I have a stock froyo 2.2 on my device with no o2 operator logo thanks to the debranding batch file on xda developers, it's also got root. This seems quite stable and hasn't displayed the random crashing that happens on almost any ROM that I've tried. What's the closest ROM to stock but with a lot of the unnecessary apps removed?

I was good with the leak, but then i experienced a few hardware problems and had to get a replacement eris. Well, now i am rooting this beasty, tryin to overclock it. The guides have been helpful and clear on getting to this point, but now i am stuck of the multiple roms out there, very few of them actually list what's available. I wanted as few as possible of the stock apps (peep, amazon, footprints, all that garbage gone), overclock, 5-7 screens, and for it to do my taxes, change my timing belt, and book flights for me all at once, but can't seem to find out. Right now i've got home, senseui, and nexus launcher loaded up on here, using senseui cause that's what i am used to. Nexus launcher seems to be well a resource hog that this phone cant handle without overclocking.

I'm hoping this thread will help, but in my experiences with technology...We may never get a straight answer/ solution. I've followed some threads on the "low on space" icon. I've gone through and deleted lots unused apps and I've cleared many of my caches.
While deleting apps i noticed that more then half of the apps on my eris are apps that i haven't downloaded and/or came pre-loaded on the phone. I understand that some are essential to the functioning of the phone (like being able to sync with your pc, download apps, etc). But i've noticed apps like "footprints" and the amazon "mp3 store" that I really have no use for. While managing apps there is no option to delete or get rid of these apps...is there a way to safely do so? or do i really have to live with having very few apps on my phone? (because i really don't have many that I have actually downloaded myself) Sorry for the lengthy post...i want to answer as many questions as i know how before i start getting responses.
is there anyway to completely delete things like "gtalk" and "corporate calendar" from the device? SOmethimes when I click on my Running applications, they are being used and I have never once used them. Thanks in advance for the help
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know the name of the method I used but its the one that calls for you to place the file called "PC36IMG.zip" on the root of your sd card and then reboot into the boot loader. I followed the instruction and it seemed to flash ok, but now i'm trying to find out where to find the terminal/CLI so I can delete unwanted stock app like amazon music shop or nascar tv. All the instructions say to open the terminal or CLI and type in a particular path in order to delete the apks that those apps use. The problem is the guides never say where to find the terminal. Is it somewhere on the phone? Is it something I download, do i need to connect the phone to a linux computer to find the terminal?

Now, I need to perform a factory data reset just to remove the Google account associated with it. Is it safe to do so or will I lose any further system apps or worse, brick my phone? I have the apk's of the system apps that I removed, but for some reason I am not able to restore/install all of them. I used ES File Explorer back then to remove those apps. I want to be able to block specific contacts, unknown number or anonymous numbers and also specific contacts for SMS. I can see I have the option to send a contact direct to voicemail but don't have the same facility for unknown/anonymous callers and nothing to block SMS. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Desire was crashing, so I requested a replacement with O2 business. I upgraded to 2.2 last week using the software update link on the phone. Today I received my 'new' handset from O2 which still has 2.1-update1 as the firmware version. When I tried to upgrade I was informed there is no newer version. Spoke to O2 business, who told me that HTC had withdrawn it again. I'm kinda pleased that my 2.2 desire has been sent back, if there are serious enough issues with Froyo for it to be withdrawn. I did like a couple of things extra in the menu structures, but is it really that important?

This was a very handy app on my Blackberry because it was more instant than a text message (and free which is handy for my BB friends without free texting), and you didn't have to be "logged on" to get a message. I asked the Verizon rep (who's only complaint when he switched to the Droid), and he said Google Talk did the same thing. I installed it and told one of my BB buddies to do the same, but you need to be logged in to get messages. Is Google Talk my best bet or is there something better?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have root using unrEVOked3, running CM6, stock kernel, then did unrEVOked Forever and the radio update (2.15) I noticed that my 3G is getting me like 200kbps, horrible, right? I thought maybe *228 would fix the problem. I noticed that the speedtest app was saying a server in Tacoma was the closest to me (2.8 mi) when really, I'm just south of Portland. When I try to do *228, I get a phone activation screen with no keypad on it. It says "Please wait while you phone is being programmed." and wants me to push 1 or 2, but since there is no keypad, this becomes impossible. If I back out to my app drawer and select Phone again, it brings up 3 options. One of them is to see the keypad. When I hit that, it just takes me back to the activation screen. I can't find a way to push a button. Long pressed menu, got keyboard.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUnder Accounts and Sync (in Settings), Stocks and Weather seem to nestle permanently - I can't see a way of getting them out of there. I don't use the Stocks app at all and have turned autosync off on it. Is there a way to get if off the Accounts and Sync screen?

Adding why I want it to go: each time I go to the Accounts and Sync screen, the Stocks app ends up getting restarted! Even if I force close it from "Managing Apps", it shows up again as running when I go to the Accounts and Sync screen.
First of all I'd like to point out that I have posted this in the HTC Desire section because I'm not sure whether my problem is Android or HTC Sense related.I have linked my contacts to their facebook profiles so I can see thier pictures awesome.Except that whenever I compose a new text message and click on the people icon, I get a list of every single one of my facebook friends, and multiple entries for each - one for email, phone etc.Except obviously I only want to text one of the people in my contacts, but keep slecting someone's email address that they've listed on facebook, or the wrong person who shares the same first name. This is highly frustrating - random people appearing in my message recipients list is something I have never had to deal with before in my 10 years as a mobile phone user.

I just haven't been able to find them on the market yet. 1. Favorite contacts app (displays pic of contacts in a grid style) 2. Bookmarks app (also displays bookmarks in grid style). If either of these are available, I probably wont get both, because i know they would take up an entire screen (right?), but just want to see whats out there.
