Motorola Droid X :: Import / Export Contacts To Sd Card
Aug 23, 2010
I'm trying to get my google contacts not only to show up in my phone's google address book but my phone's address book, so I can use VZW backup asst, which only backs up from your phone's address book. I can't find import/export addresses. The VZW guy told me to send contacts to sd and import them... can't find any way to do that on the X.

Is there any way like you can import and export contacts, do it with bookmarks, so when you master reset you don't have to visit each site and bookmark them again?

How to:
1)Import and export contacts from/to SIM and SD card? How can I access SIM card directory or something like that?
2)Send contact by SMS?
3)Open activity for SMS typing and set some contacts as targets?
4)List accounts when I create new group or contact? Do "features" of account authenticator include "creating android contact with this account type"?
Comments for everything: I know, I should explore some Google apps (and I even downloaded their sources), but my customer wants this functions just now, so I almost have no time.
Comment for 2 and 3: it would be enough to list all available extras for sms intent.
Comment for 4: the main question is, how to include phone account. As I understood, for every company it's unique: one for HTC, one for Samsung and so on. How can I find suitable account type and name for any phone?

I have just bought a T-Mobile G2 Touch.Which I now also believe is known as the HTC Hero.Unfortunately my existing Contacts are not being picked up from the Sim card. In this phone it is reading as zero. In any other phone 100+.The only work around that I can think of is to upgrade my Outlook client, export to a CSV file, import into Google mail, sync across and then import into the People folder.

I would need to export the shared preferences and load it on another device. Is this possible in a direct way somehow? (without exporting the keys one by one and writing to a custom file) Another question is that there is any XML parser which has the same functionality like SharedPreferences (getstring/addstring, getint/ addaddint etc.) and saves/loads the result to a path anywhere? (sdcard for example) I know SharedPreferences uses some xml's in the background but that xml is not readable as a file without admin rights as far as I know so it's not quite suitable for what I need.

I tire of having to re-download and re-configure all of my apps every time I switch to a new ROM. Is there a way I can export and import my apps and app settings so I don't have to do this every time?

I bought unlocked T-mobile G1 phone in US, when I returned to Netherlands with my Vodafone, and the phone repeatedly sends international costing 10 Euros a day. Later I found out myfaves is sending these costly messages, I wanted to turn off myfaves and I followed the following steps: 1. I downgraded my phone from RC33 to RC29 and rooted the phone 2. As I read that all RC3X versions have myfaves, installed JFv1.43_Holiday.zip using the standard procedure (update.zip on SD card, Home+Power, ALT+L, ALT+S, etc) 3. Now I see that myfaves is turned off (no new messages sent), but when I try to import contacts from Vodafone SIM card, the phone crashes with message " The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly, Please try again"

I has some interesting sync/import/export features. I am curious about it asking for my gmail info. More info about how this works would be great, as it might work as a great way to populate my contact db which is still suffering.

Earlier by Eris just lost all my contacts, all the ones that Verizon transferred over to my Eris. All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Is there any way for me to regain those contacts without having to re-enter every one of them all over again, or possibly without having to go to Verizon for them to import my contacts?

I've had all my Desire Z contacts on the 'Phone' account, and now want to move them to Gmail, so that I can then completely disable the 'Phone' account, and start using the 'Google' account, so that my contacts remain syncronised between Gmail and my Desire Z ..
Now I've managed to export a vCard file from my phone and have imported the contacts into Gmail. The only problem is that contact photos have not been ported over..So how can I export contacts from my phone WITH the pictures as well ?
Or, alternatively, where on my phone filesystem does Android store contact pictures ? I can then bring them to my PC, and manually add them to Gmail contacts quickly ..

I need an app to export text threads to a word or quick office document (for legal issues). I have heard about SMS backup and will be dld'ing tonight to try out, but from what I have read so far it's not quite what I want. there is a certian individual that I have to save all comunications from, so I was hoping to find something where I could just select a thread. If this isn't possible I don't mind exporting all of them and just deleting what I don't need (I don't get that many SMS anyway).

After I got the message with <a href=tel:+4369917343674>Roland Msl</a> to link a telephon number by thml, I make big plans to have my mind2 database on my phone. Usual when I make a phone call, I put this with some remarks in my database. But when I am underway only with my Android, the best possibility would be to have the phone call list exported from the phone to update my database at last with time and duration of calls to perons in my database
So the most important question to orgaise now is: How to export the call list to the SD-card
BTW is there also a navigation link syntax? Maybe something like <a href="nav:A-5082 Gartenau Drachenlochstrasse 1c/5>My home address</a> And when I click on the Link, the navigation software opens with the clicked address as target.

I attempted to import my contacts from my old HTC Touch Pro phone by using an application to export them to a .csv file, then importing them into a gmail account. That part all worked fine. However, when I linked the gmail account and synced up the contact information, there are a couple of problems. First and most important, its not bringing over all of the information. It brought over the contact name, but when you tap on the name, it only shows a gmail link and none of the other information. Second, gmail is using only the first name for the full contact. example: the contact it titled 'George' instead of the person's full name like "Butler, George'. How can I fix these two issues?

Through a couple boneheaded mishaps when moving to one of the 2.1 ROMs, I managed to wipe out all my Outlook contacts I had stored on my company's exchange server.
I won't go into all the details, but it happened when I tried to restore some data I had backed up before upgrading to the new ROM, and I forgot to uncheck "contacts" from the stuff I was restoring. Some process croaked when the restore was done, causing some silliness with my Google contacts, but also wiping out my Exchange contacts on the phone as well as on the server.
The good news is I have a full NAND backup from before I upgraded the ROM, so I can jump back to that to access my contacts. Problem is, I can't get them to sync remotely with the Exchange server. They also won't sync (or "reverse-sync" if that is the correct term) with Outlook when I use the latest version of the HTC Sync software.
So basically, I can't find a way to move the contacts from the phone to the Exchange server. What I want to do is get those contacts from my old NAND backup, move them to Outlook/Exchange, and then have them sync 'naturally' from the Exchange server to my phone, while running the new ROM I have installed.
I'm okay with having to do a NAND backup of what I'm currently running, restore the old backup to extract the contacts somehow, and then restoring the 'new' NAND backup, but I can't figure out how to manually copy the contacts so I can then import them into Outlook.

I'm hoping to get my hands on an X10 soon and want to copy the contacts from my Hero across easily. I can't find an obvious export function. I thought that I could sync the phone contacts to my Google account. However, each time I try that, it comes up with an error message something like "Google Sync is currently experiencing problems", then I get a "Force Close" message.

Running KK and trying to export some contacts using the stock export function in contacts - problem is that the generated vcf is in 2.1 format. This is not good, the export lost some info, such as custom labels of phone numbers.
Then I tried to found an app on the market that does that - not ONE have i found. All of them either do the export in 2.1 format; or they backup on the cloud; or send the contacts by mail; or use proprietary format.I just want to backup my contacts with all the info on my sdcard and be able to restore them.
What's strange is that the stock import contacts knows how to read 3.0 vcards and that I was able to do this thing I'm looking so hard now on my ancient SGS1 running GB.

I synced my work contacts through Exchange activesync. Now they all show up in my contact list (only in "all contacts", when I show "my contacts" it just shows gmail contacts). Is there a way to delete all the exchange contacts only? Or just delete all contacts and re-import them from gmail?I have a Samsung Moment, and the exchange client is Moxier, if that helps anything.
