Has anyone else noticed their Eris display SUCKS when outside in the sunlight? I can't see anything on the screen when I'm outside! I don't have the brightness all the way up to save on battery life, and I don't have a screen protector on. With spring/summer coming up soon, anyone else find this as annoying as I do?! Would a screen protector help that issue?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been enjoying my phone so far but now its running kinda slow in the message department, so I figured I'd clear out all my messages, all 3000+ plus. Android just doesn't want to delete them, I've heard that it can take 5+ minutes to delete message threads 500+, I'm screwed because one of my threads has over 2000! This phone should be storing older txt messages to the sdcard anyway, not sure why it wouldn't. Basically this thread was made to complain how crappy clearing out messages was.

On a daily basis I will toggle between 4 different home screens, 3 different music players, 4 different internet browsers various wallpapers, various weather widgets. I'm sure if I was able to settle one having the same layout on a daily basis I wouldn't be charging my phone 2 times a day.

I have the Motorola Droid and my roommate just bought the HTC Droid Eris. He has 1000+ contacts in his Google Account and only wants to display ones with phone numbers. The MOTO Droid does this easily - Dialer > Contacts > Menu >Display Options > "Only display contacts with phone numbers" I'm baffled - the Droid Eris doesn't have this option? Is this an HTC Sense thing or an Android 1.5 thing? And, have any Droid Eris owners found this annoying and found a work around?

View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen talking on the speaker phone, the display shuts off after a few seconds during the conversation. I used to be able to press the volume toggle and the screen would turn back on in case I needed to put in numbers or something. But with Kaos v37 the screen will only turn back on if I hit the end button, which of course then hangs up the call. Anybody else having this issue?

It doesn't always update and/or my post's won't go through. Also it doesn't show birthdays, which is annoying. Can you get the full site or is there a better FB app out there?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI finally bought the Motorola car dock and car charger for when I'm traveling this thanksgiving. The only problem is that the "Car Home" app sucks big time. I can't change the navigation app to Aura, I can't change the music player, I can't move or change the default apps on the home screen, and I can't even change the wallpaper. Sucks Big Time. Is there a better app for when the phone is docked in the car?? All I want to do is change the default GPS app, add and remove apps, move icons, and change the wallpaper....lol, is that to much to ask? I don't know if it matters but I'm running ApeX V1.0, NexTheme, and LaucherPro Plus. Please say there is a better alternative.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had previously reported to a user and a friend that I could not see my Incredible in the sunlight - was a bit embarrassing considering how it was 'new technology'. It turns out that I had my Brightness at 25% to conserve battery. I could not see a hint of my screen let alone someone calling when it was sunny out. I didn't even have to be in the direct sunlight.
I decided to turn my brightness up to 100% (and on automatic), and I could see everything even when it was really sunny out! After a few days of being grumpy about not being able to see my screen in the sun - I am now very relieved that I can see my Incredible in the sun. So morale of the story, if you live in a sunny state, change your brightness to high or automatic - it is WELL worth the battery sacrifice if you are outdoors a lot and need to see your screen. I've also noticed the High setting also decreases glare from indoor lights.
I'm thinking about this phone for my wife...but she's read some iffy comments on amoled screens being hard to read in bright sunlight. How has it been for you? Difficult to use outside or not?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I wrote a thread earlier that flash 10.1 sucks with little to no internet sucks. Which is normal but with wifi turned on at home, I couldn't watch my anime on my phone. Which was really disappointing. Are you guys having problems with the flash player or is it just me? Video was choppy or took forever to load. Plays a few seconds then loads again. So I couldn't get halfway through the episode.

I can turn it back to portrait and it immediately re-appears. This only happens when I pick it up - It can be laying in the seat in LS mode and be perfectly visible, as soon as I pick it up, it goes dark. If this is a feature, what is the benefit?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe gap between the screen and housing, particularly at the bottom, seems to be pretty wide on my phone. i notice at night that light shines through that gap. Can't tell if the gap has gotten any wider. Just wondering if anyone else notices something similar. Seems like a great place for dust to enter the screen. Especially if light can come through there. Doesn't mean it's not sealed, but obviously it's not a super tight fit.

I've been using mine outdoors for running. That includes controlling the media player, switching to email to link to the map my running team emailed to us, and then referencing the map when so I knew where to turn. I'm not reading War and Peace with the reflection of the sun glaring off the screen, but all in all, I've found it pretty easy to use outdoors. What are your thoughts on real world outdoor SAMOLED usability?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire (that is a Droid Incredible to Verizon people in the US). I like the 3.7" 480x800 AMOLED screen but it is too reflective and difficult to read under bright sunlight. Also the pentile pixel arrangement means that very small text is a bit blurry.
My Dad has the Samsung Galaxy S which has a 4" 480x800 Super AMOLED screen. It is very beautiful, very bright, not too reflective.
As far as Android phones go the following have the best screen:
HTC EVO - 4.3" 480x800 TFT (stolen from the HTC HD2).
Sony Experia 10 - 4.0" 480x800 TFT
Samsung Galaxy S - 4.0" 480x800 Super AMOLED
Nexus One/HTC Desire/HTC Droid Incredible - 3.7" 480x800 AMOLED. Anyone my question is what is the perfect screen for an android touchscreen phone?
1. What size?
2. What resolution?
3. What technology, TFT, Super AMOLED etc?
4. As for those who care capacitive or resistive? I expect 80% or 90% want capacitive. As people know the iphone 4 has a res of 640x960 but they have crippled the size at 3.5" (as a tactic to get people to also buy an ipad no doubt). I used to own a Nokia internet tablet 770. It had a 4.1" 480x800 resistive screen. The same with the Toshiba TG01. I think 4.1" is the perfect size. Something like 600x900 resolution. And either a TFT IPS or a RGB Super AMOLED capacitive.
I manually updated the phone with the file that was posted here as the leaked update. The process was easy and pretty much headache free. I used the trial version of MyBackup app and it did what its supposed to do. However I am facing some problems and have some questions also.
1. It seems that my display is not working correctly now. Maybe it is just me, but i can tell that that the backlight is not as responsive as it should be. It doesnt go to the set brightness level as fast and smooth as it was.
2. I let MyBackup restore the apps also and it was a mistake in my opinion. It erased the apps in "My downloads". Now not only can't I find a certain app (USA Today seems to disappear...and no, not the USA Today widget one. that one sucks. Anyone knows what happened to it?) I also dont know how to uninstall an app if it is not in my downloads. I suppose in manage applications? Correct me if I am wrong.
3. For me YouTube app started working better, but still says it cant play video in High Quality mode.
4. Anyone using something different from the People app?
5. Could not find a post about how to erase the vocabulary you added. I spelled something wrong and need to get rid of it.
6. The email is set to update once i day..still i get the notification as soon as I receive one. Help?
Overall, there is a little speed improvement. I didnt notice any drastic improvement, but its just quicker a bit. However, Id rather have my display back to working the way its supposed to be. I can wait until the OTA officially comes out.
I'm having a problem with my Driod Eris. It's moving on its own, if I unlock the screen it starts to move to the left and stays there. I try to scroll over it moves back I press the home button and it does the same thing. I've tried powering down taking the battery put nothing seem to work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWell, I've been noticing a few more problems with my eris as of late (if you want to know the others look at my post history)I've been unable to get past the lock screen to display sometimes. I just got off the phone with a friend, it was a long call as the phone/battery had heated up a bit. Now, everything with the phone seemed to be okay, I went and pulled up the HTC battery widget and was around 34C. I've seen it get this high before and had no problems. Now, I locked the phone and a few minutes later I tried to unlock it. The unlock screen would display but the touch screen wouldn't not receive any of my input. The Menu button did not work either. I could push the end button time and again and the display wound turn on and off, but no touch input ever worked. I just had to do a battery pull to get into my phone.
I've also been noticing inside TaskPanel that the amount of available memory steadily declines even if no programs are running. I have mostly sense programs ignored and I've included timerriffic and beautiful widgets as they are always running and need to be so they will function. (beautiful widgets I just purchased yesterday and I've had this problem for a week or two) If I do successfully get past the lock screen the phone will be extremely slow and TaskPanel will report something like 20 megs of available memory, with no applications running. If I restart the phone I'm usually fine. I think it is happening around the 13-14 hour mark of my phone being turned on.
I'm assuming something is hogging up my phone and I just can't tell what it is. I don't have very many 3rd party applications installed. They are closed immediately after I'm done with them except for beautiful widgets and timerriffic. I've had timerrific since the 2nd day I've owned my Eris and it's never been a problem (not to say an update didn't hose it)Anyone have similar problems? Anyone think of anything that could be causing this? [side note: I did notice a few weeks back my exchange calendar was freaking out and draining my battery, but deleting and resetting up my exchange email fixed that and it doesn't seem to be a problem now]
you would think that google would have had an amazing gmail app on their android os. Gmail app isn't even as good as their web version! Long emails have sections truncated with... at the end and I can't see attachment pictures even after clicking show pictures

I have almost 400 pics all listed under Camera shots and, of course, anytime I am looking for 1 specific pic, I have to filter through them all. I have tried everything that I know of on my phone outside of just purging pics. If I create separate folders on my SD card, will it display that way in the album?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am just looking for opinions, which phone do you think has the better screen (display), the nexus one or the Droid? I guess 2 things to consider are
1. The Droid is 480 x 854 while the nexus one is only 480 x 800 and
2. The nexus one has an AMOLED display.
Now I am not the most tech savvy person so I am not 100% sure what these mean lol all I know is that from what ive heard, #1 goes to the Droid and #2 goes to the nexus. So idk, is it really just a matter of opinion? I own a nexus one and it has a great screen but from what I've seen from the Droid, the droids screen looked a tad better. However that could be due to my limited experience and if I had the Droid for a while, my opinion might change.
You can probably tell by my thread title I am very new to rooting and I think I am very close.
At this point I have downloaded the required motorola driver, sbf file, and have rsd 4.6 on my computer. The issue is rsd does not display my phone. On an earlier version of rsd it did display my phone but I was getting an error so I downloaded 4.6 but now it does not.
What's the easiest way to display an active (initiating a call on click) phone number in an Android app?
It would have been great if there was a View subclass, called something like PhoneNumberView, that has all the functionality and UI integrated.
