HTC Desire :: Using Telus HTC Desire On Rogers Network - No SIM Card In Phone - Error

Oct 8, 2010

I just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

HTC Desire :: Speficy Network Settings Per Wi-Fi Network?

Nov 4, 2010

I alternate between two wifi networks on my HTC Desire running Android 2.2 ( I think!)On one network I need to specify the network IP/subnet/Gateway and so on, on the other network I can use DHCP.Is there any way to tell Android that whenever I connect to one wifi network it should use the static IP and on the other it should get an IP automatically?I am forever going into advanced wifi settings and changing them back and forth. I'd love for my phone to remember the settings used on each wifi profile.

HTC Desire HD :: Mobile Network Widget - Switching Off/on Mobile Network Setting From Home Screen

Oct 29, 2010

I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.

The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".

Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

HTC :: Cannot Unlock My HTC Desire After 2.2 Upgrade

Oct 1, 2010

First of all, I would just like to say that I am new to this forum and I apologize in anticipation if I am posting this information under the wrong category. I have done my best to read the rules before posting. Anyway here goes. I am quite desperate because I cannot use my phone as I should. I bought an HTC Desire 3 months ago from Vodafone(in Romania) without a plan so I purchased the phone at its full price. Consequently, Vodafone issued a free unlock code for my phone so I could go ahead and use it with whichever provider I want. For various reasons, I have not unlocked the phone in due time(as I had been using their pre-paid for a while) and upgraded the OS to 2.2 when the upgrade was launched. To be honest, the update came out of the blue and I guess I wasn't realizing what I was doing at the time so I went ahead with the upgrade. Now, after going to the store where I bought the phone they have tried additional unlock codes and none of their unlock codes work! I have tried to get an unlock code online from a pretty respectable unlock provider and still I get: "Incorrect Code" when trying to do a network unlock. I am now in another country (UK) and cannot unlock my phone so I can use it with any of the providers here. It just seems like any of the codes generated of of my IMEI are not working. I don't know much about phones, but this is driving me crazy, and I would really really appreciate any feedback or suggestion here from someone more experienced.

HTC Desire :: 2 New Icons After Unlock - What These Mean?

Apr 29, 2010

So I just unlocked my desire (allowing me to use the new phone on o2 for the last few days of my contract) but 2 new icons have appears in the top left corner.

The first is a "general alert" according to the user guide, a trianle with an "!" along the horizontal line.

The 2nd is a circle, within a shape I can only describe as a tear drop, with an "!" to the right of it. I cant find this one in the user guide.

Can anyone explain what these mean?

Nov 1, 2010

i know its another one of those threads but despite reading up on this so so so many times and on different websites, i am finding it really difficult to understand. I have an o2 phone locked and branded. i want to unlock and unbrand (so i can use another sim and no more o2 on start up). however does this mean i have to root? I dont really understand why one wants to root, (rooting is different from unbranding right? but once u root u will unbrand, correct?) but can u unbrand without rooting? also once u unbrand, what happens to the market? read somewhere after unbranding they could not access very much? does it matter which conoutry you are in? i will be using the desire in asia. still cannot understand roms, cusotm roms, htc roms, soo confused

Is this the only way I can do it? Must I have a different sim-card to start the unlocking? I don`t have one so bit of a problem.

HTC Desire :: New Database Unlock Code

Sep 26, 2010

I have my new desire for almost a week now. I am trying to unlock it (it's locked to telus). I have tryed many website (mobileincanada, cellunlock) but they still answer me that the didn't receive the codes for ''new'' Desires.I didnt ask a refund from cellunlock because he told me that if he doesnt have it, no one else will have it.so I'd better wait (1-3 buisness days) after 3 buisness days they still don't have it.I've spoken to an other admin from htccode dot com and they can 'give it a try'because they have acess to ''all' databases. I'm not into asking a refund from cellunlock and be stucked again with htccode. Can someone explain me the theory of 'new databases' Vs 'old databases'?How do these buisness work? How can they have to htc databases... why HTC give them access? Hopefully I will find someone here who's in my situation and will try to help out

However, I would like to configure the phone to use only the hardware button and the lock pattern in order to use the phone, and bypass the 'slide down' process.

I have tried various permutations and addons but to no avail ...

So to recap:

1 - press upper hardware button
2 - enter lock pattern

HTC Desire :: Does Unprovoked Provide A ROM / Need To Unlock Phone?

Aug 21, 2010

I'm thinking of debranding my Orange-locked Desrie using Unrevoked3 as it's supposed to be a doddle. I've downloaded the programmer, but before I attach my phone ot my computer and press go, I have four questions:
1. Do I need to unlock my phone first?
2. Do I need a goldcard?
3. Does Unprovoked provide a ROM or do I have to install that myself separately?
4. What does this actually do? Root? Debrand? What?

Is there any other alternative to this? such as a password/pass code unlock instead? I'm a bit unsure, as the pattern lock seems to me maybe easier to crack if someone were to get their hands on the phone, appears to be no limit on how many attempts you can make also.I know this might be a long shot but is there anything out there such as a finger print unlock?

HTC :: Noby Unlock / Flash For Desire - Orange

Jul 6, 2010

Can someone explain to me a few things please: If you unlock your phone with a code, does that mean you can put any sim into it? If so, does it re-lock onto the new network/sim that you put it? and if so, can you unlock it again with the same code or is it permanent?Secondly, I understand that if you debrand an Orange Desire, you can install a generic ROM, but if you do an OTA update, the phone screws up (loses wi-fi) as you have updated the radio version which is incompatible with Orange and you then have to Unlock the phone to make it work again. Does this work permanently? Also, in relation to this, if you apply an unlock code first, can you then use the OTA update from HTC and not have your phone screw up? As it is no longer an "Orange" handset, or is the phone always hard coded to Orange in some way?

HTC Desire HD :: Which Network Gets Used?

Oct 21, 2010

Have been used to Nokias in the past, both personally and for work, so the DHD is my first non-Nokia phone for ages. With the E71 I had, whenever I wanted to go on-line it asked me which access point I wanted to use. This meant that if I was out and about I'd use the 3G network but if I was at home I'd choose wifi. With the DHD it doesn't ask and appears to me to want you to choose which network to use purely by 'default'. That is, if it's switched on then it'll use it.Have I missed something in the manual? Maybe I've misunderstood how the networking is prioritized?

HTC Desire :: Remove Unlock Code To Sync With Exchange?

Apr 14, 2010

I have the HTC Desire with Android 2.1. I sync it with exchange, but it tells me I have to have a "phone unlock code" to sync with exchange. This more or less ruins the phone for me, as I have to type a password EVERY single time the screen locks (or go to standby). Only way I can see around it is forwarding all my exchange mail + syncing all my exchange contacts and my exchange calendar with g-mail, but that is a rather poor solution I think : I have g-mail sync running as well, and that does not require me to have a "unlock password" Does anyone know a way to get around this annoying "you must have an unlock code to sync with exchange" issue?
