I just switched over to handcent as my messaging app. I changed the defaults and switched off the notifications function on original app. Here's my question... just switching off the notifications from old app, messages still come thru to old app...does that take up some form of memory? If so, how do I turn off un-wanted app so messages do not go to it anymore? Any hints, info or thoughts on this matter is greatly appreciated.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure when this started happening, but it hasn't always been like this. when I press the search button and use the voice option, or if I use my voice search widget and say anything without specifying a location (e.g. "Pizza") , the results are displayed for New York City. I live in Pittsburgh, PA. If I click the "Enter Location" drop down in the google search results and force it to "Use Current Location", nothing happens. It used to know where I was and bring local results if I didn't say a location. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since the 2.1 OTA upgrade,when I open my web browser it defaults to an extremely tiny size.I'd describe it as fit-to-screen where the entire web page will be fit to the size of the phone screen, thus making the words unreadable.I have to use my fingers to expand it before I can read it.But before the upgrade, it would open by default to a size that was at least readable.How can I change the default size of the web page?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI received the latest update a couple of days ago. I am like many on the forum that was having issues and growing very tired of this phone.
Issues I was having:
1- Blank display during a call. I have been having the issue of the phone display going blank during a call. The way it's designed to work is that when you place the phone next to your ear the display turns off to 1- save battery and 2- reduce heat. Mine was staying off which made it impossible to traverse a voice response system.
2- Lag during dialing.
3- Time without a signal. ** Retracted - This issue still exists. After rebooting multiple times the issue is back.
Fix - Reset to factory defaults. So far so good. Best the phone has been since updating from 1.5.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is more of an annoyance, but whenever I reply to a message off the home screen widget, it automatically defaults to the home number for that contact, instead of replying to the same (cell) number that it was sent from. If I go into the messaging app, it works as it should (replies to the same number).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if 2.1 still had the following bugs/problems that myself, and a lot of people seem to encounter with 1.5, or if it's phone specific not OS specific.
1. Problems receiving picture messages. Specifically receiving a message saying "Message not downloaded. Retransmission scheduled for XX:XX", even if you click "Download" button multiple times.
2. When receiving a text message longer than 160 characters, you get a message saying "The preceding messages modified. Media objects removed." and the sender gets a message saying that you do not support enhanced messaging service, even though you DO actually receive the entire message. I know the Incredible doesn't have this problem, but the Eris does.
Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen i get an email (gmail) and I attempt to download the rest of the message, it gives me an error and tells me that there's not enough space and instructs me to delete messages. After deleting almost all messages, i still get the same error.
Do the messages get stored on my card or device? SHould i delete my podcasts that rest on my card?
I have a stumper, or not. Also, not really sure where to post this, so I'm throwing it in here. I recently started using google voice (today), and I want to use the app smspopup so I can view my sms messages without opening up the google voice app. Even though smspopup is supposed to work with google voice, it is not. I checked out the smspopup FAQ's, and it said to clear the defaults for the android messaging apps in the manage applications menu. I searched for it but it wasn't there, so I can't clear any defaults.
View 2 Replies View Relatedever since 2.1 I have noticed all outgoing calls turn on speakerphone by default - and in coming also trigger speakerphone. PITA to place calls, or get them, and always have to turn off speakerphone button. Anyone know why or how to stop it? I cannot say for sure it is 2.1 issue but that is newest change I recall.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, this is a minor but VERY annoying problem on my Eris. I have a notification that is ALWAYS SHOWING!! It is a little black and white envelope. It is labeled "New Message(s)". It has the subtext, "You have an unread message".If I slide my Notifications down, and click the notification, it brings me to the HTC Message list. All of my messages are marked as read, so I dont know why the icon is still there.If I get a text, a totally separate icon, which is also a black and white envelope, but has a green circle with a number inside it showing how many unread messages I have. If I bring the Notifications down, and click the problematic Notification, "the first one I mentioned", the second said icon will go away, and the original will NOT go away. I can click "Clear Notifications" and it will go away till I get a new message, and then the problem is back.

Example:
I txtd person#1. then person #2 txtd me. opening messages I replied to person #2. but it went to person #1. my only guess is it goes to whom ever created the thread. very bad app. still trying to figure this out?
Like how to reply to the correct person and whom its going to. in threads?
I use hand cent but have been hearing there is a.bug in it to keep hour phone awake.

But i seem to have done something when texting and now my text is in a transparent text box that appears and then disappears when pressing the home screen button. Since I no longer use ATK and been observing using System Panel; I notice that both are still running ACTIVE. Handscent has more CPU time then Message. More then half my txts come up as a quick text over the lock screen.Is that pulling from Handcent or Message?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I updated (finally!!) to 2.1 OTA on Saturday morning. Ever since then, my Handcent app has been acting strangely. Seems at least half of the txts I send generate an "Undelivered message" error, and there's that lil red 'x' next to the msg in the convo. Thing is, I've checked with friends, and the texts are in fact being sent just fine. Anyone else having this problem? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Handcent, to no avail. It's really annoying to have to delete the "undelivered messages" every time. Plus then I have no record on my phone of that sent txt.
