HTC Droid Eris :: Standard Weather Not Updating
Apr 8, 2010Recent quirk - my Eris all of a sudden insists that the sun is shining at 9:30 PM, and conversely that the moon is out at 8:00 AM (times approximate). I go into the main weather screen, it updates, looks fine, I go back to the home screen, still way off. Eventually it does "match" -right now, 1:50 PM, the Eris says "intermittent clouds" and looking out the window what bits of sky I can see are mostly cloudy. But it is a bit disconcerting to be sitting at the baseball game, pull out the Eris to check the time, and have a nice happy sun staring at me when it is way past sundown.

Sep 6, 2010I have instaled Handcent and gone into my standard message settings and turned off all ntifications and reports but when I check my app killer it shows it as still running all the time. Really annoying as it's extra drain on the battery.

May 13, 2010I was wondering if 2.1 still had the following bugs/problems that myself, and a lot of people seem to encounter with 1.5, or if it's phone specific not OS specific.
1. Problems receiving picture messages. Specifically receiving a message saying "Message not downloaded. Retransmission scheduled for XX:XX", even if you click "Download" button multiple times.
2. When receiving a text message longer than 160 characters, you get a message saying "The preceding messages modified. Media objects removed." and the sender gets a message saying that you do not support enhanced messaging service, even though you DO actually receive the entire message. I know the Incredible doesn't have this problem, but the Eris does.
HTC Droid Eris :: Show Message In Notification Bar But Text Of Message Will Not Appear In Text Thread
Jun 3, 2010Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

Jan 27, 2010When i get an email (gmail) and I attempt to download the rest of the message, it gives me an error and tells me that there's not enough space and instructs me to delete messages. After deleting almost all messages, i still get the same error.
Do the messages get stored on my card or device? SHould i delete my podcasts that rest on my card?

Oct 26, 2009so i made a wonderful discovery this weekend that my phone will take a charge from my CD deck in my car that has a USB jack. my concern is, that it may end up damaging the phone somehow and i was beyond paranoid. does anyone know if it is a safe thing to do? Jan 3, 2010So, this is a minor but VERY annoying problem on my Eris. I have a notification that is ALWAYS SHOWING!! It is a little black and white envelope. It is labeled "New Message(s)". It has the subtext, "You have an unread message".If I slide my Notifications down, and click the notification, it brings me to the HTC Message list. All of my messages are marked as read, so I dont know why the icon is still there.If I get a text, a totally separate icon, which is also a black and white envelope, but has a green circle with a number inside it showing how many unread messages I have. If I bring the Notifications down, and click the problematic Notification, "the first one I mentioned", the second said icon will go away, and the original will NOT go away. I can click "Clear Notifications" and it will go away till I get a new message, and then the problem is back.

Feb 10, 2010How the message threads work? I create a new message and it logs it in what ever thread was last. If I reply using messages sometimes it sends to wrong person.
Example:
I txtd person#1. then person #2 txtd me. opening messages I replied to person #2. but it went to person #1. my only guess is it goes to whom ever created the thread. very bad app. still trying to figure this out?
Like how to reply to the correct person and whom its going to. in threads?

May 14, 2010did the OTA upgrade and got everything setup.Sent a text out and received a "Message Sent" notification.Any ideas how to shut this off? Seems like it could get annoying real quick.

But i seem to have done something when texting and now my text is in a transparent text box that appears and then disappears when pressing the home screen button. Apr 10, 2010I have been using Handcent for just under a month. I like it very much. I have a question though. Since I no longer use ATK and been observing using System Panel; I notice that both are still running ACTIVE. Handscent has more CPU time then Message. More then half my txts come up as a quick text over the lock screen.Is that pulling from Handcent or Message?

Dec 21, 2009I just switched over to handcent as my messaging app. I changed the defaults and switched off the notifications function on original app. Here's my question... just switching off the notifications from old app, messages still come thru to old app...does that take up some form of memory? If so, how do I turn off un-wanted app so messages do not go to it anymore? Any hints, info or thoughts on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Mar 25, 2010I've tried searching up the forums and found that some people had this bug and it was fixed by doing the *228 option 2. I tried that and when I use Handcent it still says the message is not delivered and sometimes it just flat out sends a blank message.The text is going to an email not an actual phone number but I'd like to keep handcent because I really like the pop up and the GUI. Would anyone have any other tips or tricks to help me get rid of this annoying error?Well i guess I forgot to mention some things.I updated my phone to 2.1 last night with the "new" leak I guess you call it.I tried restarting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling handcent.

May 17, 2010So I updated (finally!!) to 2.1 OTA on Saturday morning. Ever since then, my Handcent app has been acting strangely. Seems at least half of the txts I send generate an "Undelivered message" error, and there's that lil red 'x' next to the msg in the convo. Thing is, I've checked with friends, and the texts are in fact being sent just fine. Anyone else having this problem? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Handcent, to no avail. It's really annoying to have to delete the "undelivered messages" every time. Plus then I have no record on my phone of that sent txt.

Jun 3, 2010I received a 'low memory' message last night and my first action was to dump some unneeded apps which seemed to relieve the problem, but I figure that it is just a matter of time until it comes back. I am not using the SD card for anything right now and was wondering if that could be a path to avoiding this in the future. If so, what can I move there and how do I do it? Can I run apps from the SD card? I have a couple of large 3rd party apps including Grocery iQ (9.25MB), Touchdown (7.98MB), Documents to Go (7.59MB) and Trapster (4.61MB) along with a bunch that are in the 3-4MB range.

Dec 17, 2009I use handscent for text messaging, like it a lot. I also like(ed) the htc message widget (gives you a stack of your most recent texts on your home screen). The only problem is that i can not figure out a way to have the widget take me into handcent (rather then the htc native messaging app) when i hit either the list or compose butttons at the bottom of the widget. Anyone have any ideas or will the widget just always connect with the htc app?
