I dropped my phone (htc eris) in snow but it didn't submerge and I checked the water damage indicator and it still has the little red x's on the white strip so there was no water damage. But now the phone is randomly stuck in headphone mode. I have searched the forum and the only fix people have mentioned is rebooting and taking out the battery... That doesn't work for me.

None of those suggestions made a difference.So to test I sent myself an email and had the GMAIL app open on the ERIS.It sometimes give me a conversation notice but does not actually download the email to the app for a long time. And then only if I force a refresh.I have full 3G where I am so that can't be it. Also, I do no have a task killer and I keep mobile on all the time.The ERIS doeseverything else very well with the exception of e-mail.
View 14 Replies View RelatedNow that I've updated to 2.1, most of the apps (weather and time apps) no longer work correctly.I live in Panama City Beach but these apps continue to tell me I am slightly north of Tallahassee over 100 miles away and in a different time zone. Stays the same regardless of GPS on or off,I have deleted and re-installed all of the offending programs and that didn't help either.Everything was great prior to the update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedProbably a very simple fix here, but I can't figure it out. I deleted a few roms off of my sd card to make room for the new warm 2.2 release and went to flash it. For some reason, when I'm in the boot screen, I select recovery, but it doesn't boot into the actual recovery mode anymore, it goes to another white screen which I think is the fastboot screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI found this on Android Central (thanks to IzelTokatl) and someone there did verify it worked for OTA 2.1 phones. I tried it on my leak version 3 phone and I got the Hboot error again. I'm thinking this does not bode well for phones with the leak as once Verizon releases the upgrade for download from PCD or HTC we still won't be able to use it until the Hboot problem is fixed. The following instructions for doing the downgrade to 1.5 are cut and pasted from the Android Central forum and I edited them for PC's: Download the MR2 Upgrade Eris ROM from verizon partner: personal Communications Devices
1. Unzip the file
2. Plug your phone into your PC.
3. Navigate to folder ADR6200_MR2_Upgrade
4. Run .exe file in the folder (RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_1.17.605.1_release_signe d_with_driver.exe)
5. follow on screen instructions.
We have tried everything to get a bluetooth earpiece to work with the HTC Droid. The only thing that works is answering a call and the quality is questionable.
You cannot use voice dialing at all. Last call redial doesn't work. Nothing that we have come to take for granted on cell phones for years works. If a 3 year old Motorola flip can do it, it can't be that hard.
Anyone have any idea if this is going to get fixed in the next release? I didn't find it even described in the release for December 11th.
I text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
I downloaded the ringtone the boss uses in a Geico commercial to my cellphone. I moved the file to media/audio/ringtones but the phone doesn't see it as a ringtone.

got a few things im not sure how to fix or what im doing wrong. first off my alarm clock does not go off in the mornings for work. i set a alarm for a few mins ahead of the actual time to see if it works and it goes off. but the next morning nothing still. also both my emails do not refresh themselves anymore. i have to go in and refresh to see if i got any mail. Another thing is when i change my notification ringtone for my text messages it does not change to what i set. i go back in and it is still set to what i put it at but when i get a text its not what i set... does anyone have any ideas on any of this. im sure im doing something wrong but its driving me crazy

View 18 Replies View RelatedSince I only have access to the emulators, I don't know if the problem can be reproduced on real phones. I'm using setCurrentTab on a TabHost to dynamically select a tab. When I am in portrait mode, it works, but as soon as I change to landscape (ctrl + f12), it doesn't work anymore. It doesn't send an exception, it just doesn't do anything. If I switch back to portrait (ctrl + f12), it doesn't work either. That means it just works when I first am in portrait mode. As soon as I change, it stops working. In order to make it work again, I need to close the application and reopen it.
The TabHost is from the current activity, which is a TabActivity.
Can you check if this happens to you too (emulator)?
i have a samsung galaxy S1 with cyanogenmod, and i don't know what happened but when i turn on the phone it just stay on the loading screen, something like this : just a black screen with that little loading icon in it (without animation) i tried running both recovery and downloading mode (V+/v-,menu,Power) but nothing works too, and there is another strange behavior, sometimes, it show me the "Downloading.... do not turn off target !!! " message, when it is in that screen, the pc does recognies the samsung driver but i have no access to it, and Odin doesn't find the device

a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
Will flashing a new ROM over an existing one wipe out all the apps and settings. including contacts? If so then what is the method to backup and bring it all back. To much of a pain to continually re-install apps and resync (particularly since HTC sync doesn't work very well).
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I used to use Swype on xtrROM 3.0.3 and it worked fine. After switching to 4.0.6.1, the swiping action doesn't produce any text but tapping the letters does. I've been all over the Swype forum and see a lot of complaints that Swype has the same problem on Froyo. Any ideas? At least I still was able to find SahpeWriter but it isn't as smooth as Swype was.

I really like my Eris but the volume level is really bothering me. I can plug my IPod touch (with volume about 90%) into my car using the headphone jack and setting my car volume to a little less than half way is plenty loud. Playing the same audio tracks through the headphone jack of my Eris plugged in the exact same way with the volume cranked all the way up and I have to literally turn the stereo volume to the max to get the same level.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay so sometime yesterday my headphone jack just stopped working; the sound would only come out of the phone even with a headphone plugged in. I took the headphones out, turned it off, and turned it back on. Working again, no problem. Now today, I'm listening to music and realize I'm only getting sound out of one earbud. I thought it was weird for a headphone to blow out since I just recently got it in March, but I figured it must've just been that - a blown out earbud. However, my friend tried his headphones in there just to make sure, and the same thing happened. He wasn't getting sound out of his left (or right, not sure) earbud. I've tried turning it off and on with the headphones out, the headphones in, as well as downloading that headphone jack toggler from another thread I found on here. Same problem. :/ Is my headphone jack done for? Am I gonna have to get it replaced? Will the basic warranty even cover something like this? I guarantee I didn't drop it or get it submerged in water or anything...

My problem is that the 'adb reboot' command does make the system reboot, but it never completes (I need to do a keyboard interrupt if I run it manually in order to issue another command) I was wondering if there is anyway I could make my script go to the next command after a certain fixed amount of time? What could be going wrong with the adb reboot command? Sorry if my question is vague.

I just wonder has anyone ever come to a situation where an app or a game needs a d-pad, but doesn't support the landscape mode, so you have no choice but to use the phone in portrait with the slider open.
and in that case would the "up" button(in landscape mode) become the "right" button, or does it still recognize it as an UP button? Is it comfortable to hold the phone that way?
I could imagine some games that are designed for the Hero/magic would require you to use the d-pad/trackball.
