Does anyone knowa way to set up a shortcut or widget to go directly to search all people. This phone is too slow to open people and then also wait for the search window to open. Lately I have just been searching contacts through the dialer since it is faster.

Well, because no one has any idea how to change from the phone symbol to the index card symbol on the large "people" icons I found another way to do what I want.
I still can't believe nobody knows how to fix that problem but oh well.
Anyway, I found that you can add a people shortcut which adds a small face icon and made my own people page.
It works great. When you tap it it brings up all of the persons info and allows you to choose what action you want.
Just like the large default people icons *IF* you could change to the index card symbol.
Now, the ONLY problem is, I can't get the persons picture to show up on the main page instead of the silhouette pic.
I am synced with google so all my contacts have pics and they DO show up in the info when you tap on the icon but NOT on the main page icon.
I just want to add the pic to the home page icon, any ideas how to to do it ?
Is there a widget for switching HTC Sense "scenes"? Or a "shortcut"? Seems like that would be a simple one to implement. My idea would be a 1x1 shortcut I could put on my home screen to switch to my "work" scene. Then in the work scene I would put one to take me back to my "home" scene.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have seen the new HTC Droid Eris commercial a few times and it seems to fudge the truth when using the HTC people widget. You can clearly see in the commercial someone clicking on a person from the HTC people widget. However, after they click the person it brings up the person's information, as opposed to performing the default action specified for the contact. From my tinkering with this widget, it seems that you cannot actually perform the action they show in the commercial.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have two contacts in there currently and want to get rid of them and start over. Can't figure out any way to do it. I even went into 'manage applications' and found the widget and cleared the cache and data and the dang thing still shows the same two contacts that I want to get rid of. This widget is pretty useless. Can't put in multiple instances of the same contact (like one for cell and one for home), yet you also can't seem to just set it to take you to their contact info when you click on a person - you have to choose a default.

Old craigslist ads are now in my contact list.I would like to have a contact with their mobile, home, emails, etc as one contact not 3,4 or 5.Also, I selected which ones I wanted before the link and I ended up will all of them.Finally, the people widget would be great if you didnt have to select a default action. I might text the same person alot but how do I call or email them from the widget if they have a default command?

Only way to manage the old digital life Any who, it's a PITA going into GMail and scrolling through the astronomical list of labels to see what's in there. Needless to say, some labels are, to me, more important than others. With that in mind, what I'd like to know is how I can create a shortcut on the desktop that will go directly to a specific label in GMail. It's gotta be possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been running the official OTA HTC FroYo update for a few weeks now and haven't really had any problems. However, today I noticed that the Google Talk shortcut when tapping a contact's photo has disappeared and has been replaced with another Phone icon. When clicking this icon I am prompted to choose from a list of completely unrelated applications to complete the action with? Google Talk is NOT listed on this screen. This icon only shows up on contacts who are online on Google Talk, so I assume that the 2.2 update has somehow broken the Talk shortcut in the phonebook?

I clicked some of activities listed, and most would do nothing/just open normally, apart from when I chose "People" and came across a dialer screen that I've never seen before:
It's listed under "People com.android.htcdialer" and looks quite nice but I haven't figured out a way to access it apart from navigating through the Google Talk error! Has anyone else seen this screen?
I just got the OTA Froyo update for my HTC Incredible on Verizon. Now when i go in to the People application and touch the icon next to a person's name, the menu comes up with two "phones" on it, one to make a call, and one where gtalk used to be. When i touch the second phone, it brings up a list of crazy apps to associate it with. Most of the apps to associate are not actually anything.
Has anyone esle experienced this? I'm not rooted (yet) and to be honest im growing tired of the junky HTC apps on this thing. I'd love to just have the android contacts manager because i think it'll interface better than the htc ones.
Alright guys, please bear with me as I'm new to the Droid, Android, and GPS capability in my phone. I downloaded Beautiful Widgets (totally awesome, by the way) and I just want to confirm how the GPS toggle widget works since it seems to just be a shortcut to a setting in the OS as opposed to the wifi and Bluetooth toggle widgets which do their own thing. When you tap the GPS toggle widget it, it takes you the "location & security settings" part of the OS settings. I'm assuming that at this point you either check/uncheck the "Use GPS satellites" to turn on/off the GPS chip in this phone? Can I leave it unchecked and just before I need to get some directions or navigation, turn it back on? What I'm getting at is: Can I turn it on and off according my need for it at any given moment?

One thing I would like to do is create a on-click shortcut to search for nearby hardware stores (I'm a contractor and sometimes need to pickup task-specific materials). I could swear there used to be a shortcut available called "Direct Search" or something like that, that would do just what I'm looking for, but I don't see it when I try to add a shortcut to the home screen. Did this used to exist, or was it just my imagination? Is there anything like it now? I know I could make a bookmark in the browser and place a shortcut to the bookmark on the home screen, but I was hoping for the results to come up in Google Maps.

When I use the messaging and people widget the contact pictures don't show but under my contact list it shows the pictures. So im wondering if you guys have any solutions. Also under the social networking logo widget when I resize it it doesn't show the text, only a blurry picture. So im wondering if you guys have any solutions?
View 7 Replies View Relatedall my contacts are google contacts with several linked to Facebook accounts.When I access my contacts through the People widget, all's good, I only see the google contacts (I've deselected Facebookers in the view menu). However when I access the Messages widget all my contacts are doubled up for some reason. I realise this list is also showing facebook contacts as well as google contacts but even the non-facebook contacts are doubled up.

anyone know of a way to torrent directly to your phone?
I have people listed in my contacts with ocupations like "Doctor", "Dentist", etc, under "Job Title" and contact listed as working for "State Farm", "Hooters", etc under Organization.
No matter what I do, the phone will not locate these people if I use people search, or just the regular search when using those parameters.
Had my phone two days and I've already managed to screw it up. Gmail through the browser works fine. Notifications of new mail work fine; I can pull down the notifications bar up top, click on the mail note, and read/mark everything fine from there. But I'm screwed once I exit that. See, I can't just access gmail directly through the app. If I click on it, I get a black screen saying "your mail will appear shortly" and a note in the bar up top saying "waiting for sync". Just cleared Gmail data.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'd like to snap a photo on the Eris and upload to Facebook with a comment. It seems the built-in app that came with the Eris doesn't allow comments to be posted. I tried Bloo, which does allow comments, but the photos don't appear in Facebook until I go to my page and approve the photos. Am I missing a way to comment with the built-in app, or a way to have the photos appear without special approval with Bloo? Or is there a better app for this.

I keep a shortcut to the Calendar on my home screen. With 1.5 I was always annoyed that the shortcut had a 28 (or somesuch) date on it. I really wanted it to be dynamic so the shortcut always had the correct date. On Sunday when I got my 2.1 upgrade, I was so happy to see that the calendar shortcut had the correct date, the 15th. I was bummed to find out that it was a concidence. The correct date was only displayed because it happend to be be the 15th. Today, on the 17th, it still says 15 on my shortcut.

I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. I also responded to another post in a different phone forum about the missing Phone "Favorites" sub-feature in 2.1. Anyone know where that is? You can add a contact from your recently called list to your "Favorites" by hard pressing the contact name, but there's no associated Favorites app to go along with it.

I used to be able to upload a mobile pic directly to Facebook and it would show on my wall/in my friends' feeds. Lately, my pics go directly to my "Mobile Pics" album, and do not show on my wall unless I publish the entire album again. I've checked my Facebook settings, and everything is set to 'Publish Content to my Wall", but my mobile pics continue to get uploaded directly to the album and do not publish. Anyone else having trouble with this? I'm not sure if it's a problem with the phone, the FB app, or my Facebook settings.
