HTC Desire :: Unwanted Call Barr To One Number Only
Jul 4, 2010
call barring only to my wifes phone and no other number. When she rings me my phone does not ring and goes straight to answer phone, and registers on my phone as a "missed call". SIM card is ok and she can ring me on another mobile that I have.My wife can text me and I receive it normally. We are both on Vodaphone

Just got a new case for my Desire off eBay. When I have the Desire all the way inserted in the case and try to call a number, the screen goes BLACK. Yet the call can still be heard going through. I am NOT able to get it back no matter what button I press. Not even with POWER OFF for several seconds! Yet... if I push the phone up half an inch (see pic), the screen goes back every time and the buttons work. Did I mention that the screen is fine when the phone is fully inserted in the case, it only goes black when I make a call using the dialer?
I checked and none of the buttons seem to be depressed when the phone is in the case. Even if they were, it should not cause the screen to lock up like that in black, and the buttons as well.

I would like to forward all calls to my number on to the new predefined number automatically. Is it possible to forward incoming call? Probably it is possible for Froyo at least. I found application called Easy Call Forwarding. But many people reckon it dosen't work actually. We can notice forwarded call by onCallForwardingIndicatorChanged() from PhoneStateListener but I have no idea how to set forwarding mode.

New to Android. I always used a app called Magicall on my WM device. I want to be able to block specific contacts, unknown number or anonymous numbers and also specific contacts for SMS. I can see I have the option to send a contact direct to voicemail but don't have the same facility for unknown/anonymous callers and nothing to block SMS. Any recommendations for an app that works with 2.1? (I'm using a HTC Desire)

I have a stock froyo 2.2 on my device with no o2 operator logo thanks to the debranding batch file on xda developers, it's also got root. This seems quite stable and hasn't displayed the random crashing that happens on almost any ROM that I've tried. What's the closest ROM to stock but with a lot of the unnecessary apps removed?

As phones like the Desire can be online a lot, should we all be using Internet firewalls to prevent unwanted attention from hackers, etc.?

First of all I'd like to point out that I have posted this in the HTC Desire section because I'm not sure whether my problem is Android or HTC Sense related.I have linked my contacts to their facebook profiles so I can see thier pictures awesome.Except that whenever I compose a new text message and click on the people icon, I get a list of every single one of my facebook friends, and multiple entries for each - one for email, phone etc.Except obviously I only want to text one of the people in my contacts, but keep slecting someone's email address that they've listed on facebook, or the wrong person who shares the same first name. This is highly frustrating - random people appearing in my message recipients list is something I have never had to deal with before in my 10 years as a mobile phone user.

What I want to do is make a phone number click-able I guess you can say.
On my app there is two phone numbers on two different tabs. I want the user to be able to press the phone number (either or) and it will call the number from their phone.

I want to know how to use the setResultData() in worker thread
1. Registered a broadcast receiver for this intent "android.intent.action.NEW_OUTGOING_CALL"
2. So using "intent.getStringExtra", i got the user dialed number.
3. After that i need to do some database operation and after that i have to change the user dialed number.
4. Using setResultData(), i will update the dialed number.
here i want to do the database operation in worker thread instead of doing it in OnReceive() of BroadcastReceiver. So from the worker thread how can i use the setResultData()?

I use google voice to send all my calls on my cliq xt but I was wondering if there is a way to have people call my google voice number and not have it count towards my minutes. Also is there a way to have the sms be integrated with the built in android sms app or have the voice app constantly be open?

The text to speech API in android is awesome.. Is there any way in which I can play this text to speech content to a call instead of the speaker? As in I call a number automatically and then play text to speech to the callee. This is not another opening to phone spam if you are wondering.. Working on an automated distress call system :D

My work number is a contact, if I choose that contact to dial, the X goes to do it but in the reception bars area a red circle appears and the screen reverts back to the previous one. I can dial other numbers fine and there is service. My work number is also in all my co-workers contact cards as well. I had one contact that I deleted and added again, and then the X would dial and the call go through. Any thoughts? It is only a few numbers this happens with, no pattern I can see yet.

I'm not sure if this is real or not, but I think I've heard of some way to cloak your phone number and fake another number on a call or text.

Is there an app/add-on for Android that will speak my contacts name or number when I get an incoming call or text? I absolutely LOVE that feature about my Dare and will miss it greatly. Helps me know if I need to get the phone out of my pocket for an important call or if it can go to voicemail. Is there a feature in Android that can speak my contacts to me...like "call from Dad's Cell" or "message from Robert" like my LG Dare?

Moving on, my problem has to do with "Call-History". What I've noticed is that while I can see the phone-numbers of people in my contacts list people whose number I do not have show up as, bear with me, "Unknown". When I navigate to "Call History", (Say a friend whose number I don't have calls me). I can't add their number to my contact list. This is an increasingly frustrating problem for me. I'll navigate to the "Call History" screen and find that there's no way for me to identify what numerical-phone number called me. There will simply be the designation; "Unknown", while holding down on the entry (while the time/length of the call can be viewed). There is no way to add nor even view, the again, [Unknown] number to my contact list. Phones are ultimately communication devices, if I can't find a solution, well, I'm convinced that I'm going to have to down-grade from a smart-phone to something capable of recording and adding unknown numbers.

Can anyone call the last number they dialed in less than 5 moves on Motorola Droid without having that contact set as a direct dial shortcut on their Home screen? This is after screen has timed out and phone shotcut is not already open. I currently have to>press power>swipe or use pattern>press phone>press call log> press phone icon next to name. If the answer is no, people really need to think twice when they say how the phone is so easy to use. If it can be done quicker, please show how.

I was curious to know if anyone is aware of any program that allows you to make calls and adds the dashes in the number as you type them. For instance, right now with the Inc when placing a call, the number displays like this:
5555555555
Anyone know if there's a way to make it:
555-555-5555
A little easier on the eyes. I doubt that there is something like this but thought I'd ask.

Since the day I received this phone (LG Eve - GW620R): I have had this recurring problem. After I dial a number and hit the call button; the screen says "call ended", and the call gets minimized to the notification bar. I cannot overstate how annoying this bug is. Also, I get random notification dings (the screen says "preparing SD card") when the phone is just sitting idle. Finally, when I get e-mails it will tell me that my memory is full when it's not.
Anybody else experiencing these issues? Is there a solution?

I have a problem. It turns out that my personal cell phone number accidentally got listed as a business number because of one digit.
I been using my Google Voice number lately and it is set up so it will forward all my calls to my personal cell phone number.
So is there a way to tell if they calling me from my personal cell phone number or my Google Voice number?

My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.

I'm using Android 2.1 on the Galaxy S.I have multiple numbers defined per contact, e.g. mobile, work, home. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

I've been dealing with this for quite a while - I'm finally just getting fed up with it to the point where I'm actually doing something about it. I use GV exclusively probably half of the entries in my phone history appear as "unknown". Its also hit-or-miss if the contact's name appears when i dial out or when they're ringing in. Also, when me and another contact call each other back and forth several times, sometimes their info appears, sometimes they appear as "(unknown)" -- its baffling me.
