HTC Desire :: Voice To Text For 2.2
Aug 5, 2010I'm really keen to get this working. I've tried installing from several locations. I follow all the steps correctly ( i think!), but every time i tap the text box with the htc mod enabled i get this error message.

Jul 24, 2010Trying to get the 'Voice to text' trick working...Voice search working installed the HTC_IME_hi_25.apk and long held to select the input method. I can see the little mic next to the space bar but...when i press the mic key nothing happens! if i hold too long it goes to settings. Have seen on youtube I should get a 'speak' box come up after i press the mic, but nothing. tried uninstall the HTC_IME_hi_25.apk and voice search, but still not working. Have ticked and unticked boxes in the HTC_IME_hi_25.apk setting ... does it matter?

-Download and install hi-res version.
-Goto keyboard settings and enable HTC_IME.
-Long press on any text entry, select imput method and then select HTC_IME as default.

Aug 3, 2010I had voice to text using a modified keyboard, but it crashes with Froyo. Does anyone know how to make this work again? do I just download another keyboard from the market?

Also when I press and hold the search button for voice, it always takes me to the internet. I can get the navigation software to open by saying navigate to destination. Are there certain words that must be said in order to do things?

During googling i get clues that it has phone capabilities but need to root and install some files in it/ how can we enable voice calling from this tab ? .. i found below links related but not sure its support to E140L or not and if yes then how to root and enable voice calling.

Jan 1, 2010The majority of my contacts have pictures associated with them. When I use Google Voice Search to call a contact (e.g. "Call Wendy Home" [my wife]), the contact is found and the number is dialed successfully, but the picture doesn't show on the screen (just the android image). However, if I look her up in contacts and make the call, or receive a call from her number, the contact image is displayed. Is there a setting that needs to be made to enable the contact picture when using voice search?

There's been apps like Groove IP that are already able to provide this feature. I'd just like to have this functionality without having to install any 3rd party apps that always have to be running in the background. Google Hangouts is already the primary sms app for Android & so it is already able to receive texts, mms, along with video and voice chats. Thus, it should be somewhat possible to receive call forwarding from Google voice.

Aug 1, 2010I have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

May 10, 2010I've had my Desire for about a week end enjoyed pinch to zoom in many applications over the first few days. Somehow the feature was disabled or removed and I struggle to enable it again. Other threads mentioned an update followed by a reboot. I'm not aware of any OS updates and I've done several reboots without any change to the issue. Also, these threads seemed to be US related and about other and slightly older phones.

I want to know if I can extract the text result on the list view and use it as a String further on? The part of code I am refering to is below where mList is defined as ListView:
