Is there any way to play Streaming radio stations other than apps built for specific services (like Pandora/last.fm/slacker/imeem).To clarify, I mean online radio stations, that use .pls files to play streams. Some also have plugin players, but since Flash isn't on the Droid yet I'm not too worried about them. But it seems like it ought to be possible to play streaming .pls files.I tried to download one and it said it couldn't be downloaded because the size could not be determined.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently having some problems controlling the audio on my phone via bluetooth in my car.
When I press the button for the next track on Pandora, that would automatically activate the Android Music Player and play whatever I have stored on the SD card. Ultimately, what I have is 2 sources of music playing at the same time.
Only way to fix it is to get rid of the SD card. OR I can switch tracks using the phone itself.
I realize that this problem isn't limited to the Droid X. I've read about this happening on the Incredible as well.
Anyone know whether a patch (or Froyo can fix this)?
I was looking forward to the hdmi out to hook up to my tv but now I see this device is DLNA capable. I also see my tv Panasonic Viera Plasma V10 has this option as well. Can anyone explain how this works and how I can set this up? I'm hoping you guys have experience with DLNA. For some reason I thought DLNA was only available to Samsung TVs.

As of right now, I have no idea how to view my phones files using DLNA? Do I need a program? When I select share media, it connects and then nothing happens.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem in playing video file in android using VideoView. When I keep the .3gp video file locally in res/raw folder, the video file plays successfully. But when I keep this same file on live web server and stream it, it runs on Android G1, Nexus one and Tatoo which I have for testing. But It fails to stream and play on Motorola milestone. I got the error on device as: 'This video is not valid for streaming'. What problem it should be, I am really seek of finding it. Is it the issue of programming or file format?

Within Windows Media Player 12 (Win 7 x64), I have checked "Stream > Automatically allow devices to play my media" Unfortunately, when I open up Media Share on the Droid X, and continue to the music folder, it doesn't show anything - instead it lists "no files found" Open Media Share -> Computer -> Play -> Next -> Next (DLNA) -> Next (allow remote playback stuff) -> Next (confirming we're connected to the same network) -> Then I go tot he All Music folder, and the Droid X says "No files to display"
View 8 Replies View RelatedI noticed that you can't adjust media volume without first playing media. Like you have to, for example, press the play button before pressing rocker volume in order to adjust media volume or else you'll just be adjusting ringer volume. This is unfortunate since games also use media volume. So if you wonna start up a quick game in a quiet setting, your in trouble if you were listening music before and never turned down/off the media volume. Unless I'm missing something and there is in fact a way to do it?

View 3 Replies View Relatedso I went to sync my movies using the V Cast Media manager and it told me I could not copy my "digital copy" movies to the phone. Does anyone know how to get them to the phone to play? I can move them over using simple file manager (not the V Cast Media manager), however they still will not play. Anyone else able to get this to work? These are my ligit digital copys of the movie, so I don't know why it will not work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some pretty simple Soundboard applications on the Android Market that work flawless on an LG Ally, the Motorola Droid, and the Nexus One, but I recently received an e-mail from a user with the Motorola DroidX claiming that most of the sounds do not work. I've exchanged a few e-mails with him. He claims the Soundboard is the only application running, and he's double checked to make sure that the Media Volume wasn't set to minimum. I really don't have access to one either to play around with. The application isn't doing anything cosmic to play the sounds. Below is a code snippet. Might be a daft question but is there any app I could download that will assist me with this. On my onld phone (Windows Mobile based) I could listen to certain sports commentaries via the internet stream. (I think they are .wma files). Is there any app that will allow me to play these or is it beyond android to play windows media format at the moment. for information the Hero tries to play but returns a content not supported' type error

My player stop after roughly 1-2 minutes, and there are no log messages except for "I/AudioHardwareQSD( 52): AudioHardware pcm playback is going to standby" just after the playback stops.
This happens when I run it on the Nexus One over 3G. It does not happen over Wifi, and it does not happen on my HTC Hero with android 1.5 over 3G.
Do you guys have any hints on how to debug this? Is it e.g. possible to monitor the memory available to the media player object?
I have two simple programmes, server and client, both at localhost. What I want to do is to streaming the video from the server to the client through socket and the client can play it by using filediscriptor of the socket. First I try to send some message and the client can receive it. After that I send a few bytes of the video from the server'sd card to the client. The client can receive those bytes but cannot play it. Anyone know how to solve the problem?

I'm trying to figure how to listen to some streaming media on my Droid with 2.01 Firmware. I've tried the following files and default media player won't recognize them. I tried downloading a couple of apps from the app market, but they didn't seem to associate themselves with these files.

I've been looking around for a solution to this - and so far have only found Gmote to be close to what I'm looking for. Actually Gmote hits it on the head, but I wanted to see if there were other options. Here's the setup:
We have a soundboard and speaker system. I would like to hook up a small PC (running either windows or Linux) to the soundboard so that whatever is playing from the computer will come through the speakers. And to control what gets played from the computer, I would like to use my Android phone.
I would consider streaming from my phone if it was reliable enough. I had first looked into streaming to the system via bluetooth - but that wasn't quite stable enough and dropped out too many times.
I had an Ipod touch and just sold it because I got an Eris. I really like the phone but the media player is lame compared to ipods. I listen to downloaded radio talk shows and if I stop and listen to another song, it doesn't save my place. Not horrible in a talk show but in an audiobook, it really sucks. I don't want an iphone if it comes to verizon but I also don't want to have to keep track of two devices. Does anyone know if there is a bookmark capable app for media playing or will there be in the future? Thanks. I did search and didn't find anything on this, so if I missed it somewhere, sorry.

I've got my HTC Desire and i got to listen to my favorite radio station. To do that i got to have an media player that can use url's like win amp or windows media player from windows for example. I've tried most of the e-radio software like tune wiki last. FM etc but it does not help.

I know there is a player on it from HTC called "Streaming Media Player" but it doesn't seem to be the default and I would like it to be. When I am using the Engadget app, and the article has a button to click for a video they have created, my phone seems to use the You Tube player and on occasion it just errors, but if I go to the actual article on the engadget web site and click the video, it opens in the HTC player and works fine. I don't get an option to choose which player I want to use when I click on videos, can I change any of this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted Nexus 7 on 4.2.1 and (I think it happened since the last update to 4.2.1) have a total impossibility of playing ANY media files over my local network... Whether it's a movie or even an MP3, every single one of my players tell me "sorry this video cannot be played". I can see the file on EF explorer (tried also with a bunch of other explorers, same problem), I can copy it onto my tablet over wifi, but impossible to play the damn file directly like I used to 2 or 3 weeks ago...
I bought a Kobo Arc for my girlfriend (on ICS) and it has no problem streaming anything instantly, even 720p 6gb movies... but when I get my Nexus 7 , nope can't do it anymore
I've tried tons of players (MX, BS, Dice, VLC...etc), tons of files explorers, looked through the file explorers settings...etc etc, but nothing that could get me my media streaming over wifi again...
It's not a huge issue or anything, but it's rather annoying to have to transfer every single media file on the tablet before actually being able to watch/listen to it..
