I just recently downloaded the handcent SMS and when I go into settings then custom style it will stay in it for a few seconds then I get a black screen and then it goes back to settings. I can't customize anything, and it does the same when i'm reading my messagse.

But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was sending a text message on my phone and after I exited out of Handcent, my home screen was completely black. I thought this might be a fluke so I powered it off and back on and it still came up black. The lock screen will show, but when I unlock the screen, it was showing nothing but black. I was using Lock 2.0 for lock screen and helix for my home. Finally, we were able to get it back working, but I can't for the life of me tell you what we did to get it working again. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know what could have caused it and how to prevent it in the future?

View 7 Replies View RelatedAnyway, if you're like me and go crazy that the icon text for handcent doesn't fit in the allotted space, you can delete that icon, long press on the screen, and add the handcent widget. This has a label that fits on the screen and acts just like the original icon. I know you can do this with bettercut, but some people don't want to use it.

I've managed to change the indicator light color for handcent sms, but I've had no luck digging through the menus for any other options. It seems that the light is capable of multiple colors. I'm thinking a cycle when the phone rings would be pretty cool. Any ideas?

When it crashes - the screen goes black, but the green alert light still flashes. Does anyone else have this or a solution? It is stock with just a few added apps from the market.

When I try to reboot it just goes black and comes back to this screen. I can get to clockwork and do and nandroid backup, but I just wanted to know what potentially caused this so I can avoid this in the future.

This gets really annoying when using apps that require such actions. Anyone else having this issue or know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe an app that's causing it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use HTC Sense on my phone, the problem I have is my phone is not saving my default home settings. When I push the home button it asks me which program I want to use to complete the action (either andriod Home or HTC Sense), I always click the box indicating I want to use this option as default every time I push home but 10 minutes later when I push the home button again it asks me again which program I want to use. I have double checked in my settings and it shows HTC Sense is set as my default home setting but something just isnt right.

One being when I am talking on the phone and I need to hit a button how do I get my screen to turn back on? Sometimes its like the phone knows it needs to turn back on and other times I fight with it. Also the battery life is killing me but I do use it alot.
View 4 Replies View RelatedForgive me if someone else has asked this, but I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.I understand that the proximity/light sensor turns off the screen when the Eris is next to your ear to prevent "face dailing", etc. And, I understand the screen comes back on when the sensor senses light. Ok, that works fine.BUT, what do you do if you are using the phone in the dark? When I pull the phone away, the screen will not come back on because it does not sense light. For example, trying to delete a voicemail if you're using the phone in the dark. I've tried every button to re-activate the screen, and the only one that will work is the "End" key. And that obviously ends the call.

I was trying to figure out how to delete one of those contacts from my favorites and I sent the whole screen into the remove box and deleted it (I've since figured out how to remove a singe contact). i cannot for the life of me get it back. verizon says it was lost after the upgrade. i put the "people" icon on my now when i need to call a friend who is on my "favorite" list, i hit that icon, it brings me to all contacts and at the bottom i then have to depress favorites which brings up groups, then hit favorites. like 4 steps to make a phone call?
