View 49 RepliesI have a desire from vf uk. it was one of the first ones with no real branding but does not qualify for the 2.2 update. luckily i havent updated to the new vf firmware. my question is, is there an easy way to unlock my handset so i can use htcs own 2.2 update? i no there are plenty of threads on this topic but they always assume people understand all the terms and it becomes confusing! i don't no my hboot from my bootloader or goldcard? it would be great if anyone could point me towards a guide written in plain easy to follow and explaind steps, m no novice to mobile tech but a programmer im not! i cant be the only one. so is there a way to make the phone update ota to htcs own 2.2 froyo?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Orange HTC desire on Orange with Android 2.1. What I would like to do is debrand this phone to the stock HTC Android 2.2 release. HTC Desire 2.2. I am not really bothered about custom ROM's or rooting. I just want to have all the features that the phone should come with, minus the Orange mods.. Is this possible firstly? If it is which guide would you recommend? Can anyone comment on the risk vs reward of doing this? I am technical enough to follow the guide but would like to make sure what I want to achieve is possible..

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new to HTC Desire/Android, and debranding and altering my phones setup. A complete novice! I have unlocked my HTC desire from orange using a code from mobileunlocked.co.uk cost me 22.99 I have upgraded to 2.2 fro yo and am running software number 2.17.61.2 browser 3.1 I'd now like to debrand the phone but do not want to root as i am not into customising my phone that much. I do however want to rid it of the orange start up and the orange widgets and understand enough to know that i don't need/ want the orange excess stuff. I don't want to have to reboot and reflash my phone or find that wifi doesn't work with a custom Rom that might go wrong.
View 20 Replies View RelatedIve recently bought a HTC Desire on orange contract and the phone appears to be debranded and unlocked. There is no evidence of orange applications in the menu and my other vodafone sim works with it too! Is there anyway to work out whether this has the generic HTC unbranded rom or not? And does that mean i will get the Froyo update when HTC release it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire, locked to O2. Bootloader 8.0. Amoled screen (according to the box). I have rooted it using unrevoked3. I have created a gold card. I want to debrand the phone before updating to Froyo. I am currently on 2.1 update 1. I am worried that maybe I'm mixing and matching too much, and could somebody point me in the right direction to debrand the phone and then upgrade to Froyo.
I've read that you can't debrand if you got the OTA update from vodafone today. I got so close to putting an official stock ROM on my Desire (so I could push for the 2.2 update) only for it to fail. The ROM was: RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed Then I read that because my phone had already been updated to this vodafone junk that I have lost the ability to rebrand. Is this true? Can't believe I was so close to getting FroYo. I could cry to Vodafone!

I have a Virgin(Bell) legend and I'm concerned that they won't update the phone since Bell has already dropped it and Virgin my follow suit!
I want to replace all these Orange logos and stuff from my HTC HERO Orange UK phone and anybody know how and what can i do. I have already root my HTC hero and dont know where to go from here? also how can install apps on SD card instead of having on my internal memory?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk I've had this phone for a week now and can't really flaw it - although the battery life sucked at first its now pretty awesome after being used a bit. But anyway, I know this phone has flash support for the net and for apps etc, but is there a way to actually play flash movies on the HTC desire? As I have many and am having to constantly convert them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAttempting to root and upgrade to CyanogenMod-6. I've followed all the steps here, and it appears to be successful according to the Unrevoked software. Now, the guide for Cyanogen is pretty vague, so I've been following this guide too. After Unrevoked states that everything was a success, I have to reboot the phone (hard reboot, pulling the battery out).
When I run Rom Manager, any flashing I do is followed by the reboot, which takes me to the Android splash screen for a second, then either the phone will go entirely black, or I will see the splash screen with a black bar on the top. I can't do anything at this point, and have to hard reset. I've backed up everything, and currently my phone is still fine, even after selecting "Wipe data" etc., in Rom Manager.
I was quite excited to have flash on my mobile devise and as I have an unlimited subscription to Lovefilm I was looking forward to watching the on demand movies for free. But I was disappointed when I was met by the message "does not support this type of flash". Is there an update or an app I can use? Lovefilm uses Flash Player 10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire from Telus in Canada. In the last week or so I have noticed that my LED flash is no longer firing at all. Even when I set it the flash to be on. Is there a setting that I may have set that would disable it? Or is there a way to test if the led flash is still working? I would like to know, the Phone is only a month and a half old.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a unbranded sin free desire running 2.2 with the latest update 2.10.etc , my question is do I need to install flash or is it there already. In application manager it shows it but file size is 0.00kb. Also the version on Market is newer. Should I install this or is there a way to update built in apps??
View 7 Replies View RelatedNow we have 2.2 we should have access to Flash Player 10.1, correct? I can't seem to find it in the market... Searching for "Flash Player" doesn't find it, and com.adobe.flashplayer claims not to exist. Am I being ******ed, or is it not there at the moment?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have disabled auto updates ,but on two occasions now the Flash update has installed without my knowledge.
Any way of preventing it ,i know it would be nice to keep it updated ,but not at the expense of 10mb of valuable space.
I'm running 2.2 on my debranded Orange HTC Desire in the UK and assume that I have Flash player working but it's not listed in settings > applications. App Brain has it down as in need of update but I can't find it to check the version I have, and when I ask AppBrain to do the update it takes me to the Market page which doesn't find Flash to dl (US only I assume). Before I grab and install one of the .apk files can anybody tell me how I find out which version I currently have (or whether I have it at all)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Desire somehow isn't playing flash videos anymore, where it used to. Anybody know how to rectify this? If Flash 10.1 is a go, then its even better, however, I'll be happy with FlashLite working for now, rather than having it not work at all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBought a HTC Desire and just cannot get its camera flash working. Obviously having hard time with people at the shop ("have you tried taking these pictures at night, maybe it understands that it is still daytime even if you tried it in bathroom"). My dumb brain would suggest that manual - flash always on (unless that 5% battery limit is not hit), automatic - depends on sensor income, off - no flash. Really hard to search for stuff like that in forums as usually "flash not working" refers to Adobe Flash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I carried out check to see if any updates were available. Much to my excitement I noticed that 2.2 was there so I carried out the download. I now have WiFi hotspot, flashtorch, 720p camcorder and applications sharing available in my apps list. The problem stems when I go to view just in TV or BBC iplayer and I am told that my device does not support flashplayer. I have checked and adobe flashplayer is there when I go to manage applications. When I click on it takes me into it but all options to click on are shaded and I cant do nothing about it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from an iPhone to the HTC Desire. I was looking forward to being able to play flash videos, after trying to play a few (from entensity.net) I can see the player, but pressing play results in only a yellow exclamation mark... Is there a solution to this or is flash support not quite there yet on android? (Btw according to the settings menu on the phone all software is up to date.)
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust tested data receiving on both, a 57 second clip (of King Crimson!) used only 0.6 mb on the YouTube app, the same clip used 2.3mb on the flash, that's nearly 4 times as much. what reason is there for using the flash player at all? not running 2.2, locked to Orange network.
