Lost my Eris today on a golf course, not cool. Only by the power of Zeus' beard was it found, and now I'm on a mission to install one of the many apps I have seen in the market for help in either finding your eris or locking it so no one else can use it. SO, What apps would you recommend? Which work the best, etc.

If I had a nickle each time I tried to open the notifications on the top of the screen, but ended up moving the clock, we'd all have a handful of nickles. Is there any way to "lock the items" on the screen so that they will not move unless you really want them to?
View 6 Replies View Relatedtoday, as I was setting up my phone, the screen stopped locking when I push on the red button (on the right). this is usually how I lock my phone before putting it in my pocket but now it doesn't work. Is there a setting that can control this or is it a glitch?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo my End Call button no longer locks the phone today. I always hit it because I am trying to squeeze all I can from the battery. I did install the Not Call Log app because I wanted the button to return to Home instead of the default, but I did uninstall it. If I long press the button, it still brings up the menu to Power Off, Airplane mode, etc. It just does not quick lock the phone, which I really like.
More info: The end call button does re-lock the phone (turn off the screen) when it is already locked, but still does nothing when I am sitting on the Home screen (when I really want to lock the thing).
What is the best way to share a file between two "writer" services in the same application. I have a Service that saves entries into a buffer. When the buffer gets full it writes all the entries to the file (and so on). Another Service running will come at some point and read the file (essentially copy/compress it) and then empty it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt looks about 99% certain that my Eris is gone. I'm still holding out a little hope that I'll find it around the house. I thought I was carrying it and the charger in my hand along with my work jacket yesterday morning. When I got to work, I couldn't find either in the car so I thought that maybe I forget to pick it up. Got home and couldn't find it or the charger. When I pulled the car out of my yard's parking spot (it's on grass) later in the day, I saw the charger laying there. However, I didn't see the phone. Since it would be weird for someone to have taken the phone but not the charger laying right next to it, I'm holding out a 1% chance that it's still around the house. However, I haven't been able to find it at all.Anyway, I've put it on suspension right now (the in-store rep says that I can bring any phone back on line to replace it if I get a different phone through eBay or other source). So at least I've got any opportunist locked out of the phone.Here's my question - I don't have the funds to pay $150 - 200 for a "new" Eris on eBay. So, if you were me, what would you consider to be the best cheap smartphone alternative that I can pick up for less than $100 on the open market? (preferably more like $50 <g>). I'd just get a cellphone to tide me over but since I'm having to pay for the data plan, I might as well get something with a browser.Any suggestions? Anyone have something lying around that they aren't using? Yeah, yeah, I know.

View 30 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.
I lost most of my contacts with the OTA 2.1 upgrade. Some have resynced from Facebook and Gmail, but a great deal of them are still missing including numbers I didnt have synced to FB or Gmail. The numbers are still associated with text messages in messaging app and Handcent, but all contact info has been lost on most of them. Is there any way to get my lost contacts back or are they gone forever?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I had I think a free version or something of Visual voicemail before on myBB. Of course thatjust transferred over to my Eris when I got it last Dec. But, that voicemail service would alway send texts when I recieved a new VM and it got annoying so I turned off the notifications. When I did, I just stored the voicemails # to dial in my contacts. Unfortunately I must have done it as a phone contact rather than google because when I reset my phone the number was gone. therefore I have no way of checking my voicemail... any ideas?

All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Is there any way for me to regain those contacts without having to re-enter every one of them all over again, or possibly without having to go to Verizon for them to import my contacts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo all of the sudden my phone starts messin up on me, i go to my albums and see that i only have 20 pictures out of the 313 i had previously on the phone it would sometimes come up with all the original photos and everything in the album but now it's like just gone. How can i get them back? I put it as a disk drive to try and look for it but when i go into DCIM there's only like 10 files in there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo last night I lost my end/power key function. The phone would not sleep when I hit the key, i would have to wait till it went on standby by itself. I tried some other things and realized that it was a software issue. I can hang up calles and I can bring it out of standby. it would go back into standby by hitting the key as long as I didnt unlock it. So I reinstalled 2.1. Well I got my end/power function back, but now my HTC clock/weather widget just says My Location. when I try to manually enter a city its not found. some major ones are listed but not many are not. GPS is on. Any ideas?

View 14 Replies View RelatedNew to Eris and have set up Wifi to connect to home router (Verizon FIOS Actiontec). Successfully connected (accepted WEP) but get very weak signal and then lose connection. I've turned off "Mobile Network" but still have this problem. I am one room away from router and receive full signal on iMac and printer but only a dot under the Wifi symbol on the Eris. Exchanged a Motorola Droid (which received and held full signal -- as did my prior iPhone)) for Eris. VZW tech support clueless and immediately sent me to HTC support. While they tried (had some not very good explanations -- battery not pushing enough power) still nothing working. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated -- this is the only downside right now.

Does wavesecure not work if it's uncharged? Anyway, I'm still on contract, but no insurance. Is there any way to still somehow locate my phone using wavesecure?

I know people are saying the new facebook is stuck on contact syncing and draining the battery, but it cant be draining it this much. Today when I was at work is where I noticed it the most. I started at 1 and when my group took a break at 2:42 I had lost 65% battery life!

I messed with it for a few mins and decided i didn't like it so i uninstalled it. When i pushed the home button a menu pushed up that said something along the lines of "Home or Sence" (or something like that) and i chose sence because i was curious. Now my home screen is completely different and lost my custom scene.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a huawei honor device and by mistake while I was formating my laptop to windows xp through the cd booting. My device was USB connected and I deleted the SD card and phone memory by mistake.
Know, I can see only the SD card memory, but can't see the internal memory for device.
The device normally has a 4GB internal memory, 2GB are for the software and the remaining 2GB for usage.
I'd tried downloading new rom, but still the same problem! Need retrieving the lost 2GB memory ?
I'm developing an App that sends keep-alive packets to its server to ensure the connection is still alive.
The server is java based and thus easily to run. I run the server on a virtual machine (Windows 7). After my App is connected and the first keep-alive packet is received (it displays a message in its console output) I disable the network interface in Windows. This step is very important because by disabling it, there is no way to send any packet back to the client informing it about network changes.
The clients are configured to send every 25 seconds a keep-alive packet, so you don't need to wait long.
When you use the sample JavaClient on Windows 7 it takes less than a minute after the keep-Alive packet and an exception is thrown which triggers reconnection (which currently can't occur). This is the expected behaviour.
When you use the sample Android App on an emulator (tested Android version 2 and 4) it is the same behaviour. So in less than a minute after the keep-alive packet it recognises that the connection is dead, throws an exception, this triggers reconnection.
Problem is now when this App runs on a real device (tested several, Xpearia Arc S, one Cyanogen Mod 4 on Galaxy S3 and my Galaxy S3). I've waited 5 minutes, but there was no exception. This behaviour is reproducable.
Since this is a sample App, it uses no wakelock or service, so to test it is important to have it in foreground all the time (don't switch to other Apps or homescreen) and increase your display timeout to a few minutes to ensure that it doesn't go off. Use Logcat-Output to get informed whats happening, because there is no output in the App itself.
Now Sample-Code is in the attachement. Something had gone wrong. The Code consists of 3 Eclipse projects which you can easily import.
Currently a team of developers is working on Android application and during the development process testers already have to test the current state and report issues.
So far I have simply installed the application by connecting the tester's device on my pc and hit run in the IDE. This way we waste a lot of time if an application has to be installed on multiple devices multiple times daily.
What I would like is to send the testing team the .apk file and let them install and run the application by themselves.
Does anyone know what's the best way to do it?
