HTC Droid Eris :: 2.1 HTC Sense And Home Screen

I have done a little bit or searching for this but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. So if it is out there then I am sorry for the repetitive post.I just updated to 2.1, and can't figure out how to switch to the Home instead of HTC Sense Home? Anyone out there know how to do this? Before on 1.5 OS, all I had to do was hold down the "Home" button to display my most recent 6 apps, then hit the button again to pick if I wanted "Home" or "HTC Sense".Now, that does not work.

So this topic came up in the root thread and i didnt want to take that thread way off topic so i started this one. If you disable sense and run home instead, does sense still load in the background when you restart your phone even if you have home set as the default?

when I hit the "Home" soft key, I get "complete action using "Home" or "HTC Sense"both of which take me to different home screens?What happened that this all of a sudden gives me this option?I've never seen this before and want to know what I did to get this?

I've read that s ome have turned off Sense and have seen an improvement in performance and battery life running vanilla ANDROID.
If one uses Home Switcher does that accomplish the same thing, or is Sense still running in the background?

Does anyone know of a ROM that is Sense based and also includes a Home Screen Rotation ability?I know that LP can do this, but I value the Sense widgets more than resorting to LP.unless every single Sense widget could be replaced for under $15 total.

I want my phone to have the capability of rotating the home screen for landscape use in my car mount. But I do not want to go to another home screen replacement app, I want to keep Sense UI.Does anyone know of a ROM that will allow for this?

I had to delete all of my HTC SenseUI home screen customizations (wallpaper and icons) today. I accidentally caused the problem myself, though I think Sense could have been more clever about stopping me. What happened was that I saw a new notification "Ringtone App downloaded." I had not downloaded it, and my son had just been playing with the phone, so I figured he must have done it. I deleted the application, and the phone warned me that it would "reset my icon on the home screen" or something like that. I blithely said OK and deleted the thing. Then, when I went back to the home screen I got the message "The Application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly." The only option available was "Force Close," and soon as that was pressed the message would appear again.
I was able to get out of it by following the instructions at this HTC Desire page . Now my phone is fine again, but I need to repopulate my 7 home screens.
Two questions:
(1) Why did the Notifications bar tell me this app had been downloaded? My son later said he had not done so. Could it have been an automatic update by HTC?
(2) Am I now missing some sort of Android or HTC ringtone app? I don't normally use ringtones other than the built-in ones but it would be nice to know whether I deleted a standard-issue app and how to get it back if desired.

I forgot what i clicked on but it asked me "complete action using" then it gave me three choices to choose from which were
Default home
HTC sence
Forgot the third
This is referring to the homescreen and the default home is what the defualt android home screen looks like and HTC sence is what i need. I clicked on the Defualt home and now my home screen looks different. How do i get that option to pop up again so I can choose HTC sence?

This is driving me crazy. The phone is pretty much useless when this starts happening. I will be on the Main home screen and then it will start jumping Home screens as if I'm swiping to the left but I'm NOT swiping! Once it is on the last screen to the left it won't let me switch back to HOME. I can almost never do anything when this happens. I haven't dropped the phone. I've reset the G-Sensor. Has anyone experianced this? I've even done a Wipe of the device.

I just installed lock 2.0 and i was just adjusting the settings and now every time I'm in my phone and i touch the "Home" button it locks my phone instead of taking me back to my home screen! Is this normal? Did I accidental do it in the settings? HELP its driving me crazy

So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

I don't know if I'm missing something in the settings or what, but every time I shake my Eris while running an app the screen automatically goes back th the home screen. This gets really annoying when using apps that require such actions. Anyone else having this issue or know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe an app that's causing it.

I've been playing around with some of the other Home alternatives. So far, I found good things and bad things about each one of them. Right now, I'm trying out Helix launcher. I like the fact that I can add any shortcut to the bottom row next to the launcher. Open Home seems to have the most skins available. I like the clean look of the generic Android Home, but 3 screens is a little lacking.

i saw on some of the user interfaces that you can list your notes on a home screen. how to do that?. if i long press on a home screen it brings up note everything but not a list of all my items. i wanted to be able to see my list of things to do on the home screen. if this is not the right app to do that

I'm trying to go through these threads and nothing is making sense. I was a long time bb user and they seemed so much easier than this phone. Problem #1: When I hit the home button it used to ask if I wanted to go to the home screen or the HTC sense now it doesn't ask, how do I get it to ask again? Problem #2: Which is better to use the home screen or HTC sense? Why? Problem #3: I see that there is a new upgrade but when I go to the system upgrade it tells me my system is up to date? It currently reads V 1.5. I just wish I had a manual that I can just sit down and read and a tutorial to show me all the advantages of this phone over my bb.

I use HTC Sense on my phone, the problem I have is my phone is not saving my default home settings. When I push the home button it asks me which program I want to use to complete the action (either andriod Home or HTC Sense), I always click the box indicating I want to use this option as default every time I push home but 10 minutes later when I push the home button again it asks me again which program I want to use. I have double checked in my settings and it shows HTC Sense is set as my default home setting but something just isnt right.

I just discovered this issue - it may be only relevant to 2.1 since I upgraded (or to something else entirely) but when my Eris is plugged in and I use it the Home Screen seems to act crazy - well not that crazy - just that with motion the Homes Screens roll "left( that is to the left most screen) almost like I am using the track ball (but only in one direction) - unplug it and it works fine - its not a major issue but a wierd one - anyone else notice this behavior.
