I have had my Eris for a few weeks and have come across one really annoying problem...evertime I reboot the phone several of my third party apps rename themselves and the icon mutates into something else. The only way to fix is to uninstall/reinstall, but as soon as I reboot it does it all over again. The apps I have problems with:

Layar

I see trident posted a sticky last night, yesterday I lost 3g at work that is 500 yards from a tower so I know it was not signal loss and the only way I could get it back was to do a factory reset but this has happened to me a couple of handfull of times. Never once had a problem on 1.5.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I reboot my eris, ATK shows me running at around 98-107 RAM memory, but after a while it seems to go lower. It falls like 10mb per day. It's day three since reboot and I'm at 71 with no apps running. My regular use is mainly web browning, txts, and calls. Do we have to reboot these devices all the time or am I missing something.

1. The application Flexilis Mobile Security (process com.lookout) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
2.The application Google Maps (process com.google.android.apps.maps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
3. The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.Also when I try to open "settings" I get an error message for that as well as "phone".also do not have service! I think I killed my android!
Anyone else having problems with error messages when they install apps? I was in the habit of installing multiple applications from the market before rebooting, but started having problems with the phone not working and getting other error messages so I now try to reboot after each install. I just tired to install and run advance task killer (ATK) twice and after each reboot I'd get at least 2-3 errors. If I uninstall it and reboot all seems to be ok. Same happened with Bloo and an AK-47 app (game).

However it has been stuck in reboot mode since then, going from HTC to Verizon screens over and over. I've removed the battery twice, and let it sit, and nothing. Still stuck. It was not charging and I do not have it rooted. It just plain crashed.

But now the phone is randomly stuck in headphone mode. I have searched the forum and the only fix people have mentioned is rebooting and taking out the battery... That doesn't work for me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried AutoLock and LockBot and maybe I didn't set an option correctly, but I can't seem to get a password or pattern unlock after a reboot/power off/on cycle.Both work fine during normal power on operations, but when I power cycle the phone it just comes up with the normal swipe unlock right into an open Eris with no password/pattern required. Kind of defeats the purpose by allow a bypass of the security.Maybe I'm missing something here or having a Homer moment.

The issue:
When I have to restart my phone, all apps stop responding, including phone, google apps, everything. I can't make calls, I don't have a signal, nothing works really. The solution: uninstall recently installed applications, and that fixes it.
However, I wonder if there is something else going on causing this. The reason: Yesterday I installed Backgrounds (a popular 4-5 star application from Android Market). I had to reboot my phone (locked up), when I did, nothing was responding, got messages like acore, gapps, and other apps stopped unexpectedly. I removed Backgrounds, restarted again, and everything worked. My wife uses Backgrounds, but her phone doesn't stop working when she has to restart. Why is this happening on my phone? Is there another app causing interference?

I like how my Eris has default buttons to quickly switch on Wifi and Bluetooth, is there an option to do the same for GPS Satellites? i hate going through the settings menu to turn it on or off. I think i've seen pictures of peoples setups where they have this and airplane mode as quick on/off buttons but i can't seem to find it.

Yeah, so my wife's Eris has had a weird glitch since she got it in January. Before any suggestions, we've tried factory wipe, Settings > Applications and making sure it's the default action, but still no go.
Her messaging icon on the home screen launches other random programs at will. Sometimes it's the last used program, other times it's just completely random apps. I've searched for answers but no dice. Any suggestions? We've also tried recreating a new icon for the screen, and it does the same thing.
*edit* she did have Advanced Task Killer & Advanced Task Manager installed for a time, but has since removed them. I thought maybe it was an app, but she says it has done it since she unpackaged it from the box.
I got my Eris 2 days ago. I updated to 2.1 yesterday, using the update function. I notice there is a new notification? icon in the top bar. It never appeared before the update. I looked through the manual both for 1.5 and 2.1 and it is not listed. It looks like an over the ear earpiece facing to the right, with an arc next to it like the satellite icon has when it is connected.

I installed handcent on my eris today and do not have the microphone icon available on the quick reply screen. Any ideas how I can get it to work? Is this available on the eris?

The only way i can get the GPS status bar icon to not be there is to restart the phone. I can kill all running apps, kill all running services, and put it in airplane mode and it continues to sit there and blink the little green lines for hours.
