phone, on my computer. My media player of choice is Winamp.

Do all the earpieces support streaming or playing music/sprint tv audio/Google listen? Are they all mono or do some single earpieces have stereo? Is there an industry standard for noise reduction that I should look for in the feature list? Any other tips if I just want to buy one and be satisfied its the right one?
I don't have time to dig in right now, and will this weekend if I need to but, is there an app out that will stream the following two URLs:

I am currently having some problems controlling the audio on my phone via bluetooth in my car.
When I press the button for the next track on Pandora, that would automatically activate the Android Music Player and play whatever I have stored on the SD card. Ultimately, what I have is 2 sources of music playing at the same time.
Only way to fix it is to get rid of the SD card. OR I can switch tracks using the phone itself.
I realize that this problem isn't limited to the Droid X. I've read about this happening on the Incredible as well.
Anyone know whether a patch (or Froyo can fix this)?
I have the car dock and love how the charging cable plugs into the dock so your not always plugging and unplugging it into the phone itself. You can just set it in the dock and go. Now the perfect scenario to me would be to be able to stream Slacker or MOG music from the X to the car stereo using Bluetooth. I currently have factory Bluetooth in the car, but is only for calls. I would like to get a new stereo with Bluetooth that would allow me to stream music to it in addition to using the X for Navigation. What I would like to know is how the sound quality will be? Is there anyone here currently doing this that can comment on the sound quality and let me know what deck you are using? I am REALLY hoping for success here so I can just drop the X into the car dock and go, without messing with any cables and still have very good sound quality.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have wanted to be able to stream music via bluetooth from the droid to an audio receiver... can't think of a solution. Right now I use the application streamfurious to stream internet radio from shoutcast.com's website, an excellent source of thousands of radio links, to the droid. Now it would be sweet to be able to relay this again to another audio device. I have an auxiliary 3.5mm jack on my head unit in my car and I was wondering if anyone knew of any other device to convert that so it could stream through bluetooth. Theoretically I could just plug that into the phone but I hate wires. One other question... I know they say the data plan is unlimited but streaming music 24/7 would have a ridiculous amount of data usage. I think the cap is 5gb is this true??
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of the features touted for Froyo was the ability to stream your desktop library to your phone. I can't find any mention of it apart from those early announcements and feature lists.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I want to stream one particular song I noticed that the Google Play Music app downloads and caches the previous/next few songs for quicker access. How can I prevent this? It uses a lot of data and I usually only want to listen to the one song I chose to stream.
For example if I play a 6 mb song i noticed it uses about 40 mb to stream just that one song. Then I selected a different song to stream and immediately went into settings > download queue and noticed it was loading more songs than the one I requested. I only want to listen to the 1 song I chose, so how can I prevent the other songs from loading? As far as I can see there is no way in the app's settings but there has to be another way to stop this inconvenience.
P.S. I have a T999 galaxy s3 running on stock rooted ICS
When I am listening to the music app, or btunes, or mix zing; about one in four times I turn the screen off, the music stops playing. I've tried turning of my task killer, but to no avail. At first, I had a second issue as well: the music would play for only about 15 mins then stop, however, I managed to figure out that that was the 'Data-Off' timer I had set for the battery's 'Smart Mode' (though I'm not sure what data has to do with playing music stored locally). Nevertheless, swapping to 'Performance Mode' solved that. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out why a quarter of the time I turn the screen off, it kills the music.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm the proud owner of a month old Droid 2, but the damn thing keeps freezing or locks up completely when I play my music on it - sometimes it even restarts on its own. It doesn't matter if I'm playing my own MP3's or Pandora. While at work this happens maybe 3 to 5 times a day (docked to a desk/home charger from Verizon) and it's really frustrating. I noticed this started happening once my phone updated to 2.2.20 a few weeks ago. Just this past weekend I took it to my local Verizon dealer. They said they updated the PRL and this often corrects the problem. I got the phone home and it locked up immediately. I've restarted repeatedly, removed the SD card and battery but still no change. Any suggestions? This will be my fourth replacement if I need to take it back and have it replaced.

View 1 Replies View Relatedfirst the M4A file issues: Since i have been upgraded to 2.2, I can no longer play m4a files NOR files imported into iTunes from my own cd and then put on my phone. I get an error saying, this file type is not supported. Obviously the error is self describing by why did Android stop supporting these file. What am I supposed to do now? if these files are DRM free why would Android have a problem playing them. do they want to push their own music service. If so, thats fine, but thats not even out yet. Most of my searches on this topic come up unanswered. ALSO, when I go to play a song in mSpot, it starts to download and then it says "There was an error during song playback" I can play the song on the mspot website, but not through the app. Anyone else a little peeved by this update for these reasons?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am maintaining a streaming music player, and I'm running into a similar problem as http://www.last.fm/group/Last.fm+Android/forum/114391/_/593575
My player stop after roughly 1-2 minutes, and there are no log messages except for "I/AudioHardwareQSD( 52): AudioHardware pcm playback is going to standby" just after the playback stops.
This happens when I run it on the Nexus One over 3G. It does not happen over Wifi, and it does not happen on my HTC Hero with android 1.5 over 3G.
Do you guys have any hints on how to debug this? Is it e.g. possible to monitor the memory available to the media player object?
I have two simple programmes, server and client, both at localhost. What I want to do is to streaming the video from the server to the client through socket and the client can play it by using filediscriptor of the socket. First I try to send some message and the client can receive it. After that I send a few bytes of the video from the server'sd card to the client. The client can receive those bytes but cannot play it. Anyone know how to solve the problem?
