hi im new to the forum and own a htc desire . i downloaded the sync to pc software but my phone says it can find it on my pc . my pc says that the drivers are ready for use . im not very good at trouble shooting these sort of things .

I had been using HTC Sync successfully to sync my calendar items and haven't used it for a week or two and now all of a sudden when I connect my phone via usb to my laptop, its searching for ages and then comes up with "unable to find HTC Sync on your PC". HTC Sync is def open and installed on my laptop. Any advice on what it could be? I've powercycled the phone and laptop. changed the usb port can't think of anything else.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't sync between my PC, Vista 32 bit, and my Eris. I can mount the SD card and transfer pictures, etc. I have enabled USB Debugging. I have installed/re-installed HTC sync several times. I have disabled my virus software.I get the HTC Sync notification when I plug in the Eris, but when I tap it to start connecting, nothing. The PC bleeps at me as if it has recognized a new device, but the Eris never finds the HTC sync software (yes it is open). It finally reports that it can't find HTC Sync on the PC.The first time, Windows installed several device drivers, including the HTC driver. "My HTC" driver is visible in the Device Manager and reports it is working properly. This last time, I got a Windows Error stating the HTCVBTServer module had stopped working.I can't find any information on this.

The notification then pops up on my phone asking which connection type (charge/sync/disk drive), i choose HTC Sync and press 'done'. A window then pops up on the phone screen saying 'unable to find HTC sync on your PC. Please make sure HTC sync is installed and opened on your computer...' HTC sync IS installed and open, i have downloaded it today off the HTC website.

I uninstalled sync from the computer, and reinstalled it, even tried a hard reset on my phone, still no go.
Any ideas? Or am I just an idiot and doing something wrong?

View 6 Replies View RelatedOk so I have converted movie from mkv to mp4 using handbreak and placed it in new folder, connected Desire to PC using HTC Sync, added this folder so it syncs with phone, press Sync Now. But after sync I still haven't uploaded anything to phone. It's looks like it syncs everything to pc but I cant sync to phone. Why so? How to get movie to phone?

However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs.Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. Please correct me if I am wrong:From what I think I see my contacts are on my internet googlemail account only and my phone is connecting to the internet to get them.But that is not I would want. I would want my contacts being synced between my phone (which is not necessarily connected to the internet all the time) and my internet google-mail account.Now, is there a way to bring those contacts on my phone (using the on board tools) so I can use them "offline" or am I misunderstanding the menu and the contacts are already "offline" on my phone marked as "Google" contacts?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have read the search results, but just a simple question.When you sync items, phone/pda/pc etc, you get the oppertunity to choose which item takes priority if say mobile phone number has been changed in two devices.How does this work between google and my phone.I don't want to spend ages today getting my contacts just right on google via my pc to find they all go wonky when it syncs later on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using an HTC Desire on Froyo and version 3.0.5422 of HTC Sync. It all installed fine, I connected by USB, and selected HTC Sync as the connection on my phone. Then I went to sync an iTunes playlist onto my 32gb Kingston SD Card. It started then an 'Unknown Error' occurred. My SD Card was then unmounted in the phone, with a notification at the top. I rebooted the phone, and it was still unmounted. So I popped the cover, took out battery and card and tried again.

What is the easiest way to troubleshoot the Exchange Active Sync configuration on a HTC Desire? I cannot get it to work though I am using all the settings that our IT department has given me. The setup keeps saying, check your Exchange account settings. I am not even able to connect to the mail server. I am using Wi-Fi and I have a network connection so there is no problem with that part. Can I get a trace or similar that shows if there is the credentials that are not working or what is the causing the problem?

The dialogue box that appears when I do this shows the date in MM-DD-YYYY format. I've checked all the settings that I can find, and I'm sure they're all set to UK/British. Am I missing something, or is it not possible to change this?

If I delete from the device it sometimes does not remove them from my outlook and viceversa. Has anyone else got this phone connected to an exchange 2003 server SP2 ? Also has anyone managed to get any other folders to sync other than the inbox ?

My desire is not detecting my computer when I connect the USB, I connect it and it begins charging instead of asking me about the connection type. As I was puzzled and thought this was very strange, I checked the "connect to PC" settings only to find out the "ask me" option was indeed enabled . When I connect the USB to the computer it begins charging and displays "USB" on battery status, but it does not actually detect the computer, nor does the computer detect the phone (even when I change the default connection type to "disk drive" it continues on charge mode). Has anyone any clue as to what is wrong with my desire? I am very confused because as I said, I select the "ask me" option but it does not "ask me", I really want to fix this as it means I cannot sync music onto it, any ideas?

Find my old phone - copy the contacts to my desire sim - put the sim back in desire - sync with googlemail - adapt EVERY name because they changed to surname 1st - then delete some of the duplicated numbers - save - sync back to phone? Now i have done this do I need to Import to SD - Import from SD - Export to SD - or do nothing, I dont want to end up with bloody duplicates/lost numbers again.

Dont know why it didnt work when it said it was syncing before. maybe it didnt like the number of contacts involved and only wanted to do it on its own 3 hours after i asked. I am unable to get all my gmail contacts onto my desire. I have a gmail account setup on the phone, syncing is set to automatic and the gmail account has all options ticked for syncing. Even after i run a manual sync it does not retrieve all my gmail contacts (people is completely empty, and 'view' is set to only show gmail contacts)I know its possible because i had them on there before. I removed them from the phone as there were lots of duplicates after merging with my phones contacts. These duplicates all got sent up to gmail and so i removed everything from the phone in order to tidy it all up on gmail with the intention of then re-importing them from gmail. But it will not get anythying from gmail now.

However, nothing happen when I manually sync. The icon rotating indicated that sync was in process. Afterward, I checked on my gmail's contacts, nothing change. No contact has phone number. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.

I've manually synced them on the phone and refreshed the web page to no avail.I created one much earlier on (maybe even yesterday) and it's there.If I create a new contact on the web it appears almost immediately on the phone.

Problem is, I can't find them in the options... If I go to the Facebook app, I see them, but when I go to the Google contact to try to link it, they aren't there. I've done some searches and it seems like they are supposed to just pop up randomly. It's been almost a week and that hasn't happened yet.

Gmail settings doesn't have anything by that name.I have enabled the IMAP and turned of POP3 to get push emails, but its a bit glitchy.So i was looking for Google Sync to see if i had missed out on anything.
