Oct 25, 2010Ive got my phone rooted and have a goldcard but the only rom ive been able to find is an alpha version. Is there by some chance a stock HTC rom with sense?the unbranded desires already have 2.2 right?

Nov 5, 2010I've had my phone rooted and flashed with all sorts of different ROMs over the last several months, and it breaks for days every once in a while, so I'm looking to revert back to stock 2.1 with htc sense (or without I suppose).
However, I never made a backup for Nandroid, and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to reinstall HTC Sense UI.

Sep 2, 2010We here in the US have just been able to get the Desire, just released 8/27. When I read the user manual it states that there is suppose to be a "FM radio". I see no icon/app for it. Is this something that US cellular has deprogrammed? Is the hardware in the phone?

Has anybody found a way to remove Facebook contacts that HTC Sense Facebook adds to the overall phone book once you sign into this app? (The list that appears when you press Phone and not the People app.)
It's quite annoying having to trawl through lots of unnecessary non-Google Contacts entries to find the legitimate ones I want in my phone book.
My All People list has never had the Facebook View ticked and correctly displays just my Google Contacts, which is the only View ticked, but when you click on Phone the phone list displays all my Google Contacts and all my Facebook friends who display a phone number. I haven't found any way to remove these Facebook contacts from the Phone list, not even unchecking the Contacts Sync option for HTC Facebook works. The Phone list needs the same View option that the People app has got.

I've got three contacts where the phone has auto linked Facebook to Google, one doesn't have any details that match, Facebook name is different and they don't share their e-mail address on Facebook, and now has code in the notes section of their Google Contact entry to make the link, the other two names match their Facebook names exactly and don't have any code in their Google Contacts note section.

Feb 23, 2010If I ever figure out how to root my cellularsouth hero, can i or should I download and install 2.1 when we finally get it from my carrier? Will it just over write what I have on there or will it need to be flashed back to stock? There really is no way to back up the OS from what I can tell. When i jailbroke my iphone an upgrade just put it back to factory default with the upgrade. I don't think it works like that with Android right? Because of not baing able to back up the phone before hand i worry about bricking it.
I am also wondering since there is so much trouble rooting the cellularsouth version of the hero, if it is even worth it. By the time i or someone else figures it out 2.1 will be out and then it may be a long time to get that rooted too. Sometimes I wish this company I am with was not cdma. cdma seems to have the most trouble getting rooted. But we do get great signal and service, but thats about all with this company.

Jul 15, 2010If someone finds or steals the phone, can the pattern lock be bypassed on a CDMA phone (not sure if GSM phones are vulnerable to SIM replacement as a bypass)? If not, perhaps that's pretty good security, so long as you're careful not to let others see your unlock pattern and you wipe the screen to remove your finger trail. Of course that still leaves the sd card unprotected, but if keep everything important in your dropbox, you can delete it from there, and probably do so before the person decides to pull the card out.

By home carrier I mean the carrier that the phone's owner has a contract with, not the owner of the cell site that the phone is communicating with. These are different when the phone is roaming. On a GSM phone I can get the home carrier from the IMSI recorded on the SIM, but this does not work on a CDMA phone. CDMA has a similar identifier called home system ID. Is there a way to query the home system ID? If that is not possible, how do I determine the home carrier? On Windows Mobile I am forced to search the registry looking for strings like 'Verizon' and 'Sprint'. Is there a similar klooge on Android?

My queries are:
1)Does this switch happens automatically ? If yes,which part of framework or code does that?
2)Does the http request drop in such situation due to cellular hand off ? Is there any way to handle such hand off ?
3)Does gprs cellular connection reconnects automatically when WiFi gets disconnected ?
4)Which type of alerts or notifications normally user gets in such situations ?
