Is there an app for the droid eris that allows one to point the camera at a landscape and have identifying information about the various features such as mountains, etc., appear as an overlay?

I found that android 3.0 is gingerbread, what are the new features in gingerbread and when it is going to be launched. And also i need information about the official release date of Honeycomb.

I disabled it, and the phone performs the way it should. Fast, no lag anywhere. Stable. I am sad. To get a good phone, I have to turn it into a Droid? So is there a comprehensive list of the Sense features?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI woke up after a nap this afternoon (you know, after coloring but before recess ) ... and i had received a text and i went to reply and my auto correct didnt know the word 'you' 'eat' and a few others and i am sure there are many more i will find. i do not know how to fix it. i guess i will just have to work through it and add the words it doesnt know.
But also if i type 'lol' then by default 'LOL' will come up if i press space unless i manually go up and select 'lol' in the little word list predict thing <--yes, that is the actual HTC given name , this is also the case for many other words and if i add the word to the dictionary it still might not use it automatically. even if i spell it right and it is in the list it may use another word when i press space.
Is there a way to store a point on Google Maps on the Eris? I would like to hike off in the boonies and use it to guide me back to where we are parked.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I reboot my phone, I first see the 3 androids on skateboards and then it goes to a pic of phone with the red exclamation point in a triangle (same as the failed recovery error). I can pull my battery but that does not help. My phone is useless for at least 30-45 minutes. I have pulled my battery up to 20 consecutive times to fix with no avail.
The variables: This is a refurb phone with 2.1 pre-installed. I have tried to root my phone with the whole timing trick, pull card, insert card. This was done a week or two ago. I do not have that file on my card, nor was my rooting successful. I am thinking that my problem is due to the refurb. My dialer lag is way worse than my previous phone. I can make one phone call every hour or so and I can forget calling someone right back if I missed their call. Does the red triangle/exclamation point show an attempt at rooting?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI had Swype, all was good. Then it started freezing my screen, or misguiding the touch to the point that removing the battery was the only option. It was not a phone issue, because I factory reset and it works now. I had to because disabling Swype did not solve the problem. Is there any beta or anything out there?I CAN'T GO BACK TO TOUCH INPUT!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my eris yesterday (posting with it now), and I am finding typing in landscape quite uncomfortable while headphones are plugged in (i listen to a lot of music). The plug is vertical and doesn't allow me to grip the phone naturally. So, I was wondering if there was a simple way to get the reverse of landscape view. As in the eris's physical buttons would be to the left while typing instead of the right.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my Droid Eris. It was working fine to go back and forth between landscape and upright, until I calibrated the G-sensor. Now I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not sure if I've done the calibration correctly (I assume you just sit it upright on a flat surface?) or what. It will randomly go into landscape mode, but then I can't get it back upright unless I go to the home screen.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSomehow I got my phone to go into a landscape mode home screen, I'm running 2.1 v2 and I've had the phone for almost 5 months and I've never seen this happen, and now I can't make it happen again. Turning it on its side does nothing to the home screen. Has anybody else seen this? The phone was just an icon and everything seemed to look fine, like it was meant to be landscaped.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Droid Eris on leaked 2.1v3 Over the last month or so I've noticed than when I open a text message while holding the phone in landscape the app crashes and has to be forced to close. Also sometimes I notices that the keyboard is a little laggy and the text doesn't show up on the screen until I minimize the keyboard.Has anyone else had these problems or know of a fix?Also on a side note how to I save pictures sent to me in mms to my media card?

Also how do I make the swype keyboard go away when editing a text box? There is a little button on the htc touch keyboard to minimize it but I don't see one on the swype keyboard.
