HTC Droid Eris : How Do I Keep Streaming Uninterrupted
Feb 12, 2010
I use StreamFurious pro to stream online radio to my Eris and love it except for two things. It takes awhile to buffer and start playing is one. But I consider this to be the nature of the beast. Since I am listening to Internet radio over a Cell network, I gotta take what I can get.
but, it is annoying that when I am listening and I get a call or a txt, the sound dies out and so I can hear the notification. Then, when I've ignored the call, (which I usually do), the stream has to re-buffer. Is there anyway to avoid this happening? It's esp. annoying with texts which don't require sound at all.

I would like to be able to stream a particular fm station (wbgo) on my eris. It's an NPR station that streams on the internet, but requires either realplayer, winamp or windows media player (it's also on itunes). All of the radio players I've seen or seen discussed here carry commercial stations (for example, iheartradio has Clear Channel stations).

I am looking to figure out how to stream a video off my website through the browser. I know it is possible since I've seen some of those mobile porn sites do it, I just cant figure out what format this is in or how to get the video to play.

I was wondering how these apps work. I was looking into Pandora. Seems pretty cool but then I saw that in order for these "streaming" apps to work, you're basically paying for internet time the whole time you're listening to the music, right? If this is the case, why use this type of app vs. simply downloading the music files to the phone?

Is there any way to play Streaming radio stations other than apps built for specific services (like Pandora/last.fm/slacker/imeem).To clarify, I mean online radio stations, that use .pls files to play streams. Some also have plugin players, but since Flash isn't on the Droid yet I'm not too worried about them. But it seems like it ought to be possible to play streaming .pls files.I tried to download one and it said it couldn't be downloaded because the size could not be determined.

let me start out by saying that I totally expected this to flop, and not even come close to working.I have a Kenwood DNX6140 installed in my car.So on the way home tonight for some reason I decided to try an experiment.I live in southern california. I ran the A-Online-Radio app, and searched for a radio station I loved in Rochester, NY when I was going to school there. Low and behold, it shows up in the list. So, I turn on the bluetooth on the phone, and connect to the kenwood. I switch the kenwood to the bluetooth input, it says "connected to Droid" (didn't even expect to get this far lol), and hit play on the A-Online-Radio.
And poof, the audio starts playing through the kenwood and out my car speakers. That is so freaking awesome, I still can't believe it.The last time I was able to do this was with my VZ XV6700. I would use internet explorer on the WM device, and connect to the web page, and start the streaming, which would come out of the phones speakers. Then I'd connect an FM transmitter to the phone, so I could hear it on the stereo in the car. That sucked, was a pain in the butt, but it worked.

I have the car dock and love how the charging cable plugs into the dock so your not always plugging and unplugging it into the phone itself. You can just set it in the dock and go. Now the perfect scenario to me would be to be able to stream Slacker or MOG music from the X to the car stereo using Bluetooth. I currently have factory Bluetooth in the car, but is only for calls. I would like to get a new stereo with Bluetooth that would allow me to stream music to it in addition to using the X for Navigation. What I would like to know is how the sound quality will be? Is there anyone here currently doing this that can comment on the sound quality and let me know what deck you are using? I am REALLY hoping for success here so I can just drop the X into the car dock and go, without messing with any cables and still have very good sound quality.

I have wanted to be able to stream music via bluetooth from the droid to an audio receiver... can't think of a solution. Right now I use the application streamfurious to stream internet radio from shoutcast.com's website, an excellent source of thousands of radio links, to the droid. Now it would be sweet to be able to relay this again to another audio device. I have an auxiliary 3.5mm jack on my head unit in my car and I was wondering if anyone knew of any other device to convert that so it could stream through bluetooth. Theoretically I could just plug that into the phone but I hate wires. One other question... I know they say the data plan is unlimited but streaming music 24/7 would have a ridiculous amount of data usage. I think the cap is 5gb is this true??

One of the features touted for Froyo was the ability to stream your desktop library to your phone. I can't find any mention of it apart from those early announcements and feature lists.

I was looking forward to the hdmi out to hook up to my tv but now I see this device is DLNA capable. I also see my tv Panasonic Viera Plasma V10 has this option as well. Can anyone explain how this works and how I can set this up? I'm hoping you guys have experience with DLNA. For some reason I thought DLNA was only available to Samsung TVs.

Im streaming my radio show of choice (lex & terry app)...about 10 min goes by and it stops. I go to the phone which is hooked up to my radio and a wall charger and the 3g symbol has no activity and the program that streams my show says connection lost. Any reason why it is shutting off. I never had this problem with the eris. Just got my droid yesterday.

I've been using streamingradioguide.com to stream talk radio to my pc. You can pick a show and it will list all stations carrying it live at any particular time. Unfortunately most of the stream links are Flash. So I've searched for the station call letters in android apps and they're not there. The links from mobile stream center won't play either. Is there anything for Android that will search for call letters and play the stream?

Within Windows Media Player 12 (Win 7 x64), I have checked "Stream > Automatically allow devices to play my media" Unfortunately, when I open up Media Share on the Droid X, and continue to the music folder, it doesn't show anything - instead it lists "no files found" Open Media Share -> Computer -> Play -> Next -> Next (DLNA) -> Next (allow remote playback stuff) -> Next (confirming we're connected to the same network) -> Then I go tot he All Music folder, and the Droid X says "No files to display"

I think once Flash is available for Android phones...this will be a moot point, but.. Are there any sites out there that you may know of that streams live TV (news etc) without needing Flash? I've come across quite a few apps in the Marketplace that streams "pre-recorded" shows, and some are ok, but I'm looking for something that you can actually watch that isn't 2-3 days old. I know Orb allows you to stream live TV, but that requires you to setup a "server" with a TV Tuner card in your PC..provided that you have a spare.

I've used DLNA to connect my phone with my PS3 but it does not see any of the pictures or video in my phones folders. I also tried connecting to my Windows 7 PC. As of right now, I have no idea how to view my phones files using DLNA? Do I need a program? When I select share media, it connects and then nothing happens.

For anyone who has a Jawbone ICON, if you plug it into the computer to upgrade to the new programming it can now stream music from your DroidX. It was perfect timing for me because I was looking at buying bluetooth headphones and now I dont have to. Currently listening to Pandora through the ICON. I've also tested it on Scaner Radio.

Can the Dx output anything other than pics/videos captured with the phone? My Dx is in the mail and was wondering if I should buy a cable because I want to use it to stream youtube or other video content from the phone to tv. If it can not be done now, is that a hardware issue or a software issue that could be changed later? Also so I can control the phone while it is connected to the tv I wanted to get a 15' cable. This is the only one I see but it does not say if it is type D or not. Does that matter? I have used Handbrake to convert almost all our DVD's to MP4 (web enabled) on a 2 Terabyte network drive.
I'm looking for some "streaming application" that will allow me to watch any of these movies on my phone over the internet.
Is there such a thing? I know I have to have a dedicated computer (gateway) to access the movies, but after searching Google for the past hour, I've given up.
The only thing I can find is Orb, but the reviews aren't the greatest.
Has anyone done this successfully, and willing to share how they did it?

This is the oddest problem I've ran across since I started playing with rooting and ROMs. After a few days of installing a new ROM and/or kernel(happens across Bugles Beast, Liquid Frozen Yogurt, Simply Stunning, and Sapphire, etc) any stream that incorporates flash and has streaming audio, the audio stream plays in slow motion. Oddly enough, the video is fine, but the audio is awfully. It doesn't happen on day 1 on the ROMs, its ALWAYS a few days after I install and happens on any site I try. I've tried Unistalling the Flash player and tried several different builds of the leaked Flash player and it never fails.
I know its a long shot, but does anybody have ANY idea what might be causing the audio to freak out after a few days? I can't deduce if its a combination of apps that I'm installing or some kind of incompatibility between ROM and kernel choice I make...but its uber frustrating and I'm having to shy away from some of the nicer ROMs because I need my audio fix for the day.
Just tried in the new RC3 of Cyanogen and it does the same exact thing..I'm really at a loss, I have NO Idea how to tell whats causing this problem.

I am looking to replace my BB curve soon and have been debating for weeks on the Incredible, Droid X, and now the Fascinate. One concern of mine is the ability to stream live video (flash) from sites like atdhe.
I watch a lot of hockey and the ability to stream from a site like that would be excellent. I have been hearing mixed stuff about the video quality streaming wise from the X, and I know the Fascinate has the better GPU, so do you think that would make it the better option for streaming flash video (when it gets 2.2)?

I use Cherry and AOR Players, which seem to be the same thing. Regardless of which, when I'm playing a Shoutcast feed (wifi) it simply shuts off. This would be a minor annoyance except for the fact that I like to listen to it when I go to bed. Having to keep restarting the feed is not conducive to relaxing and eventual sleep.
They tend to shut off on my laptop too but nowhere near as frequently. What are your experiences?

TempMon is reporting 107 F + while streaming. That's battery temp, of course.CPU is significantly hotter than that.I've tried clocks from 700 up to 1100 and can't get it any cooler.at 700 its barely responsive enough to be functional.at 1200 it reboots.
