View 9 RepliesI use google voice to send all my calls on my cliq xt but I was wondering if there is a way to have people call my google voice number and not have it count towards my minutes. Also is there a way to have the sms be integrated with the built in android sms app or have the voice app constantly be open?

I been using my Google Voice number lately and it is set up so it will forward all my calls to my personal cell phone number.
So is there a way to tell if they calling me from my personal cell phone number or my Google Voice number?
I have a droid, and google voice. I have setup my 5th number as xxx-xxx-xxxx, and tmobile as the name. If I go into GV settings and select :use google voice for all of my calls", does that mean that they will all be free since they are using the GV# for both in and out calls?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had Google voice for a while now. And yesterday I added a line into my plan and got the Droid. I downloaded Google voice app and everytime I try to place a call it tells me I am unable to make the call. I did set my new number as the phone being used. Any suggestions? Or is there something up with Google voice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why Google Voice requires an area code to call? I understand that the number it dials from could be from anywhere, so it may need an area code to complete the call, but how about an option to dial a default area code when the person does not enter one?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to change Google voice message that people hear when they call from the phone? I know how to do it from the computer but can't find it on the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor those of you who have and use Google Voice on your Droid. Is there any way to use GV when you manually enter a number? I get the choice to use GV from my contacts list but not when I manually enter the number. Has anyone else had this issue? Please only respond if you have and use Google Voice. I'm sorry I don't have any invites so please don't ask.I also appologize if that sounds harsh but I've read through some of the other GV posts and no one really seems to answer the question.
View 15 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how I can change something in the settings to remove the +1 in front of all of my incoming numbers?
Example: +1(555)555-5555
When someone leaves me a message and i press callback it calls that number and Verizon wont recognize that +1 extension in front of the area code.
I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
Compared to say Verizon's voice mail is there any lag between the call and voice mail notification when using Google Voice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't make calls using google voice. What happens is I will dial a number and press send, then something will pop up asking me if I want to make the call with GV or without GV. I choose WITH GV and it will start out okay, but after 5 seconds it goes back to the normal call screen and calls regularly with out GV. Is there anyone who can help me out with this? I have a droid eris.
View 8 Replies View RelatedFor me, it appears so, sucks because latest Google Voice is great and the sole reason I want to go back to 1.5 (and then maybe the root 2.1 etcs)Confirmed for me, calls now show google voice number in latest google voice app! (as displayed in long list of fixes/improvements.) I definitely encourage any old Leak V2 users to upgrade that want the latest Google Voice!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I enter a phone number for one of my Google Contacts and then choose "Google Voice" as the label (which is already a pre-defined label in the dropdown box) and then sync with my phone, the phone number in the People app shows "Call grandcentral".

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend is getting a smartphone from work, and wanted to get rid of her personal line. She wants to port her personal number to Google Voice, so that she doesn't have to tell everyone her work number. Will porting automatically cancel that line from AT&T or should she call first? If she ported the number and for whatever reason decided she wanted to use it for a personal line again, could she port that number back back to a carrier?
Also, does Google Voice work the same on iPhone?
My work number is a contact, if I choose that contact to dial, the X goes to do it but in the reception bars area a red circle appears and the screen reverts back to the previous one. I can dial other numbers fine and there is service. My work number is also in all my co-workers contact cards as well. I had one contact that I deleted and added again, and then the X would dial and the call go through. Any thoughts? It is only a few numbers this happens with, no pattern I can see yet.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI signed up with google voice through my university email and i can access it on my pc and what not, it says have a google number and when i call it i can get my voice mail, and i get transcribed voicemails and what not. however, when i downloaded the app from the market and and to activate it under 'voice' settings i get to the step where i enter my pin and the it says 'Your phone number could not be verified. Please try again later' what gives?i have tried over a week or so and it still gives me the same message. i read that if you chose the 'different' account option and type in your email that will work but when i do that it says my password is wrong. also, when i hold down the '1' on my phone it takes me to my Verizon voice mail, i though i was using google voice? i must say this is a very confusing service so far.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to setup a second phone number using Google Voice. Some time ago I created a new number online and set it up on my previous cell. Now 2 years later I got a new cell and want to setup Google Voice, however the application behaves differently now and tries to integrate with my real phone number, and that is not my intention. During the install it verified my real phone number and tried to use it.
My question: how to set it up to use a number I created online long time ago? I clicked every option but could not find a way to repoint Voice to my second number.
I had my number ported to Google Voice and have been using it to make and receive calls for the past two weeks. I was also using it for texts, or so I thought, but yesterday I found out (by looking at my friends phone), that after I sent him a text, my carrier's number was the one that showed up as the sender, instead of my Google Voice.
I thought Google Voice automatically used your Google Voice number for texts too? Am I doing something wrong in the middle?
In what way can a google voice number be used with an eris? I see alot of people wanting a GV invite. What can be done that is so sought after?
