So I used to use Swype on xtrROM 3.0.3 and it worked fine. After switching to 4.0.6.1, the swiping action doesn't produce any text but tapping the letters does. I've been all over the Swype forum and see a lot of complaints that Swype has the same problem on Froyo. Any ideas? At least I still was able to find SahpeWriter but it isn't as smooth as Swype was.

If I ever decide to cancel typing (say I have text input open and the Swype keyboard is covering the bottom half of my screen) the keyboard stays open and I have to tap home again for it to disappear. Are there any workarounds for this or is it simply because its beta? I noticed that even if I revert back to the default Sense keyboard it does the same thing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.
View 30 Replies View RelatedOk! Just a little confused here. Does Swype Lite not work with 2.1 ver.2 leak. I've followed everyones instructions and can even go through the Swype tutorial but the choice of keyboards doesn't show up when I try to send a text or e-mail. All I get is the stock keyboard. Am I doing something seriously wrong here? This is somewhat fustrating because I prefer Swype by leaps and bounds. I'd buy it from the market but it's not available. I know some will send me to other posts with instructions, but I have tried them ALL. I just can't get it to work. Any suggestions?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSwype worked fine for me before I received the 2.2 update on my Droid Inc last week, but now it doesn't. I've tried the following, as recommended in many other posts:
1) uninstall and reinstall swype
2) switch text input method to default keyboard and then back to swype
3) hard re-set phone, and none works in restoring swype. Oddly, in the "settings/language and keyboard" menu, swype is checked as enabled, but in actuality it isn't.
I am at 1.5 system right now and I am using swype beta. Should I upgrade to 2.1 version, which version of swype will work on it?

a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
Yes I did read all the other posts about this. None of those suggestions made a difference.So to test I sent myself an email and had the GMAIL app open on the ERIS.It sometimes give me a conversation notice but does not actually download the email to the app for a long time. And then only if I force a refresh.I have full 3G where I am so that can't be it. Also, I do no have a task killer and I keep mobile on all the time.The ERIS doeseverything else very well with the exception of e-mail.
View 14 Replies View RelatedNow that I've updated to 2.1, most of the apps (weather and time apps) no longer work correctly.I live in Panama City Beach but these apps continue to tell me I am slightly north of Tallahassee over 100 miles away and in a different time zone. Stays the same regardless of GPS on or off,I have deleted and re-installed all of the offending programs and that didn't help either.Everything was great prior to the update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI found this on Android Central (thanks to IzelTokatl) and someone there did verify it worked for OTA 2.1 phones. I tried it on my leak version 3 phone and I got the Hboot error again. I'm thinking this does not bode well for phones with the leak as once Verizon releases the upgrade for download from PCD or HTC we still won't be able to use it until the Hboot problem is fixed. The following instructions for doing the downgrade to 1.5 are cut and pasted from the Android Central forum and I edited them for PC's: Download the MR2 Upgrade Eris ROM from verizon partner: personal Communications Devices
1. Unzip the file
2. Plug your phone into your PC.
3. Navigate to folder ADR6200_MR2_Upgrade
4. Run .exe file in the folder (RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_1.17.605.1_release_signe d_with_driver.exe)
5. follow on screen instructions.
Pinch zoom is not working in the browser. Don't know if th is is a limitation of this ROM or some other issue.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWe have tried everything to get a bluetooth earpiece to work with the HTC Droid. The only thing that works is answering a call and the quality is questionable.
You cannot use voice dialing at all. Last call redial doesn't work. Nothing that we have come to take for granted on cell phones for years works. If a 3 year old Motorola flip can do it, it can't be that hard.
Anyone have any idea if this is going to get fixed in the next release? I didn't find it even described in the release for December 11th.
Any reason Cricket internet doesn't work on Froyo builds? I have flashed all of them, and after flashing the 'cricket internet V9' it won't connect. If I flash back to a 2.1 ROM, it works. What gives? It's really annoying because I want to run KaosV27, but can't without 3g.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone (htc eris) in snow but it didn't submerge and I checked the water damage indicator and it still has the little red x's on the white strip so there was no water damage. But now the phone is randomly stuck in headphone mode. I have searched the forum and the only fix people have mentioned is rebooting and taking out the battery... That doesn't work for me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
I downloaded the ringtone the boss uses in a Geico commercial to my cellphone. I moved the file to media/audio/ringtones but the phone doesn't see it as a ringtone.

got a few things im not sure how to fix or what im doing wrong. first off my alarm clock does not go off in the mornings for work. i set a alarm for a few mins ahead of the actual time to see if it works and it goes off. but the next morning nothing still. also both my emails do not refresh themselves anymore. i have to go in and refresh to see if i got any mail. Another thing is when i change my notification ringtone for my text messages it does not change to what i set. i go back in and it is still set to what i put it at but when i get a text its not what i set... does anyone have any ideas on any of this. im sure im doing something wrong but its driving me crazy

Of the apps I've downloaded, only a few of them have worked. Of those few that work, some don't work right. Has anyone had problems with these apps crashing on them, or just not working correctly?
- Nice Battery (see description at bottom of: My Ultimate CLIQ settings (so far))
- WeatherBug (kept showing the wrong location, crashed when trying to change location)
- Snake - doesn't work just says its "paused"
- RingDroid - crashes when I select the "Facebook Pop" button
- Layar - screen is rotated 90 degrees at all times
There have been others, but usually I just uninstall them right after discovering it doesn't work right.
I've had an HTC Desire on Orange in the UK for about 6 weeks and it is having persistent problem. Firstly despite having a strong 4-bar out of 4 signal, online services and the internet do not work at all when a 3G signal is being received (e.g. news, weather, all widgets, internet, email etc).Calls and texts do work however with a 3G signal.But when a 3g+ signal (HSDPA) is being received, all internet services as above work fine.However, when a 3+ signal is being received, the phone does not make or receive calls or text messages, and often fails to send texts. Calls I make immediately shut down (bleep + �call ended�), and incoming calls from other people go straight to answerphone. Also often when turning the data connection on/off, it freezes and has to be rebooted, and turning airplane setting on and off does not fix the problem.
I have also tried the different network settings (GSM, WCDMA, auto, etc). �GSM� sends and receives calls and texts but doesn�t work (or is incredibly slow) with internet, and �auto� and �WCDMA only� show the problems as above.I don't think this is a network/coverage issues as, as I have seen many people reporting these same issues on other networks and in other parts of the UK, and I have read that other people are having to manually turn off HSDPA to be able to make calls (using an app?). Even if I can stop HSDPA from connecting to make sure the phone works, I still can�t use the internet at all on 3g � even GSM works better!
Finally, when I connect to a bluetooth device (e.g. car and headphones) the phone will connect briefly, and then randomly disconnect. I have also seen this issue reported elsewhere.I very much like the phone and don't want to get rid of it, but these problems are making the phone unuseable.Also I don't know if I should be contacting HTC or Orange about this. Will the upcoming Android 2.2 fix these problems?Anyone know how to fix this or if I need a new handset? Are there any apps that can help? Also does the Nexus One have these problems and are they fixed by Froyo?
So I made a discovery - my dialpad doesn't work during a call. Even if I bring it up via the softkeys, the numbers don't register a tap...anyone. else have this issue or is it just my phone?
