I just updated to 2.1. When I go to compose a text message and start searching for a contact, it's showing everyone of my Facebook friends. I just want to see my Google Contacts. In the People app, I only have Google checked to view. Why are all these FB contacts appearing when composing a text message?

As I say when I create a new SMS I press the To field and start to enter a name and do not get any drop down field. I have a phone full of contacts and can reply to messages if they are send to me. In this case i am trying to forward a message to a contact. It is the same if i click new message and click too, none of my contacts drop down. Does anyone know why this is happening, how to fix it or if you are having the same problem. Its very frustrating to have such and advanced phone and not be able to select a contact to send a message too!
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs I am a new user I do have a question. When I try to compose a text message in the Messaging app my contacts do not show up whether I search by phone number or by name. My contacts are synced with my phone through my gmail account. I am able to see my contacts as well as go into the contacts app and send a text from there. Is there something that I am doing wrong or perhaps just not getting?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyways, on every other phone I've ever had, text messaging had a regular group of folders such as Inbox, Sent, Deleted, Outbox, etc. I do not see this on my Eris. I can see the new ones of course but not sure where my sent items are (if anywhere?) and where my deleted items go (permanently deleted?). I've had a couple of texts deleted that I needed later on but couldn't find so it's irritating enough to start searching for answers!
View 6 Replies View RelatedHave new Droid X, getting settled in and doing all the setup tasks. Migrating from Palm Treo. Exported all contacts by category(group) as CSV. Imported into Gmail, all was well. I then set up my ICE contacts and notes. Now my contacts are gone from the main contacts button on the home screen. I still have access to the contacts from inside the dialer,email and messaging apps, but when I press the contacts icon on the lower right of the home screen, I get

Contacts: Google (with the + mark to add a new contact)
No recent status updates. If I touch the 'Contacts: Google' button, I can choose between 'all contacts, Favorites, Google, Phone contacts', but all are blank.
The Droid is my first smartphone. Before it I was texting with the dialpad, and the phone would count down how many letters I have left (out of 160, the text msg length). Using the "messaging" icon on the Droid it never says when I'm approaching the text message limit. So is this "messaging" icon really like an instant messenger? It's not GTalk, that's another icon. If I send a 250 character txt message through the "messaging" app, does it get broken into 2 messages for the receiver?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI haven't seen anything quite like this and am unable to identify this issue on the open forums here so thought I would reach out. I do apologize if I missed it somewhere so if its out there please feel to direct me there.Picked up the HTC Eris about 2 weeks ago. I've started noticing a very strange issue as of last week. Using the stock messaging app I keep all my text strings with my various contacts. So let's say I have 7 different text strings in there now all from 7 different people. Now, for whatever reason, If I receive a new text message from a new person it will throw that new person's text into an existing text string of one of the other contacts rather than creating its own separate text string. Make sense? Just mixes it in there. So for instance, If I have a previous string from me to my wife it will throw a new text from my mom into my wife's existing text string. If I attempt to reply to that text sent from my mom that went into my wife's text string then my wife will receive the message. And its totally random. I've noticed this with 3 different contacts. So its just not one specific contact. And its literally like 6 or 7 people. Its not like I have a huge backup of text messages.
Now as I've mentioned its only about 2.5 weeks old. I don't throw alot of apps on there (I think I have 6) and I've rebooted this thing twice. I've taken it to Verizon and the guy there didn't know what to make of it. Said I might have a defective phone or possibly try a factory reset. He also mentioned waiting for the update and if its not corrected by then I can get an Eris replacement. Anyway, I wasn't ready to switch it out yet cause I love this phone and am hoping someone out there has maybe seen this issue and maybe can tell me what the heck is going on. Thanks in reading this and I look forward to any possible suggestions.
I am struggling to add a contact to a new text message, b4 2.1 I just use to start typing a contacts name into the contact box and it would automatically find the contact, now I have to tap the button next to contact and it lists everyone about 15 times each, which means it takes forever to load them up! Has anyone else had this problem? any ideas how I can sort it? I only have Google contacts marked on my contacts menu!

View 8 Replies View RelatedIn Google Contacts I've entered birthdays and subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Google Calendar.They show up as intended in Google Calendar but in my phones calendar they're all listed twice. Unsubscribing from the contacts birthdays calendar makes both disappear, so they're not from some other calendar.Is this a bug in the Galaxy S calendar? Any solutions?

Is there a way to show all the calendar entries from January through the present day? View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created multiple sub calendars within my standard gmail calendar account to managed my kids calendars. Doesn't look as though these calendars will come over to my Eris running 1.6. Is that correct? Any work around or am I missing something?
In the calendar option on the phone I see:

My work gmail calendar

I Can't figure this out for the life of me. Why is t that I only have a few names at best that show up when I get a Message/call? I can't seem to find the pattern, any idea on how to fix this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI do not know how but for some reason the phone numbers in my contacts (People) list are now displayed in US format instead of UK i.e. 123-456-78910 instead of 12345678910. When sending an SMS and i load up the contacts list BOTH the US and UK formats are displayed. I have tried deleting all my contacts and reimporting them from a back up on the SD card but no change. I have also tried to change the view settings of the list in case its my google contacts showing but it shows 0 contacts for google but 149 for the phone, i only have half that. I have used HTC Sync Google sync recently, could these be the problem? If so how do i fix it?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if 2.1 still had the following bugs/problems that myself, and a lot of people seem to encounter with 1.5, or if it's phone specific not OS specific.
1. Problems receiving picture messages. Specifically receiving a message saying "Message not downloaded. Retransmission scheduled for XX:XX", even if you click "Download" button multiple times.
2. When receiving a text message longer than 160 characters, you get a message saying "The preceding messages modified. Media objects removed." and the sender gets a message saying that you do not support enhanced messaging service, even though you DO actually receive the entire message. I know the Incredible doesn't have this problem, but the Eris does.
How do I get Gmail pictures to show up in contacts list? I only have one contact with their picture showing up, and 25-30 that are not. Do I have to set the contact up differently for the picture to sync with Gmail?

One of the problems that i have been having is that when i start a text message and go to put the contact in all of my contacts are duplicated, even though this is not the case when i open up the People folder. Is there any way that i can get this to return to normal? Each of the duplicated contacts in the messages widget has a blank face next to it and the other has a picture of what looks like a sim card.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.
First off the phone is not rooted or flash and I am using handcent. Now to the problem. If I'm looking st my contacts all the pictures show. However when I receive an incoming call or message the picture is not on there. When I receive a call it doesn't even show up on my caller id it just shows the number. I have updated the prl and profile from another issue that I'm still having trouble with. The longer I have this phone the more problems I'm having.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just received an update with the latest firmware for the Mini Pro. My RoadSync still does not sync my Outlook contacts to the phone. Mail and Calendar works just fine but when I try to reach my contacts I am just presented with the blue menu, asking me to add users manually or to sync with Google etc. There are no more settings to set in the RoadSync application more than to checkmark the contacts - then they should "automatically" show up in the Android contact list, which does not happen. This is really a very big issue, making the phone almost unusable.

Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

Do the messages get stored on my card or device? SHould i delete my podcasts that rest on my card?
When my girlfriend got her Eris about 4-5 months ago Verizon was kind enough to copy her contacts from her Razor phone to her new Eris. However she now needs to return the phone for service (silent call bug) and she went to G mail to ensure all her contacts was backed up... they are not. It seems the contacts are stored on her phone (Eris) and not in g mail. How can we import all of her contacts from the phone memory into G mail?
