Is there a way I can import all my contacts off my phone into 'Google Contacts' ?
and is there a way I can take pictures of people and set them as caller ID pictures?

Is there a way to import the facebook contacts stored on my HTC Desire handset to google by utilising the auto-sync feature? I have synced my phone with facebook and now want to transfer the email addresses and birthdays of my facebook friends to google contacts. I understand from reading posts on other forums that there are a few ways to do this, such as manually importing and exporting csv files (Sync/merge Facebook contacts with Gmail contacts - Gmail Help) or by way of a script (Import your Facebook Phonebook into your Google Contacts using Greasemonkey on Firefox), but this will require a manual update whenever I have a new facebook contact. Seeing that my phone could auto-sync with both FB and Google, is there a way to automatically transfer new FB contacts to google whenever I hit the "Sync" button on my phone?

Well my contact list has an entry for every person I've ever sent an email to - I literally have thousands of entries in my contact list. Can I fix this to only import my phone contacts? Ideally I'd like to sync my iPhone with gmail, then import just the contacts I had on my phone.

Dont know why it didnt work when it said it was syncing before. maybe it didnt like the number of contacts involved and only wanted to do it on its own 3 hours after i asked. I am unable to get all my gmail contacts onto my desire. I have a gmail account setup on the phone, syncing is set to automatic and the gmail account has all options ticked for syncing. Even after i run a manual sync it does not retrieve all my gmail contacts (people is completely empty, and 'view' is set to only show gmail contacts)I know its possible because i had them on there before. I removed them from the phone as there were lots of duplicates after merging with my phones contacts. These duplicates all got sent up to gmail and so i removed everything from the phone in order to tidy it all up on gmail with the intention of then re-importing them from gmail. But it will not get anythying from gmail now.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIve not found any specific in depth instructions with my phone so here goes my question...I have managed to sync al my email gmail facebook and phone contacts to my handset, I want to put my contacts (mainly phone numbers) into groups so its easier to group SMS people etc, when i try to add contacts to a group it only seems to come up with my Gmail added Email addresses, i have gone into the relevant menu and selected display phone contacts only (or something similar) and re tried but still i am getting just my Gmail addresses as the only option to add to groups. Any help would be greatly appreciated and im sorry if its blurringly obvious!

But when i am importing it is giving me error the import can't be resolved. I tried those above imports for the following targets 1.1, 1.5, Google api, 1.6.Google api, 2.0, Google api, 2.0.1,Google api, 2.1, Google api No where the above imports found I am unable to import above things.
When I switched to the Samsung Fascinate from a previous non-smart phone, I transferred all of my contacts from the phone over. I think in the setup somewhere I chose to convert my contacts to Google contacts. That was really confusing at first, because I didn't know what it did, and didn't even remember I had done that until recently. I'd like to get the contacts back to phone contacts (not Google contacts) for multiple reasons, which I won't bother listing for now. So, does anyone know how to UN-convert or re-convert Google contacts back into phone contacts? I really don't want to have to recreate all of the phone contacts, because I've got a LOT of them. I would remove my Google account from the phone, but I worry that would remove all of my contacts completely, which wouldn't help me.

I don't want to do the .csv backup and all that just sync all Phone and Google contacts to Google. The reason is because when Verizon transfers your numbers, they get saved as Phone contacts but from what I understand,the update only re-syncs your Google contacts.So is there a quick/easy way to do this?She is not very tech-savvy.I just want to make sure she does this before she upgrades,so she doesn't lose all of her phone numbers.

I'd like to:
1. Disable contact sync (this works)
2. Change all contacts from Google contacts to phone contacts
3. Add new contacts as phone contacts by default.
Using the "Accounts and Sync" settings, I'm only able to deselect "Sync Contacts", but I can't find a way to move the contacts and disable the creation of new Google contacts.
how google accounts work. I got a phone previously owned by a family member and all his contacts are still in the phone. I was wondering if it is possible to delete all the contacts on the phone but not affect his google account contacts? Also, if i reformat the phone, will this delete all his google contacts?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a HTC hero (Orange). With talks of android updates becoming available, there seems to be a mad rush to back up everything so that nothing is lost on the update. There are many ways of doing this, but one of the most common problems, is that people have their contacts saved as 'Phone' contacts and not 'Google' contacts. This means that they will not sync with Google mail. There was no contact export available to me (I think because my firmware was still 1.5).
This seems to be a solution that will solve the problem without having to write out every single contact number in Google mail.
1. Enter android market.
2. Search 'Contact sync'
3. Download/Install this application.
4. Run the application
5. All contacts will be turned from 'Phone' contacts to 'Google' Contacts
6. These contacts will then be synchronized with your Google mail
This means that if your contacts are lost on your phone at any point (eg. an update), they can easily be 'Exported' back to your phone through Google mail.
There are 1000 people trying to get their phone contacts to become google contacts, but i want my google contacts to become phone contacts so i can get them to sync to my windows contacts.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a T-Mobile G2 Touch.Which I now also believe is known as the HTC Hero.Unfortunately my existing Contacts are not being picked up from the Sim card. In this phone it is reading as zero. In any other phone 100+.The only work around that I can think of is to upgrade my Outlook client, export to a CSV file, import into Google mail, sync across and then import into the People folder.

All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Later I found out myfaves is sending these costly messages, I wanted to turn off myfaves and I followed the following steps: 1. I downgraded my phone from RC33 to RC29 and rooted the phone 2. As I read that all RC3X versions have myfaves, installed JFv1.43_Holiday.zip using the standard procedure (update.zip on SD card, Home+Power, ALT+L, ALT+S, etc) 3. Now I see that myfaves is turned off (no new messages sent), but when I try to import contacts from Vodafone SIM card, the phone crashes with message " The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly, Please try again"

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my hero about a week ago and since then I'm still trying to import my contacts from outlook, but no picture imported although in outlook they appear with picture. All my contacts with picture in outlook were backed up from my old iphone. I tried to synchronize my hero with those contacts, but no picture. After that i tried to export contacts from outlook in a *.vcf file, uploaded them into google contacts, but still no picture. Also another problem: i deleted all my contacts in google and then synchronized my phone with it, but instead of downloading them from the hero, it appears that google overwrites the phone contacts. Is there any way to overwrite google contacts with the phone ones? Or at least merge them?

I can't find import/export addresses. The VZW guy told me to send contacts to sd and import them... can't find any way to do that on the X.
