Question.. Am I able to import my work email account(Microsoft Exchange) with GMAIL to avoid paying extra fees through verizon to enable this through my phone?

I have Gmail set up on my Nexus One (personal email). I also have Microsoft exchange setup (work email) and both work fine. The problem is that under my contacts there are duplicate entries both for Gmail and Microsoft exchange. That is causing some problems with my SMS app (duplicate contacts) and wanted to see how I could avoid syncing Microsoft exchange and delete it from my contact but still keep it on my phone. I have already unchecked the box to not sync my contacts but did that after adding it.

I've been trying a number of roms, but can't get any of them to connect to my work exchange account which is a dealbreaker for me. I thought 2.1 added the password unlock feature, but all the roms are saying "Exchange ActiveSync server requires security features your phone does not support" and I believe they've all been 2.1. What am I doing wrong?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone is having difficulty with Touchdown or the native mail app in syncing with their work email through microsoft exchange. For some reason older mail disappears in both the native mail app and touchdown. Sometimes I would see an older email I kept and then it disappears. I have set it up so that email only gets deleted from our servers when I say so. I'm also running 2.2 Froyo. Also in the native mail app, I have deleted an email but it comes back, it never gets deleted. A little frustrating to say the least.

We have one staff member here that bought a Droid Eris (Verizon) and unlike the Motorola Droid, I can't get this phone setup via Active Sync to our exchange server. I setup his account on my phone (M Droid) and it worked perfectly...messages, contacts and calendar all synced up fine. I go back to his Eris, and it says the account cannot be created at this time. All the settings are the same etc., so I'm a little stumped. I called Verizon and they said to wait for the new 2.0 upgrade that's supposed to be coming, but they weren't sure if that had been addressed or not. Am I missing something, or does the HTC Droid Eris not fully work with Active Sync with MS Exchange 2003?

My yahoo account works - I can send and receive with out a problem. I just can't receive. I can send email from the droid (company email) back to my Microsoft Exchange account without any issues. Something isn't in sync. I have tried pulling the battery and trying to resync.

I would like to see how this was accomplished. Particularly because Microsoft Exchange exposes SOAP web services, and I understand there is no native Android support for SOAP. Since this is open source, shouldn't I be able to find something in the Android source? If so, can you point me in the right direction of where to find it in the ~4Gig (!) source? I want to develop an application that accesses Exchange contacts and calendars, but don't want to reinvent that piece.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUse mail exchange and works great but has a small, but my big problem, can not receive (open) attachments, hours and hours spent I am hoping that I'll fail to find an answer but nothing. It is interesting that the attachment can be sent without a problem, but not receive. The incoming mail click on the download attachments on it apparently does not take it but not on an SD card or the device. I am hoping that the problem could possibly solve the master reset the device does the same and in the end we create an even bigger problem ... now can not even set up mail or use a browser, entering the same does not happen is absolutely nothing! tried to erase the memory of browser and other features, but nothing goes the better!

View 1 Replies View RelatedAndroid default email client when connected to office wifi doesn't sync my e-mails while if i configures my exchange account in enhanced email it works absolutely fine and all my emails starts syncing on same office wifi.
I was having an offline chat with my system administrator and he told me that they have blocked something to avoid IP pool full issue ( new users were not able to connect to office wifi as almost everyone was using two IP, one on smartphone and one on laptop).
Question is how enhanced email client is able to sync? Can i make some changes in default android email client to make it sync.? My Edge connection is too slow to download emails and can't switch to 3g as it is a company provided connection.
It seems Microsoft has come out with a scanner for android for free that they've previously made available on the iphone. Called Tag.
Microsoft Gives Android the Free Barcode-Reading Tag App - Microsoft tag android - Gizmodo. I found it in the marketplace but it doesn't work on my Eris. I downloaded it and opened it but couldn't get it to scan any of the barcodes or QR codes I tried whereas my Barcode Scanner app picked them up easily. The is started freezing, doing nothing. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and all I got was force closes after that. Maybe it is not compatible with 1.5 although it was in the marketplace. Has anyone else tried it successfully? I guess I will stick with Barcode Scanner, not sure if Tag does anything different or better than that anyway although the article said it has an advanced way of reading.
Does anyone know how to delete mail from the droid without actually removing it from my exchange account? On my old blackberry I could do this and would not actually delete from my inbox but it would delet from my phone. Is this possible? I have poked and prodded everything i can think of but cant see how to do this.

By doing this internet browsing is running in my emulator, but when i run my project to import google maps in my application, Only grid shown having no maps on it. I think proxy server donn't let it to download maps from the site.

Recently, this has not worked. Something about having to use droid sync on my computer and telephone. I downloaded HTC Sync onto my computer and cannot figure out for the life of me how to use the thing. It tells me I need to insert my Microsoft Office XP Small Business cd, I do not have this so I cant do that. Please, someone please tell me the easiest way to import my music onto my phone? This is very frustrating. I certainly am not the most intelligent person when it comes to this kind of thing, so if anyone has a solution to my problem, please be sure to include minor details. I really appreciate any input.

All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Is there any way for me to regain those contacts without having to re-enter every one of them all over again, or possibly without having to go to Verizon for them to import my contacts?

I usually just read what other people wrote, but I can't seem to find a related post for my current problem.I date someone overseas in S. Korea, and since there's no way to send text msgs in Korean from here, I talk to her using activesync with a gmail account. She can check emails on her phone from Korea, and my phone sends me notification everytime I get an email from her. Basically it's same as texting except it allows me to type in Korean and doesn't cost a dime.For the reasons mentioned above, saving battery life isn't much of an option for me. I need to have activesync or gmail push running instantly. I tried using "check email every 5 minutes", but just imagine having to stay idle for 5 minutes everytime you text with your friends.
As of today, gmail push on android seems to work with 5 - 30 minutes delay (or manual refresh). However, Exchange Activesync will not even allow me to sync gmail (Different errors every time even though I'm putting the same information; gmail address,m.google.com as server address, username & password). I thought activesync just allows me to use "gmail push" on HTC mail app, so I don't quite understand why gmail app works (despite the lag), but activesync won't even let me sync my mail. Activesync last worked on 06/17/2010.Also, gmail push works with no lag when I'm on wifi. Is this normal?I'm starting to think there's a problem with the Sprint network or my phone. Gmail push also works instantly if my 3G bar is white. If it's greyed out, no emails come until the 3G bar turns white. Now I have to turn on AIM or MSN messenger to keep the data flowing and manually keep the 3G bar white. Then gmail push comes instantly. It's pretty ridiculous because the battery then lasts about 2-4 hours.
Just wondering if there are any tips or suggestions for using "Touchdown" exchange in place of the Gmail account, especially to avoid getting duplicate msg alerts for new mail?Once set up in Touchdown, should one delete the email account set-up in messaging? Also, I have a second gmail account for personal mail but for now have only setup my work account in Touchdown. Should I do the same for this account in Touchdown - Exchange?
