My droid this weekend has randomly decided not to get data connection for hours at a time. I haven't been getting data for the last 2 hours or so tonight and I can get phone calls and my family's verizon phones all work. whats going on?

This happened yesterday before I charged the battery from the store so I accepted it, however, today not so much.
The battery seems to hold off fine, but then as soon as the battery hits about 35%, it goes into a free fall until finally - minutes later - the 5% warning pops up and all of the sudden the phone shuts off and has to be charged to above 10% before it will even turn on.
Has anyone noticed this on their new Droid X (After the primary charge)?
So my Droid has decided to randomly start silencing itself. I can't figure out why and when I called VZW they had me do a hard reset...this did not solve the problem. I have apps Audio Manager and Screen Lock...I'm not sure if either of those could be a problem. I also use beautiful widget toggles. I have looked at the settings and that doesn't seem to be the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have juicedefender and I enable that at work to shut off my data for 50 minutes out of every hour. I disable the app when I return home so I can always be receiving data.
With that said, I will be texting my girlfriend, shut my screen off and the notification sound does not ring when she sends me a text. The only reason I know she sends me a text is because I will go to Gv on my laptop and see she sent me a msg.
I looked into my battery mode settings and it is setup to shut off data after 15 minutes of inactivity during non peak hours (midnight to 8am) and set to 60 mins or never for peak hours, however my phone was never inactive for that time period.
My question is, what else could be shutting my data on/off if juicedefender is disabled and my battery profile is set up correctly ( i even changed it to performance and i didnt hear the notification, yes the notification vol. is up)
Well since I've got into installing custom ROMs its nice, but I hate wiping data/cache. I've gone from Nexbeast 1.1 to Nexfro .4 without a wipe. No complaints but when I drop my phone it immediately reboots. When I open it and click stuff to fast it will reboot and sometimes for no reason at all. Is this because of me not wiping data or just sucky phone? Using stock kernel. When going to CM6 should I wipe data?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a new Droid (new verizon customer) last Friday. Twice now I have lost 3G downsignal only (which effectively means no data connection). To be clear, I still have the 3G signal icon on my phone, and all my apps are uploading data (according to the icon) however no data is being sent back down. I've tried waiting 10 minutes and tried going in and out of airplane mode (3G icon does come back after leaving airplane mode) however I still don't have downstream connection, only upstream.
The only way I have fixed this is to reboot the phone, which sucks. Has anyone had this issue? I'm not sure i'll be able to get a replacement (even with insurance) unless I can reproduce it in front of Verizon reps, so I'm not sure what I should do about it.
Tipping I can stand all the pains of the Droid Eris, But the keyboard issue I've been having is on top of the list. The keyboard randomly stops working. I go to respond to a text, or search the Internet..And the keyboard shows the flashing line as if to type, But it wont type. I will randomly enter letters and the spell check box still pops up. I restart it, or remove the battery but once i turn it back on and try typing again and still same issue. Then 5 min later it works. Its random. Annoying. And Ideas what could cause it? or fix it?

View 13 Replies View RelatedWhen i'm connected to my router at home via wifi, the connection randomly drops from time to time. My laptop and TV is fine which are both running via the internet. The setting is set to stay connected always, even when the screen goes black.
Does anyone have a resolution for this? Perhaps static IP? if this is the answer, what should the settings be?
I don't know what I did, but it seems that my data synch is on non-stop. Maybe I never noticed before but in the notification bar, I see the recycle arrow icon just to the left of 3G and I can't seem to turn it off and my battery is running out faster than normal and the phone is very hot. I have used the Power Widget to power cycle (turn on/off) the data sync to no avail...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI notice this more when Handcent/Chomp are installed but even without it seems that sometimes my phone just stops replicating. TXTS not gotten, emails not coming in emails not being sent (this is when I really notice it) Power cycle the phone and presto everything is back to working.
Example, I just restarted my phone and the email that was hanging was sent the very second it started back up then 51 emails came into my inbox
Anyone else have these issues? If not I think I'm gonna have to call VZW about another phone coming my way.
I've recently been having an issue where my Mobile Data randomly does not work. When I go to settings, it is checked as enabled. I have to uncheck and recheck this to get it to 'turn back on' or refresh.I haven't been able to see a pattern yet for why it's turning off, but it seems to sometimes do it after it goes to sleep. I have tried enabling 'Always On' for the data connection, but this doesn't help.

Ive never had a phone with battery life as terrible as this thing. i've talked to a rep that told me "just gotta let it drain and then charge. do that a couple times and it should be fine" ok i figured that was all nonsense because she wanted me off the phone so i did that. Now did that work? no of course not. i take it off the charger and after 6 minutes and 23 seconds of use it drops down 10%, the back is pretty warm at all times. i've turned off the GPS, WIFI, and whatever else their is to turn off. Its insanely pathetic. Is anyone else having this problem, it seems like no matter what when you get a verizon phone its guaranteed to break or have a problem. I get through about 5 hours of very moderate use.
View 43 Replies View Relatedi have this strange issue with my old Xperia X10 (about 3 years old, running 2.3.3). The phone runs fine, fully charged can last two days with normal usage (as always). I can play any games for hours before the battery goes dead. But as soon as I turn on data connection, both wifi or mobile network, it runs about 2 minutes and suddenly "turning off" window appears and the phone shuts down. When I start up the phone again, the battery is about 20-30% lower than before the shutdown (depends on the percentage, can drop to zero if charged at 50%) and shuts down again after couple seconds (i can barely type in the PIN code). But if I manage to turn the data connection off again in those few seconds, it doesn't shut down anymore and runs normally again. Weird thing is that in following hour after this incident, the battery slowly recharges itsself back to the original state (or little below it, just as it normally would). Here is the pic:
I guess its not faulty battery or anything, probably its software related but I can't imagine a sw that could drain the battery so fast (in seconds), almost like if it short-circuited the battery.
When im at my house 3g drops in and out like every other 5 seconds I was just wondering if this is normal or not.

I connect to my windows 7 pc and it is fine for surfing the web but if i download torrents it works for a couple minutes then i can see the 3g icon go away and come back over and over. But i download torrents fine if i use pdanet to tether.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else seeing this behavior?right before I make a voice call the droid will show 4 bars, when I place a voice call it will drop to 0 bars and the voice quality is pretty bad.In the phone settings you can see the DBm signal strengh and before I make a call it will show -96 and when I make a call it will go to -104.I have noticed this even when right on top of a cell tower.You actually don't notice it when the signal is very strong, but on my droid it does appear that the signal degraded significantly when doing a voice call.It also does the same thing when the Wifi is turned on, it's almost like it's switching to another antenna for the voice when wifi is on or you make a call.So far I have not been impressed with the phones voice quaility at all.
View 32 Replies View RelatedOver the past week I've noticed 3 instances where my HTC Hero just spontaneously switches off.. Screen black, buttons not lighted up. First time, I was editing the Calendar, second time I was viewing my photo album. Most recently, I had the phone in my pocket with music player playing and the phone just stopped working. Battery level wasnt low and I had to remove the battery and reinsert it to get the phone going again for each of those times. The phone might have crashed but idk, this never happened before the past few days (Ive been using it for 2.5 months now)
View 18 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to adjust the volume (ringer/media/navigation) I press the button and sometimes it's okay but mostly nothing will happen for up to 5 seconds and then all of the sudden it'll catch up and shoot right to the end. If I press it repeatedly instead of holding on, it normally takes a few presses before the first adjustment then it'll work pretty much okay but it might do a few moves then stop again randomly. The most annoying time is when I'm on the phone and I can't hear what's being said! I do not want to install a volume control app.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post here. Got my Desire recently and i am loving the phone. Like other i was having battery issues but following the advice here i was able to extend the battery life considerably, so im hoping someone here may know something about an issue om having.
Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?
Anyone else's phone randomly stop receiving SMS messages? I even have SMStomail installed and it doesn't catch the SMS messages at all. I can make calls, get emails, but no SMS at all until I reboot. It's happened twice and is beginning to get annoying.
This is not the same as the SMS/VM issue because a simple reboot solves it, and I am no where near 40mb on my ROM, and the SMStomail service doesn't catch it.
I just signed up for these forums because soon I will be an HTC Desire owner in Canada. Having never owned a smartphone before I do have a few questions. The plan I intend on signing up for is the Telus Student 40 and that will come with only 100mb of data. Now I don't see myself being too data using heavy so I feel like I will be able to live with it. However I do have some questions regarding my data consumption.
1. Is it possible to completely stop all data usage by somehow disabling the data connection if I find myself reaching my limit?
2. What are ways to track my data usage to make sure I don't use too much data?
3. What are good ways to conserve data usage? I'm getting the feeling that there are some applications that will constantly be sending data back and forth updating themselves, is it possible to have these applications but stop them from constantly updating and only have them update when I want to access the application?.........
Anyone else running into the problem where their droid x will randomly get really bogged down and basically freezxe up?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid for a little over 60 days, and I've recently started seeing what I consider a Major issue. This aside, I Love my Droid, but I've been ready to throw it through a wall lately. It's been restarting at LEAST 10, maybe even up to 20 times a day. I uninstalled every app I had on it to see if maybe it was an app causing the problem. I hadn't downloaded any new ones before I started noticing it, but it was worth exploring.
So far, it hasn't helped at All. It's still randomly restarting all the time. I don't even have to do anything with it. It's restarted 4 times in a row just sitting on my lap while I was driving home. I've heard my "Droid" notification and checked it, seeing that it was preparing the SD card. I've left it sitting and came back to it to find it's not running any of the pages I had up when I last put it down, etc.
I went to try and open a message but the app kept bringing up an error and I'd have to force close it. The screen would then switch to my home screen but with no shortcuts just a background then after a second go black until I hit the home button. I restarted the phone and when I opened messaging ALL my conversations were gone. Is this a known glitch? is there a way to get all my texts back?
