I'm selling it, I want to be certain that it is at factory default. Now I know there's a "reset to factory" option, but previous phones I've had that often only just dealt with setting and left files or other data on the phone. They were essentially "soft resets". I also obviously want to completely disassociate any logins with this phone. So! Is there a way to do this, to completely wipe it clean?

So using Rom manager I went ffrom baked snack 1.7 to 1.8 I wiped data and cleared SD cache and I lost everything all my apps. I rid back up 1.7 so is there any way i can get my apps back cuz I don't want to download.them again

Well I have evidently rebooted and wiped the usr data and done a factory reset. However it says I'm still rooted. It seems like I'm half rooted. How do I get this baby back to fully rooted.
View 21 Replies View RelatedWell since I've got into installing custom ROMs its nice, but I hate wiping data/cache. I've gone from Nexbeast 1.1 to Nexfro .4 without a wipe. No complaints but when I drop my phone it immediately reboots. When I open it and click stuff to fast it will reboot and sometimes for no reason at all. Is this because of me not wiping data or just sucky phone? Using stock kernel. When going to CM6 should I wipe data?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would have thought that a firmware update via Kies would preserve user data, contacts, apps I paid for from the market, phone settings etc. But after going from I9000DXJF4 to I9000DXJG4 using that appalling excuse for software (Kies) I have a completely empty device with just stock standard apps. No warnings to click through about wiping data, no strange error messages on the device. Is this normal? If so I might as well put my SIM card back in my iPhone until there is a consensus build of Froyo out for the Galaxy S as re-downloading and resyncing everything each time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy "phone contacts" have simply been wiped out all of a sudden. My Google, SIM and Facebook contacts are there but all 97 of my phone contacts are simply gone! It now shows phone (0). I thought I could sync back from Google but it appears all along they weren't even being synced even though my Google contacts sync was turned on, so I'm still left with nothing.This is one of the most frustrating and ridiculous problems I've ever encountered on any phone. I rely almost entirely on my phone contacts, and I sure as hell do not want to start copying from my SIM all over again because I'd have to filter out so many unused contacts.

The plan I intend on signing up for is the Telus Student 40 and that will come with only 100mb of data. Now I don't see myself being too data using heavy so I feel like I will be able to live with it. However I do have some questions regarding my data consumption.
1. Is it possible to completely stop all data usage by somehow disabling the data connection if I find myself reaching my limit?
2. What are ways to track my data usage to make sure I don't use too much data?
3. What are good ways to conserve data usage? I'm getting the feeling that there are some applications that will constantly be sending data back and forth updating themselves, is it possible to have these applications but stop them from constantly updating and only have them update when I want to access the application?.........
If "always on mobile data" is disabled, will this have any affect on programs that are set to auto sync with back ground data enabled(Face book, twitter etc)? I'm trying to work it out but lots of people say different things?

Tablet is a GT-P7500 Samsung Galaxy 10.1...Was going to be installing a new ROM on my tablet, problem is I though I had transferred the files onto the old tablet, but I had accidentally transferred them to my new tablet. So I opened up CWM and wiped everything. Then went to install from zip and the files weren't there. So I cant boot back into android to transfer the files. I can't boot into adt either and sammobile new hosting site terafile wont allow me to download any of the original files to flash with odin as it keeps coming up with Wrong IP.
Currently it loads to the splash screen showing Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and sits there.Any links to a ROM I can flash through ODIN. Or a way to transfer files onto a dead tab?
I did a full wipe of my phone to see If I ccan get rid of cyanogen mod. Now I have no sdcard folder. and I'm stuck in the TWRP menu. Is their anyway of getting my phone back? I have AT&T. View 3 Replies View RelatedI wiped the internal storage on my htc one on accident while trying to wipe the dalvik cache on twrp. Now when I turn on my phone it gets stuck on the splash screen. I hold down the volume button when turning it on and it goes to hboot where I am able to navigate to fastboot and my twrp recovery. Besides those two things all data on my phone is completely gone the storage only has about 16 megabytes on it now. In the cmd prompt typing in adb comes up with device not found and adb device shows an empty list.
Fastboot devices in cmd however dpes find my phone which is odd. Updating my drives doesn't work and the mtp driver can not install for some reason. So I can not use adb to push or sideload anything. I could use twrp to sideload something maybe if I could somehow get something onto my phone. RUU won't work because I never turned my s-off and since I am now at this stage I don't know of anyway I can turn my s-off. how I could get my adb to find my device(updating drivers doesn't work). I've unlocked and relocked bootloader so many times for different things. Basically there is no os on my phone. I can not use adb to put a rom on my phone. I only have access to boot fast boot usb and twrp recovery.
Few days ago I was wiping my phone to install another rom and besides wiping data and cache, I also made the huge mistake of wiping SYSTEM... My phone now just boots into recovery and nothing else.
I have an Efox Smart e4, equals to no.1 s6 and hdc galaxy s4 according to other posts here. MTK 6589, 1gb internal, 1,84gb internal sd.
The first custom rom that i installed was Essefour no.1 s6 by iceman and also the touch recovery. The rom performed great but I wanted to solve the issue that the phone kept switching between sd external and internal randomly. Also, I wanted to merge the internal memory with the internal sd so I was gonna try another rom. With this problem, was even trying the stock rom but to no avail.
When I try to install the Smart e4 factory rom for cwm and I get status 7.

Other roms it just fails.
Right now, my computer windows 8.1 x64 can't identify correctly my phone, only access the sd. So can't do any adb push. In download mode it identifies as lenovo composite interface?? and cdc serial, the last I can't install. In other modes, I get gt-9500 but with the yellow triangle.

My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.
I loaded a wallpaper into the DCIM folder on the internal memory and after disconnecting from the computer, I changed the home screen wallpaper to this picture. (the one of the predator and alien playing chess).Now all 7 home screens are completely blank. No widgets or icons. Somehow everything on the home screens has been wiped. View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been using android for a while now, and I actually can move smoothly througth the system. But now I want to update for the first time my firmware with a newer custom rom. And I have some doubts:
Usually all customs roms make you do the wipes. What what actually happens with that? I know what those directories have, but I guess the proccess only erases the apps and some configuration, right? Because I think some apps config are stored on the internal storage.
It is recommendable to make a backup of the folders to be wiped and then restore it? If it is, will the overall config be the same as before the rom change?
Ok so I wiped and formatted my SD Card to FAT32. I am in the reboot/recovery screen of my android with ClockworkMod and I noticed when I turned on USB Mass Storage, the SD Card is readable but there is nothing on it now. Is there any important files I am going to need to put on the SD Card for my android to function correctly on start up/running? Or will my android automatically put the correct files on the SD Card on boot? Haven't tried booting it .

When 2.1 is finally released, my Hero will be wiped clean and all apps will need re-installing, do you think, as the free for life wave secure offer will be over, they will want payment next time or is it a simple case of re-installing under the old terms?
